  1. Past hour
  2. If I was a DC, I think I'd like to have the opposing OC/HC with that primary mindset. Allows the ability to lay defensive traps etc.
  3. He was talking about Trevor Harris and TWIG one time and I just laughed. Classic Lapo. Take what is given...
  4. The big thing with Swaggerville was generating turnovers. But on the other side of ball, the O was mostly anemic. I remember them beating the Argos 13 - 12, with something like half a dozen turnovers from the D.
  5. Keys to the game, Remember the Run. Haven't had a dominant run game in a long time this year. Especially with logan back in, we have to run the offence through the run game. Any given back up, gotta beat em. We've seen just about every back up qb tear us up over the years. Gotta take advantage of the als missing qb1 and let the D feast. The replacements, gotta succeed. Lots of change this year in the secondary, ol, wr, and rb/back up. Aside from vaval as a KR, we haven't found that great next guy up this year. We could really use that, but barring that we atleast gotta have guys step up to be stalwarts for us. Players to watch, Wallace, rando, Logan, WJ (quiet out side of his big game this year) the wrs with schoen back practicing hopefully it motivates guys to step up, and the secondary. Any of em could be victims to brutal calls again, but we have a more talented group than we started the year with. A younger group too, who should at some point show flashes or more than flashes even.
  6. That's a bit revisionist. We didn't pro-actively bring Jones in to replace AB- Biggie was already on the 6 game list (injured May 15) and when we brought Jones in after Edmonton cut him (signed June 9). Jones also then sat on the PR for another month (added to the AR July 15). He didn't see a lot of meaningful action until Aug 18 against BC (he had 3 tackles in 3 games prior to that). Biggie got hurt during that game & again went on the 6 game list so Jones took over at that point (biggie only played 1 more game as a Bomber).
  7. 2013 almost broke me as a fan. I came VERY close to giving up my season tickets after that year.
  8. Even to this day as a broadcaster he still remains the same. Watching a game he was doing the color on, think the RedBlacks were marching down the field and he placed more emphasis on a field goal than on a touchdown. No killer instinct.
  9. lol...I've said it before and it's still true. Some have dug a hole so deep they've lost touch with reality. Win or lose this game, win or lose next game. etc etc on and on. MOS isn't going anywhere. Wins and Losses are important obviously. But average joe fan is buying tickets like they are going to stop selling them soon. We're approaching a record for sellouts in a row ( I believe we've tied it with the Banjo bowl now). $$$ matters A LOT. And a MOS team will be bringing in $$ for a while yet. Until that changes, MOS will be a bomber whether people like his roster setup or not.
  10. Fact we didnt need 3 on roster is part of it...I agree with the total argument...that as an "organization" we have dropped the ball repeatedly left tight and center on various issues and with various people in charge Samson as well was never given any rope...he could have been brought back after Ham let him go but believe he in Cgy now I just didnt mean at DT either...or that specific roster spot..that roster positionh could have been for any Canadian...we are woefully lean across the board This yr even..Bailey can come on as last roster spot for a Canadian...lotsa upside there and tho technically a Global isnt the average Global player...he should be on before about 3..4 guys I can think of off top my head In the end the HC sets the roiter and keeps/cuts who "he" feels is best...regardless of what any GM brings in...if he keeps sub par favorites over any new guy brought in...we will never know....even if they get no other shot elsewhere....that really means nothing when in all reality save for a real crappy player....and a real exceptional one...most guys across the board in the cfl are very comparable and on the same level...it's how they are coached, schemed and played along with guys beside them Osh has had success...sure ...but he gets wayyyy too much credit for the whole thing....and it's just not the case....he's not the whole/main reason....so on that basis when things go wrong...and have been trending in wrong way 4 yrs now...then he should get all the blame too then...right...cause he gets glorified as the dear leader if not for Oshea...yeah buts and all the sucess too many is sole result of him Football is a collective thing with success and failure....but also it's always the HC neck on the line first when sucess starts to falter...and should be here. That's all I'm saying....we will be fine without Osh if he was to be gone next yr...probably better for it than if we retained him. He's gotten stale....and his message isnt what it was...happens to all coaches....12 yrs is a long time...can be said too long too...If we were dominating and won 5 cups in a row and consensus favorite to do it again...then this a non issue...but we ain't...and the trajectory based on what we seen last 3..4 yrs and the reason(s) why say change is needed Today is a good litmus test....we should by all means walk away with this game....if we dont, and squeek out another fluke or b.s win...there's issues....we lose and look like we have in other pathetic losses this yr....it's time....
