WR Market is off to a Bonkers start.

25 year old Philpot who has played one full season (his rookie year) and had only one 100 yard game in the regular season (tho what a game) is the highest paid Canadian receiver.

31 year old Hatcher with an Achilles tear on his Injury record is the highest paid non-QB and his deal is almost entirely guaranteed

Where did you see terms for Hatcher?

I don't worry much about D for Canadians.  It's pretty easy to find guys that can fill roles to have 2-3 on the field.  But holy **** is our offense depleted in general and especially for Canadians.

The drop from Demski to the next Cdn receiver on the roster is miles

The B.C. Lions have signed star wide receiver Keon Hatcher Sr. to a contract extension through the 2027 season, the CFL club announced Wednesday.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but a person with knowledge of the contract said it exceeded $645,000, with $630,000 guaranteed. Hatcher was slated to become a free agent in February.

Does anyone know how the extra 400k this year factors into this? It appears some teams such as the Bombers utilized it to increase their depth making use of the one game injury to keep additional players on the roster, maybe others held back on more of it to  allow them to sign players such as Hatcher and Philpot both of whom received significant bonuses which could be put towards this years sms..(which was smart btw) Originally there was talk of the cflpa trying to make sure the 400k was evenly distributed but lits just as likely as it goes to elite players

So $315,000 for Hatcher,  Rourke is what $600,000 + and Betts makes big $ too. BC is going to run out of money.

Elks spent like drunken sailors on defense last season and it didn't work out great for them.

Lions taking a similar approach on offense

Dang $275 for Philpot and $315 for Hatcher.....the top tier receiver market is getting crazy...

What the heck are the Riders going to do with all there FA receivers and some very good CDN receivers when put side by side Philpot......I can't see Emilus accepting less than Philpot, KeeSean Johnson has to be paid high as I think many other teams would be high on him and Meyers if he stays in the CFL again should command a high dollar....not even accounting for Bane jr and Robustelli, or fellow CDN's KSB, Tommy Neild and Mitch Picton.

I wonder if they are front loading parts of the contract with excess space this year. Or maybe they just intend to go over the cap again as much as they feel like.

They've gone over the cap the last 2 seasons (and by more than any other team) so why stop now?   They pay guys like Rourke & Betts a good chunk of their salary as marketing money and yet they still go over the cap - Doman does not seem to have an issue with that but it hasn't really paid off for them yet.

A 250k+ contract to a running back, ANY running back, is going to hinder any team unless they put up MOP calibre numbers and clutch performance. We got hosed on his contract last year.

We got hosed or did Hogan hose Oliveira? How many games was Brady Oliveira underused & even forgotten? He's still the best running back in the CFL. If we lose him then it just tells me that nothing has changed with the club.

With the Phiolpott & Hatcher signings, could that be a hint that teams have been told the salary cap is going up substantially again? No excuses this year for the Bombers if it does.

When playing from behind BO loses touches. However, in the games where we got behind early part of it was because he didn't run well. Is he the best back in the CFL? Could be, but not by much and he's paid as if he is almost twice as good as everyone else. He isn't and that's the problem. This isn't about BO's ability, it's about whether he is worth his astronomical salary.

not on this team with this HC...nope....have to disagree with that...and not just with Eli situation

Not sure what you have seen in Eli to have such faith in him. He has been a matador whenever inserted into the starting group.

At guard... he's never got much chance at centre where our actual centee being a matador would be an improvement. Kolankowski spends most of the game wandering around like he's lost.

anytime your center gets spun around and more times than not is facing yhour QB....With guys in front of him...or going bu him...not a good sign....same with a dt getting spun to the side and again...more times than not his back to the QB and guys just sashaying by....not a good sign....both those are indicators of minimal talent if any...and weak players....and basically describes our two positions perfectly

And makes sense as Kolo is an undersized unathletic center with short stubby arms, and JT is a uber unathletic guy, no technical skills/hand skills and weight he carries...grossly overweight has no benefit to him and his play...it's more a detriment to him

With Lawson..Adams...Woods...Even Schmeck you saw no evidence of that...Same with Eli...and I disagree...he was hardly a matador, but that being said...he is a center and has nary had a chance to play....but hen he did he was just fine...and with more reps would settle right in...Is very athletic...not undersized...and actually has technique

With the O-line he had, he was fortunate to get back to the line of scrimmage.

And/or at times OC not being disciplined, patient enough to stick with the run and be a bit more creative with it?
