Do The Lions Eat Us Up Saturday Night?
blueingreenland replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Hmmm. I thought just maybe the Bombers would keep him on injury list for 6 games just to save cap space...but then again having him out there gives us a better chance at a win and winning sells tickets! -
One of the Winnipeg media reported that Lapo was asked to interview for a head coaching job in the off season (I assume that's Montreal). He declined. I know it was only for an interview but Lapo is highly thought of through out the league.

Don't know what to expect with B.C., but they are beatable. If I was B.C. I would do the same thing as Hamilton did...maximum protection, short passes all day. No reason to think we will adjust. I think we have the players on D to compete, but will they be given the ability to do so? B.C. offense likes to go deep, so that might play to our strengths. -
If Hamilton can go from being 0 - 9 last season to being the best team in the East just by making a few changes....well, that just shows how quick you can turn a team around. I think our offense will be fine with Lapo, Streveler and Nicholls but our defense needs a few changes. But the question(s) remain: what changes need to made, and will we have the guts to make them?

Will Streveler Be Our James Franklin?
blueingreenland replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Hate to say it...but judging by how he looks tonight it reminds me of a few years ago when Drew Willy went on a run...and then... Yikes! -
Hope I'm not too late...Andrew Harris

Apparently he had opportunities to leave this off season, but chose the stability of Winnipeg.

Yeah. Still be interesting to see how Franklin does. Not sure he has as good of weapons as he had in Edmonton. -

So this thread can go on for a while now... 😀😀😀😀 -
All the best to you, Ricky Ray, in your recovery. Class guy.

Rider fans & Media (I'm not making this up), have brought up the possibility of getting Darian Durrant back in Rider colours due to the injury to Collaros. Okay, now what would that look like? Chris Jones: " Hello, Kyle. I was wondering if you could let us have the rights to Darian back?" Kyle Walters: (hysterical laughter in background...click). Chris Jones: "Hello My Walters. Uh, I wasn't kidding. We really need him." Kyle Walters: ".Let me think about that...No!" (click) Chris Jones: "Hello Mr. Walters. Sir. I'm desperate here sir. What would it take for us to complete that trade?" Kyle Walters:. "For starters...$75,000." (click).

Will Streveler Be Our James Franklin?

Agree with most comments. This year and next we have a steady #1 in Nichols and possibly a decent threat at #2 in Shreveler in case of injury to Nichols. O'Shea can also throw Shreveler in as a change of pace guy if Nichols is in tough. (see 1984 Grey Cup with Hufnagel). We also have a great short yardage guy (Shreveler) who could then run more plays in a hurry-up offense. Luxuries we haven't seen for a while in these parts. -
About what I expected too. Someone could put the QB rankings up too. I think Shreveler's #7. (I am next to computer illiterate).

Don't know if anyone was listening to the "Sportscage" on 620 radio out of Regina today but I texted Rod Peterson (I was very polite) and asked if he thought the Bombers would still finish in 5th in west and what did he think of Shreveler? I knew my question would get a rise out of him. After mocking out Bomber fans he said "Absolutely Winnipeg will still finish 5th!" So there you have it...the voice of reason!

Seriously guys...who do you think Montreal has even a chance of beating this season? Anyone think they can even win 1 game this season?
-
Weston Dressler - Is he stil relevant?
blueingreenland replied to B-F-F-C's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
IMHO and from what I've heard Dressler is still the smartest, fastest, most competitive receiver we have. We really need him this year. As to what happens next year, well, we'll worry about that next January. -
I'm assuming you meant to say "not like" or just "unlike"...as Adams is a mobile QB. If Adams goes to Montreal I wish him the best...until we play them again.

Agreed. Not a snow-ball's chance in Hell that Mike O'Shea will leave Nichols on the sidelines once he is healthy. -
3 stars plus HH sacre bleu edition!
blueingreenland replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Agreed. It's a little early to say this, but I think this is the first time in a looong time that we have more than one Canadian receiving threat on this team (might have to go back as far as Poplawski and House). -
Don't worry about the Argos. They only have to win a few at the end of the season to make the playoffs... 🙄

I'm cheering for Toronto of course, but this one could be Calgary by a mile.

Will Streveler Be Our James Franklin?
blueingreenland replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
One thing that was mentioned on CJOB postgame that we need to keep in mind...Shreveler has benefited from learning on a very good, talent laden offense here. Put Shreveler in Montreal and what happens? I don't know, but we probably don't see the guy develop. Put him in behind centre in some of our scarry (bad) offenses and offensive lines of the past and what happens? Sadly, he may just be another forgotten name. I've brought this up numerous times, but years ago Tom Clements played in Saskatchewan, was running for his life behind a bad O line, and did diddly squat. My point - The Bomber offense is benefiting from Shreveler, but he is also benefitting from our good offense, good vets, and good co-ordinator. -
Jamie Nye of 650/980 radio predicted that the score would be 40-15... I texted him that he will be very close (he just got a little mixed up with the team's, that's all)... oh, I love it when the Riders lose!!
