It would be great if we could cordon off the section of society that comments frequently on Facebook like in Escape from New York or something.

lol. No bomber post has more than 100 comments online and if it does it’s because rider fans are trolling.

Is that 15 including the AIchat bot of nasty nate?

Thanks to Randy Ambrosie & the CFL Coaches & Admin Cap for that. It has to go.

We need to get Kevin Cline up here, STAT!!

Idk if Cline will be up here this year, if he is I don't think he will see the field. Likely a next year guy imo.

This could be a huge L for grassroots up here. Sure, it is possible to turn around; some arenas have gone from NBA to NHL many times a month. But it is gonna be a PITA and will likely limit showcase games / lower level championship games, and is yet another sticking point for making the transition from college to pro.

I hate the field/upright changes and I hope the CFL changes its mind.

If fans across the CFL would show up for games then they wouldn't have to look internationally for revenue & growth. For the CFL, Canada is a dead zone. I believe the fans that ***** the most don't go to the games anyway. if they love our game then where are they???

You'd think Trump Derangement Syndrome would make Canadians want to support "our game". But nope, hate the Amerians. Don't drink their liquor, don't vacation in America, we MUST buy Canadian but when it comes to the CFL, it's just minor league football. Let's support the Bills, the Lions, the Vikings & the Seahawks. Let's drive 27 hours from Winnipeg to Kansas City to watch their games. let;s walk around in NFL jerseys mocking the CFL. Because it's supposedly better football. fans in Sougthern Ontario s upport the NFL, NBA & MLB despite our trade war with the USA. Yeah, to me it's total bullshit.

I have a theory that gambling oddsmakers hate the 10-point swing that comes on a missed field goal TD return.

this is totally idle speculation based on zero hard information, but the CFL isn't exactly being forthcoming about why they're changing the rules.

totally buy that. the pressure gambling revenue has put on pro sports is crazy

Great theory, had not thought of it but I'd buy it.

Productive, talented, athletic, not a role player. He had a decent chance to stick longer in the nfl tbh. We picked a low-ceiling lunchbox guy who we knew would be here.

Nope. I just wonder why Canadians refuse to embrace our game. Even with the trade war, tariffs & the insults our country has endured from Trump himself, they still watch the NFL over the CFL. Raptor games sell out. They cheer for the Blue Jays, CFL games play in small, half empty stadiums. Crowds under 20000 are the norm now not the exception.

It seems Canadians in Eastern Canada & in particular Southern Ontario could care less. I don't need to be told to not buy American or not to travel to the USA by a bunch of hypocritical Canadians in Ontario who support the NFL & reject the CFL. Or who say they won't drink Jack Daniels or Jimmy Beam but still go to ML sporting events in Toronto. Well, **** them. So no, I'm definitely not a fan of Trump. I expected Canadian football fans to wrap themselves in the Maple Leaf supporting everything Canadian like the CFL but it never happened.

Oh & I see a certain someone hid behind your comments as he always does liking what you said. You blocked me you little troll. Don't make any comments on what I said.

Hard to compete with the NFL.

NFL has better:

Talent, marketing, league dynamics, broadcasting etc etc etc?

The CFL is very niche and hasn't kept up with what is needed to attract younger generations.

Football Canada won't be able to adjust fields even if they want to. Talking millions upon millions of dollars to do that from high school and community programs that just scrape by relying on donations to try to let kids play. Most programs are struggling to buy equipment and field paint that all comes from the US. Cans of field paint up 150% since the start of this decade. Helmets and shoulder pads almost doubled in price. Tariffs on everything, all coming up from US.

We can't charge people $1500 in fees for a football season and expect the sport to keep growing. Charge $500, have half the people able to pay even that, rely on fundraising, donations and programs that will cover fees for people who can't pay within limits.

can’t even compete with the power 4 divisions in d1 any more on any of those points.

The cfl is in front of the american association that the gold eyes play in and behind the frontier league. behind mls and wnba.

The cfl has fallen far, far behind and the demographic is ancient. The combination of fan base age and being on the fringe of the 2nd tier of sports leagues is extremely dangerous.

Is there real data saying the demographics are ancient? My friends and I are in our 30s and mega-fans who bring our children to games. Bomber home games are party zones for people of all ages.

How much of this narrative is the same doom and gloom the CFL has been hearing for decades?

Every couple of years we see data sets released on cfl target demo the bombers do have a better grip on a younger market with the rum hut but league wide it is a real problem. you also see this across football right now. From grass roots to nfl the fan base has aged and they are struggling to compete with the nba, mlb, soccer etc

A new poll from Probe Research may have focused on the CFL’s incoming rule changes, but it indicated two encouraging demographic trends in the process. A poll from the Angus Reid Institute in 2023 sho

I mean, you linked a positive data set.

that’s a slight improvement in trend, that is not a positive data set.

14% up from 11, mlb is 30% just from 16-19. The pitch clock changes are polled at 80% chance they’d watch in the same demo as the cfls 14%.

The solution is simple. It's just done at the U Sport level. There's no need to change it at the high school & community levels.

The CFL pays for maintenace of the U Sport stadiums they use. Remember the condition of Percival Molson Stadium with a tree growing through the stadium grandstand when the Als moved back in. McGill let the stadium fall into such disrepair that it was nearly condemned.

Who spent the money to fix things? The Alouettes spent tens of millions to renovate the stadium twice. In Calgary, the University of Calgary has siphoned off money from the Stamps through the McMahon Stadium Society since 1960. The Dinos have contributed nothing. The Stamps themselves have paid for imaintenance, increased seating capacity & numerous turf field replacements for decades.

In Winnipeg, has the University of MB paid for any of the maintenance to Princess Auto Stadium? Remember the dinky little Pan Am Stadium the Bisons played in for 40 years? It's still there. I assume it's used by the sports community in Winnipeg.

If the CFL suddenly disappeared, the U Sport cash cows would be gone & these universiities who won't spend a penny of their money would suddenly be responsible for any maintenace & improvements. Maybe another tree would grow under & through the grandstand at Percival Molson once more before it collapses.

Lions social media team is pretty quiet at the moment. 😅
