Restrictions on defensive formations:

(1) no more than five players may rush on passing plays; 

(2) any player who aligns on the line of scrimmage either prior to or at the snap is designated as one of the five players regardless of whether he rushes; 

(3) no defensive player may rush from a position more than two yards outside the widest offensive lineman and more than five yards from the line of scrimmage (they’ll call it the “defensive pressure box”); 

(4) a player is deemed eligible to rush if he has both feet inside the box at the snap; (5) no more than four players may rush from the same side of the ball; 

(6) adjacent linebackers may not rush from the same side of the ball; and 

(7) two or more linebackers aligned between the offensive guards may not rush.

So, basically, up to five players can rush the passer and each of those five players must be aligned within two yards of the widest offensive lineman and five yards of the line of scrimmage. This means that there will be no corner blitzes. There will be no delayed blitzes from linebackers and safeties. There will be no double-A gap blitzes.

👁‍🗨 These restrictions are supposed to save QBs..the lifeline of any team, but holy geez, talk about borderline confusion for the refs.

More like McMahon Stadium had the Stamps not signed Bo Levi Mitchell. 

It's as if American football consumers are saying they are fine with high school, college and NFL..we don't actually need this.

We'll see what happens in san Diego as they had 29,000 fans last week. Football fans in SD are pissed with the NFL so this may be an FU aimed at the NFL by the fans there.

Yes, but the San Diego fans have seen real football of the NFL sort, and they are going to sour on this anemic substitute real fast.

You would think Robert Vanech should be paying the league for not having his name associated with this undertaking. At the very least...wait to see what happens with the AAF before pulling out the ‘sue’ card.

With all the crap swirling around this fledgling league, it will be surprising if they finish this season.

I love the idea that someone else thinking the XFL could work made Vince commit over $100 million into it himself.

 

I wonder if this gives Vince pause on the XFL? Or, is his ego so big that he can't foresee similar issues?

Vince will pay his players peanuts compared to the AAF. Their salary structure is completely out of whack.

True. However it's all about profit. McMahon could run a profitable small time football league if he's smarter then the shmucks running the AAF who blew their brains out when they decided on taking on 52 million a year in payroll for players. That's before benefits which will cost them a fortune.

You need to last long enough to see people get interested. Maybe the XFL can last a couple of seasons and grow their numbers? 

If the XFL is smart, they'll pay arena league level salaries and position themselves as the third tier novelty league they should be.

All about TV money.  He wont go into the season without a good contract and revenue.  He wont be blindsided by not being able to afford payroll.  Remember, he was willing to do a second season of the original XFL after losing like $60 million in the first season.  Plus, he's got money to burn.

He doesn't have money to burn. Most of his personal wealth is not liquid, it is tied to the WWE who has capped this little adventure at 100 million.

Vince sold shares for $100 million to invest in his XFL company which is separate from wwe and financed by Vince personally.  

WWE has always paid a dividend and Vince is the largest share holder. He was paid tens of millions per quarter for years and years.  He’s said he could invest half a billion. 

His personal fortune isn’t just wwe stock. He has tons of cash (or at least he was paid a ton of cash, what he did with it after, I don’t know).

So in 2017 alone, Vince made $12 million in dividend payments.  He's received those large payments every year since WWE went public.  Plus, over $3 million in salary as CEO.  The article states he made $2 million in income from non-WWE investments in 2017 as well.  

Dude has plenty of money. :-)
