Do You Use Chat?

I've noticed over time, the game day chat is used less and less.   There is an expense to renew it every year and it is coming due in January, it isn't super expensive, but if people are no longer interested in using it, I would probably let it lapse.

If there is enough interest, I have no problem renewing, but thought I would check to see the level of interest that is out there.

It really is too bad. Chat was better than the GDT but wbbfan is right, it's dying.

The chat room was fun only so long as there were a dozen or so participants. When it worked, it was a good deal more immediate than the GDT.

That's exactly what makes the chat so much better than the GDT. It's immediate... No needing to refresh anything for replies.

GDT is better than chat if you want to just catch up with the comments during a commercial break.  I found watching the chat screen just to stay current with the conversation actually took away from watching the game.

I was thinking today - a What's App group during games would be the Bomb

Just use discord... Its better.

Ya, know, if you youngsters all just learned morse code, we could have a great game day chat (atmosphric conditions permitting).  Not only that, but you'd learn a skill that looks really good on your resume (in 1965)

I always dreamed of being a radio operator on the Titanic.

Just now, Tracker said:

My grandfather screamed at them that the Titanic was doomed and that there were not enough lifeboats, but no one listened. They did ask him to leave the theatre, though.

Ok, now that is funny!  I shall steal that.

I’ve heard of people refusing to take a shower after watching Jaws. True story.

Looks pretty safe as long as there is no way for water to get in there 🙄

I have used the chat function twice, both times the Bombers ended up losing. As a superstitious statistician, I could not at this point allow for it to become a trend and ceased using it thereafter.

Since the chat room problems of the previous season GD chat has been diying. Not being able to ignore in chat makes it worse. Should just roll gdt and dump chat at this point imo. It's almost dead any ways.

Why did chat die out? Just a few years ago we'd have lots of people participating then suddenly it stopped?? I enjoyed the live banter.

a couple of shitty posters ruined it, basically. It's not a fun place to be anymore.

It's really too bad as it was fun. The thing I liked is that you could have a disagreement with someone but it wouldn't be there for all to see months later. And arguments usually were dealt with fast as the game would continue on & something else would happen. Also there was a feeling of all us wanting the Bombers to win with the group. We as Bomber fans were in this together.

I agree. I'm not gonna get into a whole thing, but as has been mentioned before, this whole place got shittier when Jets Fans Who Aren't Really Bombers Fans discovered the place and kinda took over, and ask all sorts of ridiculous and inane questions, and post things that really don't jive with the original core crew of this place. But.......that's just one grump old man's take.

in 2021, I hope the place gets another chance.

Well to be fair it's really only one of them. And one other person.

Basically 2 people ruined the chat.
