While I don't think Wheatfall is useless, I do see that he has been a bit streaky. We let Lawler go in the off-season, and for the first half of the season this looked like an epic mistake, especially since we heard the difference was a few 10k. Then O. Wilson came back, and he has made an impact. And let's not forget Mitchell - held off the roster for how many games? Because he came to camp out of shape, or something like this - coaches know way more than us so gotta respect their decisions, but can still complain that he wasn't getting in to the line-up. I sure was wondering why he didn't crack it for so long. But now, he's coming on and making plays. Maybe, just maybe, Osh and the coaches know what they are doing and did the right thing in holding him out long enough. Stearns - I haven't followed him enough to have a take, but it sure seems this receiving corp is coming together. And just when Zach is back, and finding his 2019 form... (Okay, that last one was a flyer - he seriously looked back to 2019 form on Saturday, but it is one game, so I know that is a stretch. Still, it's a stretch that I can hope for and get behind!)

Unfortunate about Jones but with Woodbey Shay smith and the starters I’m not sure I see the spot for him. Linebackers have been good.

Meh he was good in Toronto, lost his job there, couldn’t crack a spot here, it’s not like there wasn’t an opportunity here to some degree because Younger likes using several linebackers in his schemes. Woodbrey who started lower on the pecking order surpassed Jones over time and just had an outstanding game.

Even Woodbey, who could play wil mac or all the db spots. More teams are going towards canadian lbers and tweeners at lbers and it’s becoming a less and less critical position. That said, I think Woodbey is exactly what teams should be looking for at one of the two lber spots especially at mac. Just like how biggie gave our Ds soo much versatility being able to pick guys up and carry deep. He’d be great at sam, or as a full time Wil. If, we don’t waste him.

I’d try to trade for Addison just as playoff insurance in case a WR or 2 get nicked up. He can do the stuff out of the backfield that Demski does and would be capable of covering any spot in the WR corps. Better than getting thinned out and having to use a guy like Corcoran in the playoffs.

They’d trade FAs who are coming up and might not resign, and places they want to spend more or less. That said, the last guy they are trading is brown. He’s young fairly cheap and locked up on multi years. I do wonder what’s up with elgersma. I thought he’d be up here if not getting an nfl pr spot. It isn’t coming this year for him now. Id be down with that for sure.

Why not get Crum? Ottawa would be more likely let him go as he is only signed for this season. He'd be great insurance if needed.

The only players Ottawa would trade are aging vets that they are iffy about resigning or know they are unlikely to ,Mauldin fits that mold. Just to throw it out there what about a trade of the rights to Elgersma and our 1st round pick for Dru Brown. Crum has been more effective for them and less injured Also how good would a cdn qb look in the nations capital. And we would have a qb if that one more hit happens to ours

Agree with both of you. Wheatfall looks good at times but has been very inconsistent and, from what I've seen, is not a very good blocker. And, he looks like a blade of wheat, legs too thin for the rest of his body. I don't think that it's much of a surprise that with the return of Wilson (and Stearns) and the insertion of Mitchell, the receiving corps is looking quite decent, IMO. Throw in a healthy Collaros and the opposition now have to show a little more "respect" for our guys.
