I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

I think the evangelical religious right exists to support the capitalist right. Hand-in-hand. 

I know that there was a lot of talk about the anti-marijuana campaigns being funded primarily by alcohol and pharma companies. I would like to see the statistics to see how accurate or inaccurate those truly statements are.

Trump is bought and paid for. Officially pushing to arm teachers as a detrrrent to school shootings. Insanity.  More guns is not the answer but the NRA and their puppets are actually going to benefit from these shootings. What a world.

The idea of armed teachers is kowtowing to the bottom feeders.  I can accept that Trump is really stupid.  But my goodness, I'd love to have him explain this.  Military-trained teachers.  Who are training them?  Who's paying for that training?  Are those teachers paid more?  Are they wearing their guns in a holster all day long?  If so, what about the inherent risk of someone taking the gun?  Are they locked in a gun safe?  If so, who has access?  What happens in a lock down scenario?  Do teachers parole the hallways with guns drawn?  Are guns just left in the top drawer of every desk? 

And ofcourse, even if he could answer those questions, explain how teachers firing back when a mass shooter is in a school and a 1000+ kids are running screaming through the halls works?   I guess when the teachers inevitably pick off a bunch of kids with friendly fire, its okay.  They are "heroes".

Considering the idiot president needed notes to remind him to say "I hear you", he sure wasnt listening.

Every day that goes by, that Trump doesn't start a nuclear war, is a win.

To be fair....almost immediately after the shootings, Trump did reach out to the grassroots.    He went around Mar-A-Lago asking members at the resort, about what should be done.

You're right, better to leave children unprotected.  You already trust the school to have your children all day, but not trust a teacher to have th e means to protect them should a nightmare scenario occur?  Imagine if that hero football coach in Florida had a gun?  Good men with guns stop evil men with guns.

 

And no, confiscating guns from law-abiding citizens won't stop shootings.  Evil will find a way, and so should good, which is to confront evil when it appears.  It's already come out that there were complaints and warnings about this Florida shooter and law enforcement did nothing, but yeah, we need more laws so they can not be enforced as well.

Ummm...I went to school for many years.  You're damn right I wouldn't trust many many many teachers with a gun.  Nor would I expect teachers to engage in a friggen shoot out at school.  If there were guns at my kids' school, they would not be going to that school.

What do you even mean by "confiscating guns"?  This is the wild chicken little doomsday NRA narrative that Big Brother is coming for your constitutional rights.  Its idiocy.  Why do you need a military weapon?

Do you really believe that an assault weapon ban would change your life?  Or the lives of 99.9% of Americans?  What do you need a military weapon for?  For killing people.  That's what its for.  For killing people.

Read a book or something.  More guns = more deaths.  Every other country that has gun control has way less mass shootings.  Australia came fro the guns and have no had a repeat since.

And if evil is evil, let me tell you, if a guy walks into my office with a gun, I'll be quite pleased if its a six shot or a hunting rifle over an AR-15 every damn day of the week.

There is absolutely ZERO rational argument in favour of legal military weapons.

No money to pay for education but lots of money to buy guns for the teachers and provide them with a day of training and target practice.

This shooting in Florida and the outrage that has follow kicked up a memory for me after the Las Vegas and a story CNN did, they caught up to and elderly gentlemen in front of some storefront and asked for his feeling about the tragedy and guns in general, at first he was sympathetic to all the dead and injured, but his demeanor changed and on the topic of making certain guns illegal he quickly said that you can't take away his right to have any type of gun and there would be hell to pay if someone came for his guns.
