Did anyone else see Trudeau and Rona Ambrose dragging the new speaker of the House to his chair today to mark the election of a new speaker, per old parliamentary traditions?  I love those old traditions. Does anyone know how that tradition started?  (I do, just asking if anyone else does).  I also loved the fact that neither Harper or Mulcair were a part of the dragging ceremony.  Talk about refreshing.  And Rona sure looks better than Steve or Angry Tom! :)

Tom is staying! Great, grind the socialists into the ground. Angry Tom will be Great Grandpa Tom next election. Almost too old to serve & getting dentures fitted.

All this issue has proven is that a lot of the people posting in the political threads here are full of ****. One man's whiny crybaby is another man's astute critic. Which one your are depends on who you support.

Moot point. No one is making you engage in this thread

Exactly, don't like it then don't play.

and speaking of Trudeau, his attendance at the Paris climate party wasn't a complete loss.  I was heartened to see this tweet from him:

With PM @Netanyahu today. I look forward to continuing & strengthening the strong friendship between Canada & Israel

I am glad to see that he respects our relationship with Israel. I would hate to see him flush that relationship down the toilet to appease the radical left who are so in love with Hamas and other Israel-hating terrorist groups.

True, hopefully he can help Bibi with rolling back the illegal settlements in the west bank and Gaza too.

I will just focus on what the government passes and does or don't do and make my judgement on that, you know the stuff that matters.

Awesome - yes you are so sophisticated and much more in tune with issues than everyone else here.  Bully for you.  You should let Mulcair know this as well, given he also weighed in on this issue too, even though it was trivial.  Why would he do that?  Oh well.

As for singling you out, you are the one who was chastising and calling out people on these boards to stop being disrespectful of the PM and the post. I didn't see anyone else doing it (calling people out for being disrespectful of The PM), if there was I am sorry for singling you out. But then all your post about JT are doing exactly what you were shitting on people for doing... so hypocrite works here.

As for singling me out, NO, I was not the one who was chastising and calling out people on these boards to stop being disrespectful.  At least, I don't recall doing that.  What I do recall saying was that Harper deserved to be scorned and I was fine with that, but what I didn't like was people deliberately inventing lies about Harper, and posting them here.  That was wrong.  So, you are wrong.

Not sure who this guy is exactly but the fact that he is associated with Rebel Media demonstrates that they have lost both their minds and their credibility......if they ever had any to begin with that is.

Very disrespectful.  He's the friggen Prime Minister (or about to become).  I hated it when PM Harper was personally attacked and I hate it when it's JT.  Respect the position.  It defeats the argument.

Now its entirely possible what this person is saying is true about Trudeau being "dumb".  I dont know him.  But thats a poor way to make a point.

I agree.  Just like the nuts and loons attacked Harper with mostly made up gibberish and out-right lies, this video is disgraceful in the same way.  I am all for criticism, but let it be fact-based.  Attacking Trudeau before he's even sworn in is just sour grapes, I am afraid.

So, to make this simple:

TUP said "He's the friggen Prime Minister (or about to become).  I hated it when PM Harper was personally attacked and I hate it when it's JT.  Respect the position"

You Said "I agree"

Yet later on, you refer to JT as "Shiny Pony", "sunny family" that, "entitled brat" this.

I made the hypocrite comment based on this. Ironically,  you were defending JT...

If I have misinterpreted the above, my apologies.

If you want to continue this, feel free to PM me so we can spare the good people in the forums.

That is all. I leave it at that.

"Entitled Brat" isnt an insult to the position.  It's an opinion of the person and many would agree its true.  He *is* entitled and has been his entire life.

Not many people really complained about insults to Harper's hair.  I think you're splitting hairs when it comes to respecting the position of PM and not making amusing or critical statements.

Its not disrespect to call into question Trudeau's handling of his Nanny's.

Sigh, if that's all you have, my agreeing with a poster that I don't like to see the office of prime minister disrespected, then I concede I guess, but it's pretty weak sauce, and I think you got caught confusing me with TUP, and now are just back-peddling, which is fine, I would have been actually a lot more impressed if you had just admitted your mistake..  That wasn't my intention to say that no one is allowed to criticize the PM, as there is a huge difference between disrespect and legitimate criticism, something the Anti-Harper squad could never figure out or gave one whit about.. Especially in cases where the person occupying the position commits blatant hypocrisy, as was/is the case with Trudeau and his nannies.  And that's not just my opinion, but Thomas Mulcair's as well.

At any rate, I don't think that anyone should be shackled from stating that they disagree with something that the Prime Minister is doing, no matter what party is in power.  I just don't like it when out of partisanship, blatant lies are manufactured and parroted, usually by special interest groups, be they Ezra Levant on Trudeau, or some "coalition" that blatantly lies about health care.policies of the Conservatives.  I have found some of Ezra's attacks on Trudeau almost as repugnant as the lies told about Harper.

