There already is a Continental Football League. It was around in the 60's. Don Jonas was the league MVP with Orlando in 1968. And he ewas a two time Champ. League folded. Now, it's been revived as a developmental league with new teams. Mike Kelly is the Commissioner starting play in 2026 so name is taken. 

If memory serves, the copyright has to renewed every 20 years or so or it becomes public domain again.

Fun fact: in the 4th Q at some point they switch from NFL rules to CFL rules.

Soooo if someone has only murdered one person and another person has been arrested twice for shoplifting...  does that mean the shoplifter is a  more damaged individual?   

Also for guys like Mitchell.... one incident that we are aware of and who knows how many times he's done stupid **** without being caught.      Usually trouble follows people who cause it.   This isn't a red light camera or an oopsie of not stopping at a stop sign and getting caught.     The guy is a bum / was a bum and sucked as a player so  moving forward the club shouldn't be employing questionable character guys unless they are at such a level that you can tolerate the prima donna behaviour because they can be elite on the field (see: Kenny Lawler).

Three strikes in the US law. I don't believe that  law has been repealed so in the eyes of the law on the third strike you get life so in effect a chronic shoplifter is in the same league per se as a murderer.

You're a mod here & I'm not. Yet even I know the hatred by some for anything not Blue Bombers (won't say names) runs real deep. The Lawler example of his DUI & the willingness to forgive pops right up. If it was a Rider, Argo or Alouette, the reaction would have been different.

That would depend on your definition of justice. I have had some experience with the American penal/justice system and can tell you that there is very little attempt at rehabilitation- only incarceration in an often brutal system. Their recidivism rate is the highest of any western industiralized country despite having the longest incarceration rates. Most American jails are privately owned and run and rehab programs are detriments to the bottom line- profits. The longer someone is in jail, the greater the likelihood they will re-offend.

Maybe, maybe not. There are cases of inmates in the US having success when they got out. Most reoffend, though. Most are career criminals who can't hold down regular jobs or integrate with others. They just know one kind of life. It's the same here. Jails are govr t responsibilities & i believe that the numbetrs of inmates who reoffend after time spent in Headingley or Stoney Mtn is probably similar.

The success rates in the US penal system are very low. The longer people are incarcerated, the more their sense of social connection, like skills and integration detreiorate and more "normal" becomes warped. In Sweden, Norway and Holland, they are closing jails as a result of emphasizing rehabilitiation rather than punishment. It takes a shift in the justice system but it pays off in financial as well as societal ways.

We're still waiting for Osh to name his OC & coaching staff for next season. As well as free agency. Not much else going om.
