  1. Truly embarrassing judgement, would love to have the ref. held accountable and explain his reasoning. With all the officials on the field with their walky-talky microphonie things and the big "eye in the sky" you'd think someone would have had the wisdom to yell "throw the flag F-head!" even if it was 20 secs. after the play. Covering ass is important in any profession.
  2. Referring to the play that Demski stepped out in the end-zone, O'Shea said that it should have been a safety and that the league had confirmed this. Unfortunately there is no current mechanism in place to have that play challenged. He also said that in 500 games played no league official could recall a play of that nature happening before.
  3. Hard to say but they have to keep him. Bucknor is the weak link in the secondary imo but his passport keeps him in play. Maybe Adams can play LB better than Randle.
  4. What I have noticed so far this season is a distinct similarity in the Defensive problems that both the Bombers and Sask. are experiencing. Poor pressure from the D-Lines and LB's and breakdowns in coverage in the secondaries are common to both teams. I don't believe that this can be attributed solely to poor personnel as Sask. has an excellent D-Line and yet they have been held to 3 sacks in 2 games. The Bombers D-Line is so-far unproven and has accumulated only 1 sack in two games. Both teams have unproven LB groups and they are both receiving heavy criticism for ineffective tackling and poor positional play. From last years performances I have no problem rating both secondaries in the top half of the league and yet they have looked extremely inept in coverage this year. The common denominator for both teams is of course Richie Hall but I have to wonder if both teams are heavily invested in a similar defensive system that has been badly exposed by the new coverage rules stressing non-contact. I'm unwilling at this point to accept that the defects can be blamed entirely on the player personnel as both D's have plenty of good proven veterans. So, are the Wpg. and Sask. D's virtual clones?
  5. Comparing pass defence in CFL to the NFL is apples to oranges because the receivers are already up to full speed when they cross the line of scrimmage. Anyone know In the evolution of the CFL game when did the shot-gun snap became the norm? If the CFL needs to compensate the advantage the O has been given they could eliminate the use of the shot-gun snap.
  6. From the game on the weekend I don't see Coombs measuring up to Durie in terms of being a direct replacement yet. He seems quite slight and hasn't shown the ability to break tackles the way that Durie could.
  7. Bingo, the last 3 seasons he's been decimated by injury plus he's 34 yrs. old.
  8. Willy should be scheduled for a regular presser sometime this week, the first question asked is going to be about the injury. Whether he answers it or not remains to be seen. I think it could possibly have been a "dental" injury. I don't think many QB's use protective mouth guards because of all the yelling they have to do.
  9. The threat of multi-million dollar lawsuits may be the only thing that convinces that group to change their ways.
  10. You would think that after all the comments and attention that was given to the hit that Willy took, that the refs would be specifically looking for moronic plays like the macho move that Harris put on Harris. Like, right in your face Trevor...BAM 15 harder right there. But no, nobody saw it...lame. I think Macho man was penalized for helmet contact with QB Harris, it was the contact on Whitaker that led to the melee that went un-penalized. Regardless Macho Harris needs to be on the refs. watch list for fines or suspensions for the "in your face" style that he continues to play.
  11. I prefer O'Sheamus. As in please Mike don't O'Sheamus.
  12. It's like diarrhea, too much scoring and not enough resistance for me,
  13. Messam also having a huge game but the Argos might be able to pull off a win they don't deserve.
  14. Glenn is starting to rip it up, playing much better then he did last year..
  15. The Lobendahn play literally occurred in a different era, if the league is serious about protecting players (and they now have to be) they can not let this incident slide by unacknowledged. They either have to take some form of token action against the player involved or at least acknowledge publicly that there should have been a penalty called on the Willy hit. To do nothing sends the wrong message.
  16. You can't be serious. Tedford has only coached one game in the CFL, you've got a mighty short rope for hanging.
  17. My point is you cannot expect that on a regular basis especially with all the penalties being called on passing plays (not necessarily pass interference by the way) which artificially decreases the number of real passing plays in a game. Also, as I stated in my previous quote, you will only see a 50-50 split if the opposing defense and coordinator are incapable or incompetent in stopping the run. This was the case with Saskatchewan last week. So when the Bombers have a 60-40 or 65-35 split in favor of the passing game for the majority of their games this season, don't start crying about them not running enough. A team normally cannot run on first down every time as it's entirely to predictable nor can they run on second and long as it's a low percentage play for a first down. This necessitates a stronger emphasis on the passing game. Add in the fact that we have a QB who is one of the weakest scramblers in the league and you should probably not expect to see more than 20 - 22 runs in a game. It does make a difference if your leading rusher is averaging 7-8 yds. per carry.
  18. Agree but not sure they have his replacement on the roster yet. Wonder which QB's will be available through free agency next year.
  19. If I was Tedford, I would never take off my cap. Bad case of cone head.
  20. Eastern teams are doing Bombers favours this weekend, It's a reversal of the way last year started. No doubt ORB's are competitive.
  21. Agree 100%, it wouldn't have mattered which Bomber QB played as they would have faced the same pressure and the results would have been much the same. The major breakdown for the O was in the play calling, their inability to pick up the blitz and doing nothing to counter it. As Brohm demonstrated last year he has decent arm strength but he is a pure pocket passer and if he can't plant, he can't throw. Marve would have been more entertaining and better equipped to escape the blitz but they still wouldn't have beat the Ti-Cats.
