Drew Willy to Organize Practice if Players Strike

Nice leadership statement coming from our new QB.   Wonder what facility they would be able to get to practice in.   Are all the players still flying in?  Who is paying for their flights if there is a strike?

A really great idea needs all the time he can get to get acquainted with his receivers

Great too see from the young QB!

Maybe Walters will accidently leave the door to IGF unlocked on the days DW needs a facility for unofficial practices.

I think most agents would advise their players not to participate as they wouldn't be covered if they were injured.  Too risky if you ask me.

Okay wet blanket here. Although admirable on Willy's part, would there not be some injury insurance and legal issues if an agreement is not in place to hold such a thing? I know, how to ruin a good news story. Carry on.

Wouldn't be much of a practice.  They'd have no equipment, they'd have to head to Canadian Tire to buy a ball.

I don't think there's much harm in running some routes and tossing the ball around... I realize there's injury potential just making cuts and such, but I don't think these guys are gonna push it to the limit... just get to know each other and build some chemistry, have some fun

I'm not aware of any legal issues, that would prevent players from having some pickup football games just as you and I might, but the insurance question is legit.  That being said, players workout all off season with injury risk, and many QB's and receivers get together for some pass drills throughout the winter.

Do the players not work out, run around, play ball in the off-season?  No difference.

I guess I'm wondering if there is any differences between off-season and season when it comes to legal/injury insurance issues for the players . . .

Good to hear that our new star QB is taking initiative to try to get his team kick-started.

No doubts not to mention some guys have injured themselves via stubbing toe in the shower.

I am guessing if there is a strike vote the coaches will make sure they have things they need to maybe have a few constructive practices together.

Big difference between a work out and a practice isn't there? This would probably resemble more what they do on their own in the off-season for conditioning. I mean the D hasn't even seen a playbook...  oh wait...

Yeah maybe some coaches would leave their info on a table where DW and his receivers could "come across" it, Walters leaves IGF unlocked (whoops, forgot) and these practices commence.

I would guess the difference would be that it would be "off-season" time so if they got hurt, they are SOL.

I'm not sure they can afford a ball if they go on strike.....Isn't this why they are going on strike in the first place!

More importantly, will they get in some strength training cleaning up dead elms on my yard?  Anything less shows a lack of committment to fitness.

I am sure they will be able to practice at the field beside the indoor soccer complex.

I guess Drew is going to feed and house them as well?

I believe the issue is that if a player got hurt and was out for a few games.  The team is under no obligation to pay him or cover his rehab.

What's the problem?

That's probably how Canad Inns got tagged by Rider fans a couple years back...

The last thing the bombers need after the crap from the last few years, is a strike. I completely lost interest in the team last year, I'm getting interested again.

Please work this out.
