Collaros status

My guess is that ZC may be out for awhile. Just a hunch but he may be dealing with a recurring injury from August 2023, after which his efficiency as a QB began to decline.

Right now, six games or 1/3 into 2025 season, ZC has the worst QB efficiency rating among all the 9 regular starting QBs. Collaros also has the highest INT percentage with 8 INTs vs 7 TDs. Colloros's QB efficiency rating isn't just the worst among starters, at 89.1  it is significantly worse than the others. You could argue Zach has the weakest receiver unit in the league which would contribute to this inefficiency. But looking back at 2024 with a better crop of receivers, Collaros threw 19 INT vs 21 TDs - this includes 4 INTS in the GREY CUP and 4 TDs in West Final - which gave Zach the worst INT percentage last year among QBs who started 10 games or more. That is a total of 28 INT versus 28 TDs in the past 25 games in which Collaros has appeared. Yes you can lay some of that on the receivers. But still.

This is not to take away from Zach's substantial contribution since he arrived here in 2019 - respect! But the decline in Collaros's performance since around August 11 2023 neck injury vs Elks (when Dru Brown came off the bench to win the game) is clear as day.

The decision is one that teams who contend for a long time have to make.  Collaros has been on borrowed time since 2018.  Dru Brown was insanely productive and with enough reps to know it wasn't a mir

good teams...have the balls and the foresight....forward thinking/looking....we have failed badly at that....no succession plan for any vet that just doesnt have it anymore...or for a guy who chose to move on.....let alone any injury we incur

Can always say it's easy to say now...but a lot of the good coach/G.M's from the past made the moves to the dismay of fans and did quite well in doing so

Regular season success and stats are all fine and dandy if that is what you look at as a successful season, but when rubber meets road and you falling on your face when it matters due to some pretty obvious reasons, then things need to be switched up

Name a yr in the 5 where ZC carried us and we won because of him?....other than the WF last yr which was a combination of a horrid Sask defensive gae plan...and Lawler doing what you pay him the big bucks for....I can't think of any where he grabbed the team by the bootstraps and dragged us to victory

And now we don't have a Lawler to do that, or any real game breaker receivers to bail out ZC

Nor do we have any real difference maker/impact defensive guys who can take over a game with momentum shifting plays, so we in tough right now with this current configuration of the team and thats not even taking into accoubnt what has been a lot of piss poor coaching and preparation of late

Will another dud on Friday, and dropping 4 straight to go to under .500 cause any changes?...sure as hell hope so, and better be

They always say it's tough to win back to back against a team...and should be especially so when at home...well CGY ate our lunch...stole our car and took our chick home....if the Ago's do the same....**** better hit the fan inside the walls of PA stadium

If another loss on Friday, even an ugly loss, doesn't provide the impetus for coaching changes, then we are likely strapped in for the rest of the year with only a dim prospect of making the western  playoffs.

You have to think they would look to player changes before coaching changes.

I suggest that so long as O'Shea is in charge, the player changes will be token changes unless driven by necessity.

Agree with that but with how healthy Brown has been since he left I don't know where we'd be now.

With Brown more money freed up elsewhere, but our oline would have got him killed too.

My thoughts were keep brown and let he and streveler figure out who the man was. Trade collaros for assets (and let's be honest Ottawa was desperate and probably would have loved to get collaros at the time). You save money on qb position and can bolster other areas of the team. Would brown have been injured here? Who knows. Different team different circumstances.

We could have beefed up our O-line with the ZC savings and the likelihood of this happening goes down.

yup....gotta do some player shuffling first...and then see if that has a difference....but also if the change occurs...but poor coaching occurs...unpreparedness...urgency still happens....or the coach refuses to make changes...then I guess the other option needs to be discussed...be interesting to see how things progress over next 4 or so games

yeah....that would have been the ideal thing looking at it now....heck even moving him now somewhere for assets as he definitely shouldn't be looked at as the future next yr because really....it stunts us in getting in place 2027 and beyond QB....

Let Strev...Wilson...the rookie and maybe some guy we can land in a trade battle it out for the yr....cause if ZC has some issue going on that we not being told about...rolling with bhim is a fools game....and if he gets hurt late in yr ...and if we make the playoffs...big if.....I'd rather go into it with Strev having played the whole yr as the starter, than plopped in.....with minimal use...next to no reps with a scheme built for him....He to me is the kind of guy that if he gets you there...could catch lightening in a bottle and utterly will the team to a win.

It honestly doesn’t matter what you suggest. Guaranteed there are zero coaching changes unless it’s the OC cuz we got another guy in house. O’Shea going nowhere this season. Just accept it and move on cuz I’ll guarantee it doesn’t happen.

well Mike you took us to 5 straight cups but hey 4 losses in a row = you’re fired. Nope. Firing O’Shea would do more damage to the casuals than the 40 hardcore fans on here realize. You really don’t speak for the majority at all.  The majority of fans love oshea. You will see player changes before coaching here

What’s keeping lawler matter if the QB can’t throw the ball. Honestly.  Lawler makes no difference cuz Zach can’t throw a ball consistently like Bo can.

This isn't a democracy... majority of fan opinions don't change the teams performance. Know what else hurts fan engagement? Looking like complete ass on field and losing games.

Changing players will happen before changing coaches. I don’t understand why that’s a difficult concept to some of you.

how bout "hey mike u lost 3 straight cups in preventable fashion...have had 2 yrs in pretty obvious decline, and no real answer let alone urgency, and the same stuff continues on this yr.....and you seem to more than not have team unprepared and uninspired, and almost seems like the player's YOU have chosen, are either not responding to you any more....or just not good enough....so we letting ya go"...

There's a scenario too...and not something that's out in outter space.....it's whats happened/happening

I never agree on a mid season firing unless it's something so pathetic you have to, and then it's just interim and usually not a fix....after yr is up tho....he should have zero rope or good will from management left....he's used it up....especially if he goes on record again with his b.s nonsense he wouldnt change anything like last yr...and believed he did all the right things

Walters impressed me as being intelligent and made the transition from coordinator to GM seamlessly and well, so he is not blind or stupid. He must have had a heart-to-heart with O'Shea prior to the start of the season and laid out clear expectations about should and should not happen again. Thus, O'Shea has to know that the same old, same old would not be good enough. Sooooo....if O'Shea either has tacit or overt blessing for business as usual, OR this is a middle-finger salute to Walters.

Changing players sooner would have avoided some of these results. That's all we're saying. Look I know osh ain't getting fired this year, but we can talk about blame here all we want.

Yup..a lot of our current mess...self inflicted and avoidable

Yup, this is the type of thing we've been waiting for.  Not performing to an acceptable level?  Have a seat over on the bench.

Even if the end result doesn't change, it at least shows they are actively trying to get better rather than repeat the same thing over and over.

Just ridiculous that Bridges got 6 games before being yanked. Everyone saw that being a bad move in preseason.

Bridges didn’t impress in the time he had last year either.  Bombers cut more promising talent than him both years.  For a team that’s unearthed or recognized what they had or could get like Dee Alford, Mike Jones, Winston Rose, D.Nichols, Marcus Sayles etc… they also gave some real duds way too much rope… see Roc Carmicheal and Bridges…. I mean Tyquan Glass didn’t last as long as Bridges and did about the same.

We do this most every year at db with one guy.
