25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread

Is this ever a guy we should take a run at? I really like Pokey as a receiver but not sure he's a 1A Superstar guy... Would you ever take a run at Hatcher as your #1 and then have Pokey and Demski as 2/3?

I hate change. This is going to take me like a year to get used to.

Can confirm - ran it through Google Translate and this is what came back:

  • Brady is the most complete running back in the CFL full stop. Rushing, receiving, blocking, no one does it all as well as he does.   Now that doesn't automatically make the contract he got w

I hope we sign this RB. Always good to have a fun TCF name to root for.

Rocker looks to be an interesting signing- comes across in interview as modest and intelligent, with a large skillset as RB, receiver and kick returner.

I disagree. Being on a PR doesn't help his development. Trying out for NFL teams doesn't either. Neither is a series or 2 against the scrubs in NFL exhibition games. He has to play. He has to work to become a starting qb in the CFL. He'll never get a shot to start in the NFL. Yeah, he will make more money on an NFL practice squad but he's closing the door on the chance to start up here & maybe develop into a great qb. He's wasting his time right now. It's hard to believe that he's wearing blinders like a horse. Majority of players would have moved to other opportunities by now.

you can only learn so much from sitting and holding a clipboard. His biggest challenge is getting up to speed vs the massive step up in calibre from cis to pro. hes not going to get much for reps as the pr or qb3.

He’s going to pretty quickly find him self stuck in a spot where hes not good enough to be a qb2/1 and can’t get enough reps/hands on coaching to grow as qb3/4.

We're all going to TC like this to support Stevie Rocker, right?

So they just swapped MLBs. I think BC probably got the better end of the deal.

Fun fact, added to neg list does not mean signed 😆👍

stanback retires. was a lot of fun to watch run

In his prime it felt like he was always guaranteed a 5 yard run even if two guys were grabbing a hold of him.

This is William Stanbeck's retirement announcement on social media. I usually read these announcements & 99% of them all sound the same but this really feels heartfelt. Even though he never played for the Bombers, I'm going to miss him.

Two-time All-CFL running back William Stanback retires

American running back William Stanback has retired after seven seasons in the Canadian Football League. The 31-year-old spent the 2025 season with the Ottawa

I've always felt he and Brady O played with similar grit - just gutted it out.

That knee injury Stanbeck suffered really affected him. He was the best running back in the CFL hands down when he got hurt. Stanbeck was never as dominant after he came back. Therefore, never saw him play at his full potential very long because of it. Became a journeyman running back.

So I just saw an add for the Mexican (I think) football league. They are going to be streaming on ESPN2 and Disney+...apparently the game is tonight. So I guess we will see.

Wow, I can't wait. So, if a Mexican beer league can get on Disney+ then why can't the CFL?

Because they're a tequila league - of Patron ilk

TSN is likely the answer

Projected first-round pick Kevin Cline added to 2026 CFL...

An already-deep offensive line class in the 2026 CFL Draft has become even deeper. Boston College offensive lineman Kevin Cline has been added to the draft s

I mean to be fair here I could write a tv show and Disney plus could pick it up but if nobody watches it then who cares. Nobody would watch the cfl on Disney plus just like only 22 ppl will watch the Mexican league. I guess a big difference is a large portion of America is not fans of Canada since their supreme leader says so. Surely someone with more tech ability than me can find the average cfl game ratings for games broadcast in the USA. Obviously the demand just isn’t there and honestly why would it be. Why would Americans care about the cfl when they have plenty of sports options. UFL ratings don’t look great. NHL ratings aren’t great. Baseball fluctuates depending on who plays who. Playoff basketball draws but regular season don’t. NFL is king tho. CFL would draw less than the UFL because Americans really don’t support things not American. Even soccer is having a hard time actually drawing numbers. The stadiums are all smaller than ours. I think reality is 350 million people down there. Maybe a million know the cfl exists. I mean last time I was in California and Vegas (about 7 years ago 8 actually now), Americans were surprised I was so tanned. They literally thought we had snow year round folks. They don’t know about us. We know way more about them. Bottom line. It’s not worth it to Disney Amazon Netflix etc if you only drawing 10000 viewers. Maybe regularly draw a million per on tsn first. Not just bombers and rider games and then streaming services might be like hmm interesting. And if they wanna do a test game it’s bombers vs riders anyways as those are the 2 some in the USA have now heard of. Jason Kelce for the W.

CFL. Pro league here in our country Canada. In the USA it’s just another minor league to the nfl. Do I think you could put a cfl team in some us markets and draw? Yes. St. Louis is one for sure as they don’t have an nfl team. They supported xfl and UFL and would put 35000 for cfl Also. I’m just not sure where else and probably don’t think now is the time for American expansion but if you want streaming in the USA and globally in reality you gonna have to start thinking expansion. CFL should do like Touchdown St Louis or whatever and see what happens but now is not the time for US expansion.

If expansion is done right it could work. The CFL have to find investors in cities where there's no pro or college team close by. You go to Birmingham & you have the Univ of Alabama & Troy University nearby. Same in Memphis.

Expansion was strictly a money grab by the CFL in the 90's & not well thought out. If we put a CFL team in St. Louis the NFL will do what they did in Baltimore, crush us with an expansion team. Oakland may work. Then, who knows? What;s to say a vengeful Roger Goodell & the NFL putting an NFL team in Toronto out of spite.

San Diego & Sacramento have actually built new football stadiums since the last time they had NFL & CFL teams. They aren't NFL sized stadiums but in the 25-30000 seating capacity range. Tacoma, Washington has the Tacoma Dome that seats 20,000 & a huge population surrounding it. It's at least an hour by car on the freeway to downtown Seattle & Lumen Field with the Seahawks. Even further north along I-5 to Husky Stadium & the Univ of Washington Huskies.b15aab4c-3fa7-47bd-add1-a1b34db3b8f1_1140x641.jpg

Tacoma Dome. Capacity 21,000. It hasn't had a professional sports tenant since 2002 because of Lumen Field as well as the Key Arena in Seattle & other newer sports venues both north & south. The Seattle Thunderbirds moved to a new arena in Kent, Washington. The Tacoma Dome could be looking for a new tenant & a CFL team may be one answer. Although renos would need to be done.

Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego. Capacity 35,000 expandable to 55,000.

Hornet-Stadium-0065-2-scaled.jpg

Sacramento State Hornets Stadium. Capacity 21,195. Width of a CFL field would be a problem with the running track.

With no pro team as tenants anymore as well as the NFL & MLB gone for good, the City of Oakland would be anxious to have the Oakland Colliseum being used again. Capacity of 53,200 for football as Mount Davis, named for Mark Davis the owner of the Raiders, the gigantic Upper Deck that was foolishly built for the team is permanently closed.