What I found interesting was the lack of criticism coming from a lot of extremely vocal political pundits here.  The excuse was given that it wasn't significant enough to comment on, which I think is a cop-out, but whatever.  One thing I believe to be true, and that is that we have just seen the tip of the iceberg.  What will be the breaking point for those who choose to remain mum?  The Liberals have already broken their promise regarding the cap on the deficit.  How big will it grow? And how long can they keep blaming the Conservatives (Ie how long will even the staunchest and willfully blind give them that slack?)  We will see.

Just waiting for Trudeau's response.  If the perk of child care is in his job contract like the chef, the groundskeeper and the housekeepers, good on him, he's got the most important job in the country and is entitled to the support mechanisms.

I believe Trudeau took this job with some trepidation from his own experience growing up in a fishbowl to the effects it could have on his family.  If the stress of being PM is too much for his family to sustain (re:happy wife) I wouldn't be surprised if he did not run for re-election next time around.

Well, most people dont go from drama teacher to PM.  So they are well aware of the stresses of public life and serving the nation.  if Trudeau isnt aware of this, he shouldnt even have run.

I dont believe the PM has a contract which spells out that he gets a groundskeeper, chef and maid.  Those employees are provided to the asset (the property).  He has a budget to hire other employees.    Someone else correct me if Im wrong.

The issue is how he chooses to use that money.  Its fair game to be critical of him when there is something we dont like about the budget so why cant we be critical about how he uses his taxpayer funded household budget?

Im more annoyed at what a flaming hypocrite this makes him.  "We dont need or want $3000 a year for child care.  But we'll take $30,000 a year for child care."  Ridiculous.

The election is over. It's possible that people won't be coming here to comment on everything that happens anymore, especially since the guy they voted for won.  I'm not sure everybody has the same zeal for arguing politics as you do.

I know that Trudeau went from acting in a film in 2007 to leader of the Liberals.

So excuse me.  Bit actor to leader of the opposition.

Do you need me to list all the things Harper did between University and PM?  There will be a few more than Trudeau.

Keep spinning.  You keep conveniently leaving stuff out.

Trudeau did go not directly from a single small movie role to leader of the oppostion.  If that makes him an actor, then his fight with Brazzeau must make him a boxer too right?

I'm not saying that Trudeau has the resume that Harper does, but you keep making leaps from something in his past directly to where he now so it works both ways.

Not really. I didn't follow him around for the entire year 2007. I suppose he could have done a lot between his movie and running for the 08 election.

Either way he doesn't have the resume of Harper which was seemingly a point you were trying to make and failed to do so.

I was making a point about his lack of experience. Which is a fair point. Don't get so defensive when your boy gets criticised. ;). Save for the angry responses for when someone is unfair to him.

Trudeau has been an MP since 2008.

Other than Ben Mulroney and siblings, Trudeau probably understands the stresses of public life better than anyone.

How does this account for security?  Fact is we don't know what perks are included in the PM job description, the complete operation is set up and run by the privy council to effect a smooth transition, so there are guidelines already in place, no matter the PM.

The issue is how he chooses to use that money.  Its fair game to be critical of him when there is something we dont like about the budget so why cant we be critical about how he uses his taxpayer funded household budget?

Go for it, no one is censoring you.... booyah!

If you become the next PM of Canada I won't begrudge you the same hypocrisy of taking what is offered.  Wasn't it Preston Manning who said he wouldn't move into Stornoway on principle....and then did?

Sorry if my post caused you discomfort.  Ill try to label sarcasm and facetiousness moving forward to make things easier for you.

Did you need that list of Harper's resume?  Or can we just stipulate that Trudeau lacks experience and save us both the trouble?

I would like to see the resume. I just assumed he got his econ degree out of a cracker jack box based on his performance and his interpretation of the country's economic position under his watch.

Is this actually true?? They can't be advocating making it illegal for so called denier groups to express their positions can they?

TORONTO — Six leading Canadians are calling on the Commissioner of Competition to investigate false and misleading representations made by climate change denier groups, such as Friends of Science.

Ecojustice lawyer Charles Hatt filed the complaint today on behalf of Stephen Lewis, Tzeporah Berman, Dr. David Schindler, Dr. Thomas Duck, Dr. Danny Harvey, and Devon Page.

“Canada needs to have an honest conversation about climate change and how we are going to accelerate our transition to clean, low-carbon energy sources,” Hatt said. “Our ability to do that is undermined when denier groups pollute the public square with falsehoods and junk science.”
