  1. I don't know about that. I wouldn't ever want to enter into a thousand yard staring contest with him, especially during a game while he was coaching. Or a hangdog staredown...... Deputy Dawg might give Burke a run for his money.
  2. True enough, but successful offences use many players. But it's true, those guys will get the majority of work. Ray is a master at spreading the ball around.
  3. Have you ever seen him take reps there? I know it was suggested by a few people (myself being one) that a move to centre would probably be the best career move/way for the team to use him offseason, but I've never seen him there. If Goossen were to assume a starting guard position, and someone got hurt, would it not be possible to just move Neufeld to the guard spot, and Goose to C? Unless of course, Goossen got hurt. Then we see what Paddy is really made of. Little known fact but Paddy is actually made out of icing sugar. That's why you will never, ever see him play in the rain.
  4. Does the Editor not proof read his columns??? Unbelievable for a sports writer paid to cover football to make such a public gaffe. I look forward to his admittance of ignorance and his apology.
  5. You think they would activate Gordon? I think Veltung might make more sense if Adams can't play this week. I don't know why Veltung would make more sense to some folks, Veltung was hardly a consideration at receiver throughout camp and likely wouldn't even be on the roster if not for the fact Stoudermire AND Carlos Anderson both got hurt - meanwhile, Gordon ran with the 1s and 2s almost all camp. Maybe Veltung is a better game performer than practice performer, that definitely does happen with guys now and then, but Gordon still looked impressive and if he and Willy can get some chemistry, he could be dangerous. I think Veltung has made the most of his chances and has done a pretty good job as a returner and receiver. Maybe he continues to get better given more opportunity . He is definitely what you'd call a skilled player. Speed, quickness, seems to be able to catch the ball. Gordon hasn't really proved much except for how to piss Willy off running the wrong route Agreed, Veltung has earned his chance, best not rock the boat by giving the opportunity to Gordon over him. Hopefully Adams injury is legitimate and they're not just shuffling the deck after 3 games, he's a solid receiver and it's up to Willy to throw the ball in his direction. Poor red-zone production could be a factor in keying on only 2 receivers.
  6. Funny excerpt from the interview. ” At a home game I got the tip of my finger cut off. I’m looking down at my hand thinking, “Son of a gun, blood blister,” and I see a piece of white bone sticking out here (Walby motions to the third knuckle of his left index finger). And every time my heart pumps, the blood’s shooting out. I head to the sideline and you gotta love (former Bomber head coach) Cal (Murphy), he didn’t like anyone leaving games. He looks at me and says, “Oh, I guess you can’t play now.” And I go, “Well, uh, I don’t think so. I got a bone sticking out of my hand.” Cal goes, “Well, take your shoulder pads off and go wait outside,” and I think, “Oh, good, there’s probably an ambulance coming.” No word of a lie, they called a cab. A damn taxi. The driver comes out and says, “You’re not going in my cab like that. You’re bleeding all over the place.” So the cab driver runs into the stadium and the next thing I know I’m sitting on a stack of newspapers on my way to the hospital. A surgeon comes to see me says, “We’re going to chop it off at the knuckle and you’ll be back in a week.” And for once in my life I stood up for myself. I said, “No. You’re not cutting that knuckle off.” I had just a little bit of cuticle left. They ended up calling a surgeon out of a theatre to fix my finger. And that took me two weeks. That’s how long I got off for that one: two weeks. They put a cast on my hand and I played.
  7. The best thing I like about Calgary is their Jumbotron.
  8. Lyle is the epitome of a troll, just by paying him attention you guys are giving him a big old hard-on. He may not post on this site any longer but I can guarantee that he takes most of his talking pts. from it.
  9. Don't think Harrison or Federkeil are coming back anytime soon. Great opportunity for the Bombers to exploit Cgy's weakened OL on Saturday, hopefully Richie Hall has his nose pressed up against the screen.
  10. I suspect Cornish is now on the down-slope of a great career. Looks like this going to be a very entertaining game.
  11. Put a chip in the ball, grid wire the field and they can layoff the chain gang and take the ball placement decisions out of the refs. hands.
