  1. Very happy the marketing dept. is finally providing access to this type of material. Kudos, kudos, kudos and please Sir, may I have some more!
  2. From O'Shea's press conference yesterday he mentioned the reason they went with Brohm over Marve on short-yardage was because Marve was knicked up. Controversy over.
  3. Can't really agree with that. The talent level in Saskatchewan is REALLY low right now. Riders have pretty much the number one offence in the league in most categories, can you explain how the talent level is low? There are 44 active members on game day. Offence is only 12 of them. Your defence is an abomination, and your STs and depth are not far behind. Hence...the talent level is low. I will agree that your starting talent on offence seems to be clicking right now, and I will even go so far as to say your defence has some talent as well but has way too many guys who are not CFL calibre being forced in due to ratio and poor recruitment. Too many scrubs to overcome. However, I earnestly believe that the D talent does not fit the scheme and that your secondary is poorly suited to the changes in the game. The Riders were a very physical secondary over the past few years and were built to be so, it just doesn't fit with the new rules. It's happening in other places too. Players that were once all star calibre secondary players but relied on physicality to do so are now being exposed. Unfortunately for the Riders...that's your entire secondary in a nutshell. Your LBs are some weak sauce, with or without Emry, and your ratio problems are forcing you to play scrubs on the DL that are creating zero push and not collapsing the pocket for Chick and Hall. Chamblin seems to be taking big time heat for this defence, and it does fall on him to find answers, but realistically Taman never put a defensive group of players on the field that is good enough. I will freely admit that your offence is playing lights out right now. It's the only reason the RIders haven't been getting completely blown out thus far. There are some deep systemic problems that are rearing there ugly heads right now, right from the GMs office on down, and the offence has been the lipstick on the pig. This gets worse before it gets better. I know...I watched this movie over and over again through the 2000's. Not to worry though, I am sure O'Day and Lapo will do their best to start a rebuild next year. ....that and a horrendous number of injuries to starters.
  4. From my experience a hooker emporium would have been a much better investment. patron, proprietor, or employee? As always, start at the bottom work your way up!
  5. Leif would always be paired up with Pinky Marsden on CTV for the Eastern games, while Frank Rigney and Dale Isaac did the Western games, with legendary Al McCann on the sidelines, whose biggest fear was getting out of the way of the horse in Calgary who had a penchant for running him over. I still say that while Don Wittman was probably the best play by play guy, I really liked Frank Rigney as a colour guy. What is it with ex-Bomber players going into broadcasting? How could you forget the great Johnny Esaw! He was pretty awful.

  7. Hey don't dis Moosomin. I was exiled in Broadview for two loooong summers and Moosimin was the bright light on the horizon that provided hope. Sadly, it turned out the bright lights were from a 24 hr. gas pump.
  8. a guy behind me at McMahon was talking about this. I hadn't heard the rumour yet, but apparently Lapo's been contacted and told to sit tight....barring a monster comeback by the Riders on the season, Lapo's packing his bags... LaPo's lost his mind if he willingly leaves his job at TSN to step into that hornets nest.
  9. Not my intention at all. I'm just trying to understand what the CFL is trying to accomplish with the new rule changes in the long run. Any theories?
  10. I should clarify. The rift is between the "Socialist Sap-Suckers" and the "Capitalist Sap-Savers" who believe that their sap is somehow being sucked by ungodly requests for freebies.
  11. They have been posted prior to all the other games. I think we could use a game song to start off the game-day thread, something like... Green is not the Colour!
  12. Tough to disagree with that one... even Elimimian can't stop Cornish dead once he gets moving... Tough to disagree with that one... even Elimimian can't stop Cornish dead once he gets moving... Agreed, he's something else. If a team can keep Cornish to around 100, they've down well. That being said I think he is on the downhill of a great football career.
  13. Not sure where you got that I wanted free, or even discount tickets from. More than willing to pay face value... just with all the printable tickets crap I'm nervous about getting them from scalpers. ETA - and would prefer to buy from people I at least somewhat knew. No worries Robyn, the post was not directed towards you in any way. Just trying to antagonize a "rift" for the hellovit.
  14. Except they change something every offseason so we get half a season of adjustments every year. Why can't they just leave well enough alone rather than fixing problems that don't exist? Except they change something every offseason so we get half a season of adjustments every year. Why can't they just leave well enough alone rather than fixing problems that don't exist? I wonder if the CFL has a long-term plan in mind with all of these rule changes to elevate the excitement of the game for a younger crowd. If I can equate it to hockey during the Oilers reign it wasn't unusual for scoring to average over 10 goals per game. Most fans loved it even if purists didn't. Maybe the CFL brain-trust (oxymoron?) is attempting to create the same free-scoring environment were shootouts end up with scores in the vicinity of 52-48.....Doubt it. So all they need to do is find the greatest football player in history who is so much better than every other football player ever to change the game drastically? Well that shouldn't be too hard... Misinterpret much?
  15. Sounds good. If anybody can provide FREE tickets with transport and accommodation (meals non-vegan preferred) in Edmonton I would be very grateful. I'm saving up my money for a new truck and a red hot poker.

  17. Steve Ferrughelli 1974. Played for the Als, he didn't last long but he was a monster to defend against, he would bash for 5 and and fall for 3. Similarity to Cornish is that he was an upright runner as well. You must remember Jim Evenson. He was the same way. What a great fullback he was. I used to love watching Bob Houmard play. Blood & guts football. Nothing fancy. Just hit the hole running north-south punishing tacklers. Steve Ferrughelli 1974. He was bigger than most of the D-linemen trying to tackle him!
  18. For a moment I thought you were talking about Darryl Rogers who was horrible but realized you meant Urban Bowman who was not too bad 11-7. I believe Urban still resides in Sandy Hook.

  20. Riders sign Alex Suber #Roughriders sign veteran defensive back Alex Suber: http://ow.ly/PRf3H @JDunk12 #CFL
  21. I have heard that it's been an adjustment since the are kicking from the middle of the hash marks. Very rare to have field goal not be from one of the hash marks. I think and old fashion straight ahead kicker might be good for converts. Lirim explained that the kick must be lined up between the goalposts and that he is comfortable lining it up with the left post.
  22. Football is full of illegal holding and interference that occurs away from the ball that has been taught to players since they were 6. These entrenched "techniques" have always been illegal but the refs. are now trying to clean up the cheating at the behest of the league. Imo it has to start with the coaching.
  23. I think that's the biggest takeaway for me... Richie Hall was mixing in more man coverage and is clearly adjusting his defensive plan - really like that. Surprisingly, he's our most creative coach right now. Would like to see him send Bass or Randle on blitz a bit more but I think that will come. If we had Wild in the middle, this would be a dominant team. Wild was not the solution to stopping the run, how soon we forget. Wild consistently read plays, had closing speed and could get to the QB... its not his fault Etch didn't think the run game was important. I'm not denying that Wild was a great player but he was out of position playing MLB.
  24. At this moment they're busy planning a league wide boycott of CFL games on a specific weekend to protest the new rules. I anxiously await instructions from my Green Master.
