Surprised.  I really though Paul Lapolice would get the gig.

A little off the board here IMO. I was thinking Lapo was going to get the job, or Marcel.

Out of the short list they had cut it down to, he's far and away the best candidate in my opinion.

Agreed.  Great choice, IMO.

I like Rick Campbell and I think is a good choice.   I'm sure they're hoping he brings that "Midas Touch" his father had.    

I think LaPo would have been my hire there.

Really thought that Lapo had the buzz because of his TSN gig. People seem to see "On TSN" as "Highly Credible" for some reason. Hmmm...gotta think he'll get a co-ordinator spot somewhere.

I'm thinking it had more to do with being an unemployed former head coach who took his team to the Grey Cup in his second season.

Calgary will probably promote Mark Kilam to DC.  He's been their STC for a few years but was also their asst DC with the team and LB's coach.   He's very well regarded within the organization.

Cant see that paying that much (Cue Nate with 200-300K speculations).

 

I would suspect the TSN thing is way less than 100Gs

Yeah of course but that was just a supplement to his BB salary he was still collecting.  Not sure you can live off of a 2 minute segment 4 times a weekend, especially on a Canadian sports network, and with three hungry children to feed now.

Surprise here by fans & media in Calgary. Everyone thought he was going to Edmonton. When they hired Jones everyone thought he'd be coming back. He was a so so DC in Edmonton but a very good one here so hard to judge if he's the right guy or the best candidate available. Again, like Jones in Edmonton, O'Shea here & now supposedly Campbell in Ottawa, all rookie head coaches. No one knows if that's a good or bad thing. Only time will tell.

Defensive Coordinator.... He was a linebacker in the CFL.  That was his history as a coach also.

He has been a DL coach, OL Coach, OC, Ast HC, HC etc. etc.  I don't really care what position they give him but he might be worth a look....although I doubt that happens.
