Looking at the BB free agent list...I'm not sure there's anyone left we really NEED to sign. Is there anyone who you think we should sign? Successful offseason thus far. Time to start looking at other teams' free agents IMO. I'm still thinking Brissett from Toronto would be a great add.

Willie?

Wheatfall?

Wilson?

agreed... I still think Willie and Big Stan will be back... please give me one big addition to the OL and DL in FA... but otherwise we've signed the guys that needed to be signed and released the guys that need to be released... so far, so good.

We also have to sign a FA receiver to push the ball downfield.

Yeah which I don't think we have in house. Unless you think Wheatfall has any more to give. Who do you like from the league free agent list?

All 3 are a meh. Willie in a rotational role but I don't think he'd play for that kind of money.

Throw good money at Hardy, he would be by #1.   Tim White #2.

On a lesser contract:

Rambo, Brissett, Rhymes

On a 1 year prove it contract:

Addison , Bane Jr, Henry, Dunbar

Schoen will be 30 in October.....2 acl's ...I'd be very tentative about re-upping the guy .....He was a warrior for us BUT the injuries he suffered will most likely have affected his game.....Will he totally recover and be the same player....Big question mark and there's a few good receivers available in fa....I think it's time to move on

Depends on the price. IF he is healthy, and IF he takes a low base salary incentive laden contract then I would roll the dice on Schoen. I would not give him a premium receiver contract this go round tho.

I don't see how schoen plays next year. He's a following year option if he is an option at all.

More than likely he is out this whole year....or at least he should be. Players do stupid things with their long term health, let's hope Dalton isn't one of them.

Vaval has good representation and a in tune Agent who agreed with him to make the smart decision for this yr and just commit....and add to his tape...More guys need to find that type of governance in their career...Hello Elgersma

Yea...if the best offer you get is a futures deal it isn't worth it 99% of the time. Futures guys rarely make the PR. QB might be a bit higher than other positions but still rare.

some futures guys dont even make it past the first mini camp or OTA's...A young guy like him....put up more numbers again this yr....he will get another look if teams see something

Yea instead of doing it the other way i.e., get some workouts, sit on some practice rosters if you're lucky then come to the CFL after getting cut off said practice rosters. Although the coin they make on practice rosters for a few years can be more than they'll ever make in their entire career in the CFL (Paging CFL Commish, over?)

Schoen is damaged goods. Why even weaste a penny on him? there are better free agents out there younger & have twwo healthy knees. And even if he signs elsewhere & has a great season, his body is a ticking time bomb for something to go off. Walters needs to spend money wisely & not foolishly. Move the eff on, already.

but...U need to actually be on for the week leading up to a game....running around...random workouts.....gets you exactly 0.00 in your pocket....and teams for most part fly you in at their dime, but if you are there for 48 hours while they hum and haw...or run you through a couple looks...well then you are on your own after that for lodging and airfare back home....so there is that too

Like Elgersma this yr...made a grand total of 0.00.....and if he just runs around looking for workouts again next yr...will earn again noting other than some per diem rate in a TC if he even gets an invite.

So if he lasts the 6 weeks he will get 1850 a week in pay before tax (11 100 bucks), and if nothing pans out...again...then he gets another 0.00 wasting away

If he woulda sucked it up and came up here and showed something....and earned his max rookie amount 85k...and took a shot in spring of 2026....where would he be better off $$ wise and actual development/exposure to the pros's??...Pretty easy answer

Sure the allure of the PR money is there at 8400 usd per week....but you need to be on one....so say he lasts half a year...with exchange he makes about his cdn rookie salary...so is it worth it really with taxes and everything when it's a stretch a Canadian Trained QB would even get a legit shot?....nope...he has poor guidance

What does the UFL pay qbs? I think it's less than the CFL. probably does. Problem is, Elgersma's a rookie so he'll get $85000 Canadian to play up here which is much, much too low to get quality rookies to even consider coming to the CFL.

yeah UFL doesnt pay much, and that rookie deal here needs to be tweaked....should be a range with max of whatever they deam practical, could also have a caveat that QB's are also on their own scale, so you could actually get a fringe guy from the NFL to come up here if they could get 150k a yr....would make a big difference as to who would come

I just googled UFL salaries & qbs & they'll make $64000 US this season. Comparable to $85000 Canadian in the CFL for rookies. So, Elgersma will probably have to make a choice. Stay there & play in the UFL while probably never see the field behind NFL & 3 year UFL veteran Matt Corrall in Birmingham. Or come up here & never see the field behind Zach.

Or spend a season backing him up learning the game then take the reins?
