Hate to say it but there was a reason boston sent jumbo joe packing, They knew he just couldn't get the job done when it mattered. That entire San Jose team is like that tho. Marleau goes missing when it matters the most too.

Actually, I kinda agree with iso. 88% retention is amazing given all the problems with transportation, facility, concessions and of course, performance. If they can get anywhere near 90% that will be a miracle.
If the team starts to fly a bit - (doubtful but always possible) they could easily get big walkups in droves.
The idea of getting more money for a walkup ticket is also valid but remember, if you're at 21,000 there's up to 12,500 walkups available for every game (some obviously eaten up by flex paks and pre-buys for events like Banjo and other rider visit)

I seem to recall Miller stating the financial statements wouldn't be out 'til late April, first couple weeks of May (which means mid to late May in sales speak).
The reason he gave, fwiw is he was new to the job. I didn't realize he was an accountant!
Even if the bombers have a moderate loss I don't see why they delay announcing it. Season ticket holders don't give a crap about losses - they know Selinger will spread his cheeks if mo money is required!
I sense the bombers are fighting too many internal battles (ex. the hidden costs of IGF flooding, transit arrangements, appointment of Rabb to board, IGF structural truths ready to emerge, who knows what else)

Given that 3 of the past 4 Chairs (Bulbuck, Watchorn, Dunn) all worked together at Federal Industries in the late 1980's, I would say it qualifies as an old boys club.   Although Ms. Strath was the first director appointed under the public nomination process, the news release referenced her experience in event management and marketing despite these items not being part of the specific criteria established by the Board.   I think she's fully capable but I think she was chosen to assist in Grey Cup Festival preparations more than provide governance.

It worries me that the Bombers had an unexpectedly large $1.2M transit cost last year and that they haven't released 2013 financial results yet.  In 2010 and 2011, results were released early April and last year it was April 23.

IGF is hosting a major event next week with the vast majority of sections only having single tickets available at this point.   Will they have secured a transit discount in time or will they repeat last year's errors already?   I rode park and ride many times last year and would gladly pay for this service.   A P7 seat last year was only $17.80 and they were chipping in $11 for my transportation.   Makes me feel guilty but at least I supported the concessions and Bomber Store.

If there's bad news to report, let's get it out of the way so that we can start focusing on the draft and generate a positive buzz to support season ticket sales.   I sense the rejection of Rabb and the transit news are the tip of the iceberg and that more bad news is coming though.

Looks like the second best rating of the year last night. People do watch. A lot of people watching the attitude era now hate it.
I'm with you as far as some of the idiotic filler like Santino. Though I do like Emma since she can work and is a different look than the other girls.
I also don't mind the midgets. The kids like it. That's what's it's for. And to sell Merch.
I've always been a Kane fan. That guy just managed to take every chickens&@t idea and turns it into chicken salad.

Gotta go with an olineman unless they are officially told their pick is gonna go NFL if Bombers take him. btw - I believe all CIS players should be forced to play 1 + 1 in the CFL before going into the NFL draft.

You can't compare a car loan to a commercial structure that is publicly funded. Sure, the insurance will kick  in & fix the damage. Truth is, the province owns the building. They should have final say who goes in & who doesn't. Not Miller.

If this water damage had happened at the Law Courts Building (it's still called that, isn't it?) wouldn't the news media been in there reporting on the damage? You bet they would have. The LCB was built with 100% taxpayers money. Just like IGF was built with taxpayers money.
The Winnipeg news media  would have reported the story, shown the damage at the LCB, told how repairs will proceed, how long they'll take, describe how court cases will either have to be moved or set aside to a later date & then the media in a few days would have moved on.... It could have been the same way at IGF. A major news story a few days ago & virtually forgotten by now.
Miller in his infinite wisdom decided it wasn't the way to go so now any negative media or reactions by Winnipeggers is on him. Unfortunately, it'll reflect poorly on the Bombers as an organization & it wasn't even the Bombers fault. That's the shame of all this.

Nope, you've got it backwards.  When Taman was around it was a 'Love In' with the media because he fed them info and bent over backwards to help them out in every way he could.  Since Kelly, The Bombers have treated the press with disdain.  The result should be obvious to everyone.  Try to put the media in their place and the articles they write will have a negative slant.  It's the way the media has always worked and the way it will continue to work whether you like it or not.  If they like you, they will show more respect and write more positive articles.

You, and others, gripe about every article Friesen writes.  You don't like the guy so you treat him with disdain and spew negative comments.  It's funny because you're actually upset with him for doing the same thing that you do.  Is it because he has a bigger audience or that he gets paid?

There's no validity to keeping people out until fault has been determined.  That could take months if not years depending on how much it costs to fix.

The story was going to get written last night no matter what.  By not letting reporters in to see the damage, Miller guaranteed that it was going to be aa negative story about the Bombers.  A decent media person would have spun a different story.  Something along the lines of... "We don't know who's fault it is that we have water ingress in our great new building, but we are going to get to the bottom of it and have the culprits pay for fixing it.  In the meantime, come on over and see for yourselves.  Take some pictures, but don't touch anything."  You've then got a better chance of the story being about bad contractors or bad design and the Bombers become the injured party, which BTW, they are.

He looked like he could barely function on Monday night. His hands were shaking & he looked confused at times. Just to go into Warrior mode for the crowd seemed to take all the energy out of him.

The worrisome part with Kane is that his game is not progressing...  The organization wants him to be their number one guy but his poor backchecking and bad penalties make him a second line or even third liner.

This is now year five - he can now be classified as injury-prone and a problem in the locker room as well as a 30-goal scorer.

It 's pretty much proven that Pavs is one of the worst starting goalies in the NHL, if not the worst.  This has been discussed ad nauseum on the Jets forum on the Hfboards.  Pretty sure I have seen the Unknown Poster post there several times.  Garret, one of the more frequent posters on the board,  happens to be excellent with advanced stat analysis and has shown time and time again that Pavs is a below average goaltender.

While Pavs is a great athlete who can make the occasional great save he is

    1) poor at controlling rebounds which lead to subsequent high quality scoring chances
    2) very poor stick handling which put additional pressure on the defense and forwards in their own zone to try and clear the puck
    3) poor positionally in the net leading to the acrobatic saves fooling people into believing he is a good goaltender and also leading to goals which should have been saved if he was covering the angle properly
    4) weak glovehand
    5) frequently plays too deep in his net

The guy is just fundamentally a poor goaltender relying on athleticism to look better than he is.  The one season in Atlanta with the .914 save percentage was a fluke as seen by his three years in Winnipeg in which it appears he has become progressively worse.  The bad defense argument in defense of Pavs doesn't wash as teams with worse defense like the Buffalo Sabres and the Toronto Maple Laffs have goalies with significantly higher save percentages (Miller, Reimer and Bernier).  If the Jets had even average goaltending last year (which would be exceptional for pavs) they would have made the playoffs..

Chevy needs to buyout Pavs and/or bring in competition next year and I'm talking about legit competition, not Montoya or one of the goalies currently with the Ice Caps.  Someone like Halak or Reimer.  There are a few others but I can't think of them right now - will have to take a look at the free agent list.  Won't be able to trade Pavs due to the horrible contract unless we trade him for an equally bad contract.  Cam Ward's $6+ million contract with 2 years remaining is an example.

Maybe Joe Mack will ask him to come to camp for his current CFL team.  Oh, that's right Joe Mack currently doesn't have a CFL team to call his employer!

Remember back in 2012 when the Bombers got off to that horrible start and the calls for Joe Mack to be fired became increasingly louder both in the media and on the other Bomber site.  And remember when some of the members of that site said no way you should fire Joe Mack.  Give him time because if you do fire him some other team is sure to hire him due to his awesome recruitment skills (Bombers have the best depth in the CFL and at QB according to some members back in 2012 - I remember Bluto's signature lol).  Well, here we are nearly one year after his firing and not one CFL team has even spoken to Joe Mack let alone hired him.

The man was brought in to improve our Qb depth and I think it's safe to say he failed miserably at it.  Brink was released and never found a position as a third stringer nevermind a backup with another team and Elliott was only on the BC roster because he paid his way to camp and also because of injuries to BC Qbs higher on the totem pole.  We're left with Goltzy - another Mack protege who only proved he could not get better despite numerous starts and was the worst starter/backup in the league out of all 9 teams!

Elliott won't get another shot unless 5-10 cfl starters/backups go down simultaneously this season.  He is that lowly regarded.

I wish I could agree with anything you said here. His "terrible puck luck" has pretty much everything to do with the fact that he has no ability whatsoever. Horrible shot, stone hands and no offensive instincts to speak of. He's an alright PK'er and decent defensively but I am beyond tired of people assuming that 4th liners are "good defensively" because they are bad offensively. I mean, they have to be good at something, right?

In James Wright's case, I'm not asking for much offense from a 4th line defensive specialist in the mould of old school Manny Malholtra. James Wright is legitimately just a roster spot.

James Wright is useless. I'm sorry. We can find energy guys who compete nightly who also have a single ounce of offensive ability. Wright has none.
