  1. You obviously have never referred before...or else if you did, you were perfect. Yes, the refs in the CFL do get it wrong sometimes...at times even ***** stupid calls. But heh, NFL refs make some really bad calls and they are full time. If I'm a player, I'd feel like cussing out a ref sometimes too, but I'd expect a penalty for it.
  2. Really looking forward to seeing Jeffcoat and Jefferson go after QB's. I'd expect big seasons from both of them.
  3. I'm sure they'd have a system where, if you don't sign with a team by such and such a date, you go back in the pool of undrafted/unprotected players
  4. Had a territorial rule in the NHL for the Montreal Canadiens until 1972. There should be an asterisk beside all their Stanley Cups up to that point.
  5. Yeah, like a 50 per cent reduction in pay. Heh, I'm only half kidding. Not sure guaranteed contracts would ever become a thing in the CFL. They could probably tinker with guaranteed contracts for vets and say the cut off point is earlier in the season. But you would still have to make the team, of course. The CFL teams can't afford to pay dead weight salaries of players who aren't contributing (like NHL or NBA can). But I do agree with a lot of what the article says, especially in reference to players who speak out getting cut and getting no compensation.
  6. Who holds the Bomber record in this category? Isn't it Paul Bennet in punt return yardage? The guy was never fancy, he went straight forward, but got the job done. Anyways, my vote would go to Fritz Hanson and Leo Lewis. (My personal favorite was Mack Herron -he played for the Bombers when I first started watching them. Dynamic in CFL and NFL but sadly could never exorcise his demons.).
  7. I'd never count out a Calgary team led by Hufnagel, Dickinson, and BLM. Until someone knocks them down a notch, they're still #1 in my books.
  8. Last place will look good on the Riders.
  9. I'm guessing they can't afford all of them. Paying Bighill top $ will have some consequence. Also, it's likely the Bombers believe Couture is ready to start (if need be).
  10. I, for one, am disappointed in Rod Pedersen leaving. I would often listen to the sports cage out here in Saskatoon. Pedersen was fiercely loyal to the Riders and a true "homer". He wore his emotions on his sleeve. I would text him as a Bomber fan and he'd get riled up. It was always in good fun and he said so too. I appreciated his honesty with alcoholism too. I will miss him. I wish you all the best, Rod!!
  11. The Liberals have killed pipelines. Alberta's lost about 20,000 oil-related jobs. Now...back to football please.
  12. Arash Madani claims this kind of stuff (athletes, team reps having "false" accounts) happens all the time.
  13. Merry Christmas to all!!
  14. There'd be a lot of wealthy Bomber fans then...
  15. IMHO Rod Hill was the best DB the Bombers ever had. He may be the best at that position to ever play in the CFL. I've said this a number of times but...he was so good, that when the Bombers had Less Browne playing on the other corner (Less Browne is the CFL's all time INT leader), QB's rarely threw to Hill's side. I remember the day the Bombers signed Rod Hill...Cal Murphy was in a state of ephoria.
  16. That's your opinion, I'll leave it at that.
  17. If MOS was wise, he would give Streveler even more playing time next year (not counting the games Nichols was hurt). We could then slide Streveler into the starting role in 2020.
  18. Yeah, but if you're Matthews, where would you sign? Calgary to catch passes from one of the most prolific passers in modern day CFL history, or Winnipeg who has Matt Nichols, who throws short passes, hands off to Harris and locks down on Adams? (And by the way, I like Nichols...but just saying).
  19. Regarding bringing Trestman here to coach... ...if you think O Shea is stubborn and sticks with his guy (Matt Nichols)...Trestman is this times 2...
  20. Or put another way... time wounds all heals
  21. And yet not once during the game did I see Lapo run the ball, pass the ball, or make any blocks. I know your point is that Lapo called a bad game...I don't know if he did or didn't. But on a number of plays I could see open receivers which Nichols didn't see. Nichols gets locked in easily, especially when he scrambles...that's just what you get with Nichols.
  22. Westwood and Bauming were saying this a.m. that they expect Wolitarsky to play slotback next season. I could see him having a big year there (a la Gerald Wilcox).
  23. So we make Streveler the starter in 2019. Then what happens when he bolts for the NFL (as Walby and Westwood predict) in 2020? Hmmm. Honestly we will need to move on from Nichols at some point...whether that is now (not likely) or for 2020 or 2021 or 2022 I don't know. It is likely the Bombers will keep Nichols and incorporate Streveler into the offense even more in 2019. IF...and that is a big IF, BLM goes to the NFL next year, the West is wide open. Here's hoping Calgary loses the Grey Cup (3 peat) and then BLM leaves.
  24. Pretty good season guys. Not sure what changes we will make in the off season. I just hope our changes don't result in a big slide next year...i.e. Jeff Reinbold, Mike kelly
