bb1 got a reaction from MrFreakzilla in Game 32: vs Ne nous bousillez plus, réf, or back again Laine?I hate to blow my own horn but i remember when Hutson was drafted and i was begging Chevy to draft him...not saying Lambert won't still work out but i remember Hutson was called special in the draft and if he had not been so small would of been a top 5 draft...easy to say now lol...but damn it's too bad we didn't roll the dice on him...

bb1 reacted to Noeller in 2024/2025 CFL (non-Bomber) Off-Season ThreadZach was not a problem in any way. He lost his best receiver, his next best safety blanket receiver, and the OL was a bit of a dog's breakfast all season long. In spite of those issues, I thought he was really good from about LD on. After that West Final I think most of us felt like "...okay, we're back in business now..." but a total fluke injury in the GC changed people's minds.
I'm actually really excited to see what next year looks like with a new OC and a healthier offensive line up....

bb1 reacted to GCn20 in 2024/2025 CFL (non-Bomber) Off-Season ThreadZach and the receivers were definitely not on the same page in scramble rules at the beginning of the season. He was guessing where they were going to go, and he was guessing wrong more often than not. ZC excels on extending the play but when that happens receivers and QBs have got to be thinking on the same wavelength. Takes a while for that to happen. ZC and KW, KC, and OW just weren't on the same page quite often until around game 7-8. Yea...Wilson and KW ran some great routes and made some big plays, but they were not a result of extending a play. That was our downfall, and Buck really should have given the marching orders to be more conservative until the chemistry was there.

Jets looked lost at times in the third, seemed like little structure. Lost a lot of stick and board battles. Helle played on top of his game. Had PL’s number. A win is win. Take it move on.

bb1 reacted to JuranBoldenRules in 2024/2025 Blue Bombers Off-Season ThreadYou don't understand at all. I'm not talking about return average, we're talking about the punt teams.
Every team in the league on average gained between 37-40 net yards of field position on a punt. Whether that punt went 80 yards or 38 yards before it was touched by the other team/bounced out of bounds isn't really relevant.
Net is punt distance - return.
They don't include penalties in the CFL league stats for special teams.
You know what net income is? Same concept.

bb1 reacted to Sard in 2024/2025 Blue Bombers Off-Season ThreadI've seen a number of people comment about how letting Janarion Grant go was a huge mistake. It's easy to say that in hindsight now, but with the injuries he had suffered and basically being out for half of the season last year (and possibly the year before as well), the team made the decision that it was time to move on from him, just like they did with Jackson Jeffcoat. At the time that the decision was made, it made sense to go that way, so griping about it now is just sour grapes. The fact that they weren't able to find a decent replacement is a totally different issue.

bb1 reacted to Noeller in 2024/2025 Blue Bombers Off-Season ThreadSome great quotes in Friesens latest piece from Jefferson and Bryant who both want to say. Virtually everyone says that winning the cup at home has always been the goal and they want to be here for it. Said it's a huge incentive.

bb1 reacted to Fatty Liver in 2024/2025 CFL (non-Bomber) Off-Season ThreadZach has remained remarkably healthy in his 5 seasons in Wpg, never missing more than the occasional game and ensuring they've made it to the GC every season. Can't think of another QB that hasn't missed substantial playing time over the same time period.

bb1 reacted to Mark H. in 2024/2025 CFL (non-Bomber) Off-Season ThreadIn the GC itself, yes. But I don't think they achieve 4 consecutive west division championships - without ZC under centre.

bb1 reacted to GCn20 in 2024/2025 CFL (non-Bomber) Off-Season ThreadYea...could happen. With the plethora of good backups on the market this year, I would hope KW is going to grab us one of them. Football championships are always a collective effort. No doubt about that. However, some QBs tend to be able to lead their teams to more of them than others even if the stats don't necessarily show it. Sometimes its the timeliness of a play, for instance, or just a few minutes of greatness that make the difference between a VA and a ZC.
Love him or hate him, I would take Fajardo as our back up for that reason. He sucks as a QB, but occasionally he gets hot and as Grey Cup 23 taught us he can sometimes get hot at exactly the right time. As a starter I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole, but coming in off the bench he's a guy that might just win you the game if your starter goes down. All you ask from a backup.
