Blue Jays

Anyone else following them as intently as I am right now? They are on fire after the trade deadline moves.

I'm a little concerned that AA left the minor league pitching cupboards a little too bare, especially with the Price trade. Even though they gave up the guys with the highest potential in Hoffman and Castro, I think the return was worth it, since Reyes had regressed so quickly. In getting Price though, AA gave up a couple of guys who would likely have been solid starters in a year or two in exchange for a rental. A very good rental, but a rental none the less. Without the Price move, I'm not sure if the Tulo and Revere moves alone would have provided the morale boost and buzz that we're seeing now that could propel them into the playoffs.

The positive thing is that we have most of our current position players returning next year, which will ensure very good defensive play and offensive continuity, but it will be a challenge to pull together a complete starting rotation and bullpen without being pretty active in free agency. Pitchers currently on the roster who they have no control over include Estrada, Buhrle, Price, Hawkins, and Lowe.

So, I just want to be clear about something. That tweet about who threw the beer can... A Post Media journalist?? That's unbelievable.

He even tweeted "what a waste of beer" after it happened.  Pretty clever way to throw people off his trail...

Twitter no more

If he did that then throw the book at him with criminal charges & fire his ass out the door. Totally stupid & unprofessional.

this is how I feel exactly...I like how a home broadcaster knows the players, but our broadcast crew is just so awful. Universally known as the worst in all the majors...hell, our radio crew is better than our TV crew.

Wow I've been watching Buck for years and never knew he was so bad.  Thanks for enlightening me.  My dad watches every inning of every Jays game and now I have to break this news to him, he's going to be so disappointed  in himself for liking Buck and Tabbie when he should have been hating them.  This is really going to be hard to do, but it must be done.

I still remember that game last year against KC where Sanchez hit the KC batter and got thrown out.  Buck went nuts.  I loved it.

The guy accused of throwing the can is denying it.  He says he was drinking beer out of cups not cans and some of the footage supports that claim (doesn't mean that he couldn't have done it though).

the guy beside him has a can of beer in his hand....hmmmm......

I've seen the cups vs cans argument a few times now and it doesn't really make any sense to me.  He could easily have had a cup of beer and a can.  Seems like the weakest possible defence.

I feel bad for this guy - this is really on the Blue Jays for not selling beer in cups that disintegrate when they travel beyond the outfield wall.

what surprises me the most is that tallboy was full (ish) nice waste of 15 bucks right there AND Hyun-Soo Kim still made the catch.  That's just a fail on so many levels

it's a waste of money paying for yellow swill in the first place......garbage InBev product.

When their starters are cruising and the bats are swinging like they can, this team is very very dangerous....

This video seems to show that they got the right guy:

Guy beside doesn't leave and not come back though. Hmmmm

I saw that video and to me it's not conclusive that it was him.  It really looks like it but it also looks like it may have come from someone in front of him.  And what's more, is that even the same beer that landed on the turf... we don't see that part.  This beer may have also been thrown but landed short of the wall.  We can't tell from the video.  I hope the police have access to better footage.

yeah exactly. weve also been spoiled with some amazing sportscasters too.

so im watching the cleveland/bosox game and the indians hit back to back jacks.  The broadcaster then says this place is "Toronto loud".  is this actually a thing now? or just same guy who called the wildcard game?

Skydome is f***ing ridiculous when it gets going during a Jays game...

The video shows that the person who threw it had a dark blue sweater on. It can look a little deceiving because the thrower had a Blue Jays shirt under the sweater that was the same colour as the guy in front of him but that guy has his hands down when the beer can was thrown.

The guy has been charged and can argue you it in court.

I think the biggest question is whether the Toronto Sun will give out their $1,000 reward for identifying the guy.

Yeah, I mean it definitely looks like it was him but that video is not 100% conclusive.

As far as the reward goes, who would they give the reward to?  It's not clear that there was any one person who ID'd him.

If looks convicted u he's guilty but then he's holding a beer. That empty spot tho to his upper left is interesting.

I am lucky Cubs have one of the best duos in baseball in Len Casper and Jim Deshaise

TULO!! man our bats need to come back to life, considering Happ has let on (but were left on) 2 runners every inning,  its only a matter of time before they start cashing them in. need some insurance in a hurry

soo hard to put up runs the game after an offensive out burst. Any time i see a big number from this offense i wish it would be a little bit smaller and the next game a bit bigger.
