CB Stephon Morris

Undersized ... Penn State ...

Should announce his signing some time next week

Thanks for the videos. He definitely looks like a playmaker and good tackler.

More than happy to have a Big 10 player on the roster, especially a school that runs a defence like Penn State always has.

@audsnyder4: Former #PSU CB Stephon Morris confirms he recently signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Was in camp with the Patriots last year.

I just hope that he hasn't been watching the weather reporting for Winnipeg for the past couple of months.

Video says 5'9" 190 lbs... But the psu site says 5'8" 186 lbs. Either way, a playmaker cb with some wheels. Looking forward to seeing more Danny Mac/Ted Goveia prospects at camp.

They've had some nasty weather in New England this year, didn't seem to bother him. Looks like a Suber proto-type alright. We'll see what he brings to tc.

Too short.

Too short.

Suber short

I hope to not to have to see Suber in the starting line up ever again.

Yeah! No one likes having good players starting for us.

Well Mack never liked to have good players starting for us....

Do you really want to go with that statement?

I like Suber and all, but no one can say that his height doesn't hinder him.  Heck being that short hinders any DB.

We just can't have too many midgets back there.

A professional team shouldn't have any in their secondary.

Antoine Winfield maybe the best tackling DB in the past 20 years in the NFL is the same height give a inch than Suber. I could probably give a laundry list of DB's that are 5'7" - 5'8" that have been widely successful.

How about CFL.......Eddie Davis comes to mind but he was 5'10"........I will try and locate some.

being tall can also hinder a db because trust me, tall people in general don't have as much quickness as short players in general. It's just physics. I don't care how tall they are if they can cover. Sure all things being equal taller is better but if the short guy can cover then by all means play him. It just blows my mind how many people continually crap on Suber just because he's a shorter player, there have been a ton of great dbs in the CFL who are short.

If he can cover and tackle, size isn't a factor.... Suber can cover and tackle

dbs are the shortest players on the field on average. Very rarely can a guy over 6 feet cover well enough.

5'10" is about the minimum for the position. Physically, there should be little difference between players at this level, so giving away 2 inches is a big deal.

Suber has proven to be a good tackler but id' rather not have to rely on him chasing down bigger stronger receivers all game.

The good DBs that you want on your team are the ones who can make up for their smaller size and use it to their advantage.  Their just as quick off the ball, and sometimes have just as good of an ability to make a play at a jump ball.  They can be underestimated by their opponents too.

I didn't see any problems in Suber's game when he lines up with, oh , say Jamel Richardson, a bigger, stronger receiver, who absolutely would get frustrated facing Suber.

And this right there is why people shouldn't worry about his size. Richardson is one of the biggest guys out there and Suber has a history of frustrating the hell out of him.

He'll always be at a disadvantage when it comes to jump balls on taller receivers but thus far it hasn't been much of an issue. Suber knows his strengths and weaknesses as a player and stays within himself and it works. He's not flashy but he is a damned good defensive back.