  12. Is this to mean that you don't like the 4 guys on the DL right now or that you're upset that Walters hasn't replaced the three guys left over from Mack? Same with LBs are you not happy with the guys you have? It's a different defense than what they ran when LaPolice was in charge, more of a 4-2 front with a hybrid of Dime defense with Randle playing as a rover at times. I don't mean to single out just you 17to85 but would like to know what parts of the roster folks don't like here. You'd think it'd be happier around here with the Bombers holding down first place in the West, having a 1-0 record in the division and beat Saskatchewan once already this year. Plus you could still have this roster - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_Winnipeg_Blue_Bombers_season#Roster I don't like it when Peach is the best player on the defensive line and I've said that for a long time. He's a depth guy but if he's your best you are in trouble. So yes I expect a CFL GM should be able to find an end that is better than Peach. Walters hasn't done that yet. The tackles are struggling this year too, if they're not playing well why don't we have someone who can step in and up the play of the line? The linebackers have been lacking as well. We lost Ian Wild in the offseason and he has not been even close to replaced. I'm thrilled that they are 2-1 on the year, absolutely pleased, but when your defense is struggling as much as the Bombers is this year you are playing with fire. I suspect many decent LB's were flushed away during TC because they had already decided prior to camp that Hurl was going to be their MLB. They could have at least stashed one of those guys on the PR.
  13. Anyone that thinks that the Bombers were going to walk all over the Als needs to have their head de-rocked. Be happy they played a clean game turn-over-wise and came out with two. Onward to the next battle ground.
  14. I don't fault Willy for not throwing a pass when he can't even get his eyes upfield before he's being tackled. Rather take the loss of yards than have the ball going back the other way, even if it takes us out of FG range. Yea I dunno if it just takes a bit for Picard to gell with Chungh and Greaves but the interior is getting mauled. I'm impressed that willy hasn't been sacked more already, tbh. Picard getting flagged for holding might become even more common place then before.. Willy has to make a permanent habit of getting the ball away quickly, I believe that's the only way he is going to remain healthy. He needs to sit down and study film on Ricky Ray and Kevin Glenn and transform his QB skills to match the reality of the CFL game.
  15. Encouraging thing in their game against Sask. is BC did not look very good and didn't really deserve the win. If it weren't for Chamblin's coaching gaffes no doubt they would have lost. Terribly undisciplined team penalty wise and their D seemed to be vulnerable to the long passing game. I believe Tedford is going to be under .500 in his first year.
  16. Yah, but I'm totally certain that Unamba would have also recovered the ball in the end-zone and kicked the convert too.
  17. who was criticizing this move? I know I liked it. Maybe criticizing was a bit strong (for people who post here) but there were a number who didn't like signing him. I think a few of the rabble-rousers at TEP were more vocal in their displeasure. Agreed the only former Argos worth picking up so far has been JFG the others have been busts ( Romby B,. EJ etc ) ... Well, I have certainly thought about criticizing the addition of Shell. Does that count? Positives. -Kudos for the blocked punt, that is the first play he has made in 3 games that his name has been mentioned. -I suppose Shell was brought in for his versatility as a backup and his true value should show once they have an injury in the secondary. If O'Shea chooses to use a different player to fill in I will be somewhat confused. Negatives. -Shell may be a decent ST player but UNAMBA WAS TOP NUMBER ONE ST PLAYER OF ALL LAST YEAR TOTAL BEST!!! -Like Sears, Unamba made an impact every game, no matter where they played him, he was "in on it". -Bombers made room for Shell originally on the PR by cutting Malachi Freeman, a good young prospect. -Latest member of the Mike O'Shea "F*** You, I Like Him Club". Notable past and present members include Willy, Kuale, Bryant, Peach and Hurl. No competition required to join this exclusive club, it's an anointment thing. -Worst of all I have 5 pairs of custom fit Don Unamba pyjamas that are growing stale in my weekly garage sale that I can't sell for love nor money.
  18. who was criticizing this move? I know I liked it. I don't recall anyone criticizing it. Edit: wrong thread!
  19. Here is Chamblin post-game, he now has a look of fear in his eyes. http://www.riderville.com/video
  20. He just wrecked that guys knee, lucky it wasn't Harris.
  21. Jackson punishes himself with an obvious helmet to helmet tackle.