  11. I think 2013 was the true nadir of the bombers, the darkest moment before the dawn of the present age. Reinbold's teams were terrible, but they has spirit and Milt Stegall played out of his mind in 1997. 1600 yards with Chris Vargas and Kevin McDougall as your quarterbacks. Unbelievable. There were a couple of fun Kelly games too -- Fred Reid's big outing in BC plus that home game where Michael Bishop passed for like 450 yards. bomb after bomb after bomb. 2013 had no such moments. 2013 was just unrelenting ****.
  12. Today
  13. Among other things, yes. I suspect that Tony Jones was brought in a a placeholder until Bighill could walk out onto the field without the use of a cane.
  14. The D in 2011 was amazing. But it was still a Lapo team. He coaches teams to be good enough to just barely lose. Defense dragged the to the initial record but that was unsustainable. Without them scoring lapo just did not have the instincts to play to win rather than play not to lose.
  15. You do have the luxury of doing both! You can absolutely dress backups who can play special teams but are primarily on the roster for their defensive or offensive ability. Ayers last offseason was kept because he was the best special teams player but there were other linebackers showed better at linebacker in preseason. We dress linebackers at DE for special teams reasons rather than an actual DE who can take reps on D and help that position. We have 0 for depth at receiver because they'd rather linebackers or dbs for special teams. No one builds a roster like oshea does.
  16. This era has been the best time to be a Bomber fan in my life. The success may soon be coming to an end (plenty of season left to see) but history will remember this time fondly. Ironically feel like the fan complaining has stayed the same, despite the huge change in success from those horrible regimes to this excellent one.
  17. Bighill was in tandem before he was injured. Check your facts. I don't mind when someone has a fact based gripe, but you are ignoring the fact that we had already taken 40% of his snaps away prior to injury. How does that equate to him for sure being our starter if he isn't injured. The facts say otherwise. Sorry to burst your bubble but all teams use their roster exactly like we do, Why? Because in the CFL there are going to be guys on every roster that are just there for the teams because we have a small roster size and a NAT and Global minimum to uphold. You are acting like we have the luxury of doing both and we don't. no team does.
  18. Well these are a bunch of s****y memories you guys are digging up on game day. I hope tonight does not resemble those dark times in any way shape or form! 😂 Talking about Tim Burke as HC instantly brings back memories of Jason Boltus - easily the worst performance I've seen from a "pro" QB live.
  19. In hindsight that 2011 team was completely overrated. Lost back to back games against the 2-7 Saskatchewan Roughriders, finished the season 10-8 after starting the season 7-2 or 8-4. A lot of playmakers on D but still allowed nearly 25 points a game. Offence was average at best. It just gets remembered more fondly because of how bad our team was before and afterwards. Fun season for sure but not even in the same league as any of the Bomber teams from 2016 onwards.
  20. Bighill would still be starting if he didn't get hurt, we failed to have guys in place to groom. I know you like to say it's all on walters but I don't buy it because we've seen this team have an ability to replace players with rookies in the past. The problems are that we don't use the roster for depth, it's used for special teams players or situational players (like a 7th OL).
  21. MIKE was already seeing Tony Jones taking about 40% of the d snaps from Bighill and the fact we brought in Tony Jones speaks to the plan to turn that position over. That was pretty good future planning really. Anyone else in the LBer crew? Some could argue KW needs replacement but we do have both Jones and Ayers in waiting there so again, future planning in place. DL, you have a point on Jeffcoat not being adequately replaced or the interior of the DL, but that falls on the GM really who has brought in pretty lousy talent through recruitment and free agency. Offensive line who exactly are you talking about? Bryant? Neufeld? because those two guys are still playing at a pretty high level. Yoshi is gone but Lofton is an adequate replacement. Bryant has Vanterpool behind him. Where exactly is the lack of planning for replacement. Unless you are just saying we need to get rid of all veterans over 30 because they are over 30 regardless of whether they still got game and that younger means better no matter what. Is that what you are getting at?
  22. He was also pretty short lived as head coach... but yeah Tim Burke had some truly lifeless performances.
  23. Osh coaches like he would have wanted to be coached, and I have this big suspicion that osh wouldn't have appreciated a coach playing a young guy ahead of him. So if you're being an osh type player you're bullet proof. Osh never retired, that says it all. He's got blinders when it comes to long in the tooth veterans who made up the core of the teams best years. Guys like Wally Buono erred on the side of replacing guys too soon as opposed to too late. Osh is the opposite.
  24. Yea..what coach plays rookies ahead of Vets? Not many unless they are rebuilding or have to because of injuries...or the rookie forces them to out of sheer talent.
