It's hard to even know if money is a factor for Elgersma. Really if he signs here he'll be standing on the sideline, getting a few reps in practice (teams are prepping to win games, not develop rookies in practice) maybe running short yardage although they've brought in guys that seem to be better prospects for that. If his goal is to make the NFL more than anything else he needs to go somewhere he will get reps....which is NFL preseason or UFL. But he's really wasting time now because the path from CFL to NFL is to play up here for 2-3 years, take the reins and dominate, then go NFL. The longer he waits by the time he gets up here he's basically cooked for NFL opportunities. And if he signs after training camp up here there's really no point in terms of his development. That's when he's going to get the most reps and get settled.- Today

How did this game suddenly get so popular https://deadline.com/2026/02/ticket-to-ride-movie-netflix-in-works-1236719468/- Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
Part of what FIFO was here...was being key was a bog solid group of guys in prime...setting the tone and walking the walk and new guys coming in seen it...and fell in line...Premium guys kicking butt cause they earned it from play Then it slowly eroded away....positions were given due to past history, and being a favorite...even if not warranted and guys busting their asses also seen it, and never got a chance and yes...it caused rifts and frustrated attitudes...and why wouldn't it? Our younger up and coming guys who could have kept the dominance going walked for opp's elsewhere, or we wouldn't pay and cheaped out in order to keep far too long declining guys, and guys not good enough just because they were here from before and the HC liked them...all the while ignoring our actual true depth (having guts on roster isnt depth if you dont use them, or have faith they are good enough) eroded into league worst The holdover's got complacent and too comfortable knowing that thy just had to show up and keep the narrative here and they were safe....and the coaching staff did jack all to advance and evolve as well...What have we seen from osh with a unique decision...gutsy or ballsy call to take a game over...Pulling a player mid game....or parking a vet for poor performance?...We havnt...but we saw a lor of deflection...smug attitude and a lot of perplexed almost lost looks on the sidelines when things were spiralling down hill and weren't working no more, and no ability to pull out of it...Just the old "we will watch the film...guys will figure out what went wrong and fix it"...and it never happened Thats the condensed in a nutshell look at 2022 to now- 25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread
thing is...he can sign with caveat he can request his release if a team kicks, or wants to kick the tires all the while getting his rookie salary and developing and getting pro exposure....There are bird dogs in stadiums up here all yr...at all times (practice and games) so would prob lend to more attention than sitting at home...making nothing Dude has a good arm....not elite...and NFL QB height, tho even that stereotypical thing in this age isn't was it was He had success in Canadian College ball...that is it...think about that...80 percent of rosters he played against at best are not even comparable to Prep School talent in the U.S let alone NCAA div 2 or 3 talent....so that success is pretty limited, and it has shown in that after his on flier h got from GB that he hasnt landed anywhere else...even with the big QB talent issues in the NFL after teams starters for most part.....he looked okay in the one pre-season but also was playing against guys who will never see another NFL camp again....Rourke has sucess against guys who are and where part of active rosters....and look what that got him....dickall...but he got wise and turned that into a big CFL deal dealing him if he for whatever reason doesnt wanna be here...which I dont think is the case wont land a pile of talent or picks in return, as why would it?...he is all hype and hope and thats about it right now....He just getting bad guidance right now and reason he not up here actually bettering himself for another possible camp- 25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread

The tall foreheads in the CFL & in this case the bald forehead supposedly running things just doesn't see anything like that as a problem.- Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
Sure does feel like a reset has happened. Here’s hoping it results in us climbing back up to dominance, the gold standard of the league where we belong.- 25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread
Exactly whether he works out or not, be creative, be something more than hey let’s change the rules to give him and other players reasons motivations enticements etc to come to the CFL.- 25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread
No arguments there. Yet, like the coaches & admin cap, the league doesn't see the rookie cap as a problem. Yet the size of the field is. The priorities of the CFL are crazy.- 25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread
Yeah im not arguing that Elgersma will end up on a PR/Roster etc etc. Just that the rookie contracts give him (or any other player who seem to believe they'll catch on down south) little to no reason to come to the CFL.- 25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread

I get two impressions of Elgersma: He doesn't seem to want to play in Winnipeg or the Bombers. Even if he does sign here, he'll be gone at the first opportunity. So, don't hang your hat on he being a long term starter for us. That the CFL is beneath him. He's been told by his agents that he's an NFL qb & dammit, that's what he's going to be. Until he isn't. No matter how long it takes. A year & a half ago, no one knew who this guy was because he played for an obscure little college playing that strange 3 down football ****. In that ice sheet of a country called Canada. All they do is play hockey. When Tyler was in Grade 11, he also wanted to play NCAA in the US for Boise State, among other universities. He went to one of their high school camps in Boise throwing the ball in a workout. They liked him but ultimately chose someone else because the qb coach there felt Tyler's 3 down fooball background wasn't "real football". So yeah, I've heard the same **** Elgersma is going through with the NFL. Tyler could out throw most of the American qbs he went against. He always had one of the strongest arms at any camp he attended. He also could scramble although not a run first qb as he liked staying in the pocket & throw. This was 2011 & 12. The game has since changed, It drove some of the college coaches crazy to see that as they couldn't believe their eyes & were afraid to take a chance with a Canadian kid on a 4 year scholarship. The best he got was a walk on opportunity with the University of Oregon. Tyler got a personal letter to from HC Chip Kelly. I tried talking to Kelly by phone & left messages for him to call me as his private secretary would never put him through to me. He never called back. I wss hoping that once he found out about our finances he might have a change of heart for a scholarship. We couldn't get funding for him to walk on from Canadian or American sources. Tuition was $30000 US a year plus room & board. Unaffordable for us. The barriers that are put up seem a thousand feet tall for Canadian qbs. He signed with SFU.- Yesterday

he is. who ever reps him in the us is not doing him a service- Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics thread
Can't Bobsled Canada or whatever they're called go out into the Head Office World in Toronto or even Calgary & get funding for their program instead of using used sleighs from the Germans? I started a new bantam football team here in Calgary & we desperately needed funding to buy equipment. I went to a bunch of coropoate head offices here in the O & G as well as insurance business to see if we could get sponsorship. Each time, I met with very nice people from every company's HR depts. No one would give me a penny. The cause of helping to fund a boy's football team for 13 & 14 year olds wasn't big enough. They wanted to make a big splash & have a news release. Some of these companies had tens of thousands to spend waiting for the right opportunity. In other words, don't wait for government sponsorship. go out & get the money yourselves.- 25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread
Elgersma's actually ******* himself over without realizing it. He hasn't had a tryout in weeks. Teams are now turning attention to college pro days, upcoming NFL Draft & college free agent qbs that probably won't be drafted. With the new qb crop, he'll slide down even further. It's his (career) funeral. I'm sure he has lots of stories about his NFL travels, how great Matt LaFleur & Jordan Love were when he's in the qb room with his guys at Laurier. They'll just gawk & go, "Wow!!" Stupid is as stupid does.- Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
What it says to me is that FIFO was way overrated with Osh. You can't expect players to fitin if certain players are coaches favourites. If a player should be benched & demoted then that is what should happen. Not given special chances or more opportunities to **** up. We saw that with a number of players over the years. You build a culture as a Head Coach then you have to make sure that it never changes. I think that's what happened to the Bombers. It went from FIFO in 2019 to Old Boyz Club in 2023-25. Younger guys saw & experienced that & wanted out. Needed a reset.- 25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread
We are clearly back in win now mode. We reached a bit for him, but with the nfl interest and pre season his value should be up if any thing. The draw is mainly in making a hype move, which is still valuable for half the league. I’d be happy if we took a former high pick, and got a mid round pick, or moved up in the global draft, or got other creative value. Some one like manu might be a worthy mix in for a team stock piling futures. Go out and find a qb who is quick enough to reliably make the first man miss when breaking the pocket and fast enough to out run cfl ends to the corner on boundary side. If he is coach able enough to stay low on the short yardage pack, you have a better qb3 than most teams in the league. (sad statement that is) And really put pressure on wilson, chase, and especially perkins to step up. No failing down into qb2, and 3 spots. Make one win qb2, or send them all home.- Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics thread
I always thought Cuithbert was overated. When he was younger his high pitched voice drove me nuts. As he aged, it's got deeper so it isn't quite the shriek it was in the 90's. I like him better calling the CFL.- The 2026 Grim Reaper Thread
Robert Duvall, 'The Godfather' actor, dead at 95 Lonesome Dove still a classic!- Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
Or maybe the second year player was making too many mistakes so the coach benched him. Hope Clercius can take the next step this season. Lots of tools. Look great at times, but something happened where he felL out of favour- Major Site Upgrade

Yup at this point develop Perkins Thorne Wilson or Artopoeous and trade Elgersma for a pile of picks. - 25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread
