  1. That's kind of what I was thinking too... if he was a great special teams player for 10 years and captioned the group, etc... I would definitely not consider that a bust...
  2. Was this Tom and Larry web show happening before Tom started on the 94.3 morning show?
  3. To say he was a bust doesn't mean he was totally useless... to draft a guy in the first round who looks like he could be a starter... and he ends up being a good special teamer for only two years.... that's a bust... sure, had some nice contributions, but the bar is set higher for first round picks... Not going to bother dwelling on it... but I wonder if that would've changed the team's mind on (one of the) Herdman(s) in the 5th or 6th round knowing we were losing Waggoner...
  4. Yeah that was disappointing... I recall he had some nice potential... just looking into these guys a little bit more, they're both quite young and would probably benefit more from some additional seasoning by playing in games than being on the Bombers PR... maybe one day...
  5. I remember a lot of people being stoked about Ritchott as a potential CFL player one day... I watched some of his tape (again, I'll reiterate, I don't pretend to be an expert on this stuff) and I thought a lot of his Jr success had to do with playing against inferior competition... he's also pretty small... but hey, I've been wrong once of twice in my life... Hopefully one of the receivers ends up being PR worthy...
  6. Wrong Tom... I was talking about the Tom (don't know his last name) from Beau, Tom and Frazier...
  7. We can definitely agree on this part... I still may have gone to university but perhaps gone a different direction... I don't really know, try not to dwell in the past too much... hey wait a minute... what's this about not being liked!!
  8. The only way that is possible (I'm sure it probably isn't in this case) is if Edem ends up being a league all-star and the Riders win the cup ... or something to that effect... in which case, that would make it an even better trade for the Riders...
  9. No need to get so personal... I do have a degree and I have a job making far more than the above salary and benefits you have described... it helps when you don't have any particularly useful specialized skills (for some reason my employer doesn't consider "well-liked MBB poster" an important skill-set )... It should also be noted that I did agree with you that there are plenty of ways to make money without a degree... but you can't minimize the value of a degree just b/c there are ways to make money without it... see perfect example from @The Unknown Poster above...
  10. They gave up basically nothing to get him... seems like a good deal for the Riders... I'm not sure having Brouliette or Edem at safety is really making opposing QBs shake anyways...
  11. I don't think that's true at all... sure, there are plenty of ways to get a great paying job without a degree... but in a lot of corporations, having that 3 or 4 year degree is what gets you in the door... Now master's or doctorate degrees... that's a new conversation...
  12. I can't stop thinking about the caps... literally everything was lined up for them to break through to the third round... they had momentum coming off 2 dominant victories... the raucous home crowd... a fairly decimated Pitt line-up... and a date with Ottawa looming... let's be honest, Ottawa is kind of a cinderella right now... who ever emerged from the Pitt/Wash series would be a huge favourite... Everything lined up for Washington to finally make a cup run... and that third period tells you everything you need to know about that core of players...
  13. Personally, I'd be ok bringing in Ricky Foley under two conditions... he makes the minimum possible salary (I'm assuming a veteran minimum is more than league minimum) and earns his way on the team...
  14. my bad... I thought he was somewhere in the 5'10, 230lbs range... the bowling ball sized player.... that makes more sense then...
  15. Isn't he around 230 lbs?... pretty good weight... is height that big of a factor?
  16. cool video... I was super excited to watch Atlanta move to Winnipeg!
  17. dammit I had a long post all ready to go with multiple quotes... then something glitched and I lost it all ... here's a summary: Caps suck, they need to shake up the core (I promise it was more articulate than that )...
  18. I wonder if they try him as a fullback... or the FB/TE type position a lot of CFL teams employ....
  19. I think this is exactly the way it is... Tristan Okpolungo signs... that's a thread... Dominick Jackson signs.... that's a Bombers off-season transaction...
  20. You know what I find ironic about the people who use snowflake so often... what public figure comes to mind when you talk about someone who is overly-sensitive to every little criticism?... often takes to social media (twitter) to lash out like a little baby...
  21. I have to admit... I got a pretty good chuckle out of this recent exchange between Atomic and Jimmy... thanks for entertaining me on a boring tues afternoon!
  22. I can't imagine it would take much to set off people who post at a place like that... but just out of curiosity, what kind of comments were you making to get those insults?
  23. The place I go to does that too... to be honest, I've always wanted to try it but I find it hard enough to get out once a week, nevermind every day for a month... I know I'm just making excuses but I'm also not sure if my body can handle it or my washing machine (I'd have to go through a whole lot of towels!)
  24. I think a bigger contributor to a guy "returning home" is getting prepared for post-football life... the CFL, unlike other professional leagues, does not set one up financially for retirement life... so if a guy wants to finish a degree or start working in his hometown, it makes perfect sense to want to return home near the end of his career...
  25. Wow, A lot of great stuff on this thread... thanks for everyone for sharing... I wanted to "like" and quote nearly half the posts but it just seemed easier to chime in with my history and experiences... I have battled with weight my entire life.... while I have always been active and never been obese it was always tough growing up as the chubby kid... the most I've ever seen on the scale (I'm fairly sure it's been higher I've just never seen it) is 242 lbs... I am currently 30 years old, around 6'1 (which is the height I've been since I was about 14) and weigh in the high 190s... in the past 10 years I have fluctuated from the aforementioned 242 to as low as 177 (this was when I was working an extremely active job and I pretty much couldn't eat enough to gain weight)... as soon as I went back to a desk job, it probably only took 6 months to get back to around 220... Everyone's plan will be different and I've always maintained that finding what works for each individual is the best solution... as somebody mentioned earlier there is no one right way to maintain a healthy weight... it's all about finding a plan that work for you and your lifestyle and sticking to it (I believe it was voodoo but sorry I can't remember)... A little over a year ago I saw a friend that I hadn't seen in a few months and he was noticeable thinner... he had been around 275 and at this point he was probably around 230 (he's healthily about 175-180 now)... he introduced me to the keto diet... So I started working on my own version of it... basically the plan was not to go full keto but just cut out some garbage carbs like bread and pasta and reduce sugars and fruits... at the time I was uncomfortably around 210 and my wedding was 3 months away... after making a few changes I was able to get down to around 195 by the wedding and I've been floating around that weight for some time now... for me exercise has never been a problem... I love hitting the gym and lifting and playing sports... I used to run a lot too (I ran 5 half-marathons from 2011-2015) but I've slowed down on that the past few years due to knee issues... Final though (sorry for the long winded post)... for those thinking about yoga, I would 100% recommend it... I actually really like hot yoga because even though I generally sweat a disgusting amount (sorry to the people near me at yoga class) I've always enjoyed the "cleansing" feeling of a good sweat... Thanks for reading
