The policies the league has for this are pretty easy to find and make the protocols explicitly clear. If AQHI+ as deemed by Environment Canada (you can actually see these values in pretty much all stadiums via the Purple Air map) is 8 or above, players aren't allowed on the field. The policies also state that there will attempt to make things work for up to 3 hours (I think they let it go to 4 in this case). Regina was also under a special air quality warning at the time. Should the league have been more proactive in maybe rescheduling based on the forecast? Maybe, but they were hoping that winds would come and mitigate the issue. Should they have left everyone sit in the stands without much updates within the stadium? Probably not, but in an open air stadium what else can you really do. Everyone has their own risk profile and were expecting to be there for at least 3 hours anyways. And it is indeed a safety issue for the players more-so than the fans in the stands... it is an order of magnitude more dangerous doing wind sprints up and down the field in that kind of conditions than it is hanging out in the stands. The problem is with something like lightning, you know there is some timing involved and you can actually see it. Of course there are people that are going to dip as soon as the delay happens, and then you make the decision as time goes on as you see more or less lightning. With the smoke its just kind of... there and you can almost get acclimated to it but as soon as you hit fresh air its clear what was going on, but you have morons on Facebook and X going "hurr-durr back in my day I'd run marathons sucking back a pack of darts players these days are babies."

I jut turned 70 last week. At my age just waking up is good news. Bonus that I remembered where the bathroom was thus preventing a nasty accident. Yes, I remembered to close the lid. Wait a minute, did I flush???

How refreshing it is having Laura Diakun as guest host in the absence of Kate Bierness? She's a pro who keeps the panel on task & guess what?? They actually can have an interesting football discussion with Diakun. Unlike Bierness, who is all over the place with her comments, jokes, wild laughter & skits. The panel just follows her lead & gets goofy. Bierness is not a host. She lacks the discipline that Diakun has, She seems perfectly suited to be the full time host of TSN football. I wish TSN would make a change.

I just listed the 9 starters. Three of those qbs have played 3 games. Two have better stats than Collaros. If you look at the others, we have no way of catching up because our passing numbrs are anemic as we have a shell of what we used to have for receivers. Yeah, Collaros ain't what he used to be but MOS & Walters made it worse. I don't care how much Lawler is making, he is worth every penny. Unless Schoen has an epiphany as a receiver & starts putting up 150 yards a game rceiving, he isn't. He looks like he's lost at least one& maybe two steps. I suffered the exact same knee injury Schoen did last year when I was 22. The injury was life changing. Even with rehab my knee was never the same. It was replaced in 2022.

I have stories as I was a claims adjuster for Kernaghan Adjusters. I flew & drove all over the north when I lived in Thompson working on insurance claims in 1989.. I think there were more fires that year surrounding the town than people knew. You really could see it from the air.

Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
SpeedFlex27 replied to Atomic's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
No, Ben Hatskin & Sonny Werblin, the owner of the New York Jets were business acqaintances & friends. When he secured a team in the Westrn canada Hockey League, he named the team the Jets in honour of Werblin's AFL team. When he later sold the Junior Jets, he bought into the WHA with a franchise in 1971 & called them the Jets as well. Again, to honour Werblin. Just an aside but in the 1950's my dad knew Ben Hatskin as well through business. Both men raced cars. My dad owned an Auto Body shop on Marion Street right beside the Norwood Hotel. It was there for 36 years from 1946-82. My father built a race car. Hatskin also owned a car as well & they raced against one another. Both my dad & Hatskin hired professional drivers to race their cars. -

I kind of like the ring of giant dodgers… it’d be great for a basketball team. I believe officially it was a combination of honouring the rcaf, Winnipeg’s aviation history, and the ny jets. -
Dillion Mitchell does and has played slot. below the very first highlight has him in the slot. You can find lots of similar in his high lights up here. Also WRs in the cfl motion and move depending on formation, package, and passing concepts. No one is solely a field or wr or boundary slot. This is mos roster management. If they actually played case in a game over any imp wr it would be completely absurd.
-
I've heard Mitchell doesn't play slot, dumb as a fence post if he doesn't seize whatever opportunity is given to him at this time, his job is on the line.

I'm fine with Vanterpool for Stan. Kelly back would be fantastic. Logan too. If Mitchell can't beat out Case then he needs to hit the bricks. Thing is Case had 1 catch for 5 yards in 3 games last year. Not trying to be an ahole but pretty sure any receiver you put in could do that. Take out Schoen and the D has to what cover 3 guys (Demski, Wheatfall and Clercius)

I thought it was due to the popularity of the New York Jets at that time due to Joe Namath. -
Typical with us..Case...like really? Guy is as average as average is...and couldnt crack lineup last yr...and if he couldn't beat out Sterns this yr then insirting him for Schoen makes us the worst group in league in yrs... If Stan needs a rest then we gain a DA spot...tho we roster 4 ...3 of of whom only see work on teams I can just imagine what Osh rosters Nice to see Kelly back tho...and logan... Likely another case of "coaches preference " and no pun intended...

Thought the Jets were named in reference to the RCAF base in St. James? -
Kody Case? WTF? Mitchell can't beat out that non entity?

Since Ben Hatskin was playing for the Bombers at that time if Vince Leah didn't exist, Benny probably have started the tradition of New York team names back in the 30's instead of waiting to name the hockey team "Jets" in 1967- we'd be the Winnipeg Blue Yankees or Winnipeg Giant Dodgers lol.... -

Time to release Dillion Mitchell if you have no intentions of playing him. Absolutely ridiculous at this point. -
Boy I don’t want to see Kase in the starting core… glad vanterpool is getting more T reps. Hopefully Stan is ok and tbh can step back up. Good to see Logan finally starting to get healthy too.
-
Everyone's been talking about the fire in 89.
-
Yup...Lawler best in league...would look good here trying to pull in Zac' ducks We should have paid him and resigned schoen to slowly get him back to form..and if that meant dumping Thomas...one of Wilson or Jones...Kramdi...Kolo....so be it...we'd be a better team for it Much like us extended ZC..so dumb And looked Iike 9th best...even his "great" game had a lot of red flag moments... Hopefully Jackson has some say/influence...
-
Very high % of his throws are outside the catch radius. Slightest pressure = panic. Slow decision matrix. I've seen enough. But Hogan, a rookie OC, may lack the cajones to make a change.
-
I haven't been up that way since doing engineering work for the Keeyask damn and work camp built up there..
-
So what you're saying is, guys who have only played 3 games have less stats? And Alexander a d collaros are a whole 2 yards different. Like I said, not a big sample size.
