Ricky Ray is the most accurate passer I think I've ever seen. Just dropped it in a bucket for his guys all the time.

100%. That is my favorite play to see from a DL. That means not only does the guy have the athleticism to do that, but the relentless motor to succeed in general. Tom canada was a high motor guy too.
Our better finds among imp DTs have been those types. Bryant, stove, sayles etc. Especially the good 3 tech types.
And slants. Oh man did he used to carve us up baaad throwing 10-15 yard slants at the seams.

My foot & ankle are totally screwed. I need a cane for balance to walk. My bones are fused & my foot won't work like it's supposed to work. Without a cane, I walk like I'm drunk & could fall any time without warning. It's particularily scary getting in & out of a bathtub. I can't run or jump anymore. When I think of someone like Jeremiah Massoli & what he went through with his foot & ankle injury, same with Ville Heinola, it brings back some baaaad memories.
That is closer to the truth than you'll ever know.
Thanks. Appreciate it.

My take:
If you're eliminating most of the downfield stuff, especially explosion plays, and you're getting turnovers because your scheme puts athletes in good position...
Then the odd screen or check down for a first down...is probably a play you can afford to give up.

Also, go give lapo some likes and subs on YT! He needs support for all this work he’s putting in!

The part about switching off spies is good, even though it didn’t work in our favour on that play.
A couple of the big keys to making it work include the deep guys keeping every thing in front of them, the wall and flat guys making good decisions and every one rallying to the ball. Also the one guy who gets left playing man up on the corner is often bond who has been exceptional at it.
The deep guys have done a much better job keeping it all in front of them, especially ba. He catches a lot of flak, deservedly so, for his awful tackling last year and this, but he’s got it back in terms of coverage. Nichols is great at any thing we ask him to do. Holm struggled early but has improved a lot at decision making. Last year he used his athleticism to get back into plays and cover up mistakes. If he can start using it to make plays with in the system he could become elite.
Jones and Ayer’s have much to learn, but are using their tools to make plays in the middle that we haven’t seen in a good while. If they can be more sound in the run game vs blocking we are gonna be scary.

Lapo shows JY's match coverage in action against the Elks... trading pass rushers for spies and blanket downfield coverage.
Our DBs basically have a power play in this scheme.

For whatever reason BC just couldn't cope with this ... both Rourke and VAJ kept trying to hit those intermediate routes against us despite the fact we had that part of the field locked down with men high and low. Would really expect them to have more of an ability to adjust. Was not impressed with their offensive coaching in our home-at-home.

Lapo looks at Pokey's big game
First, is it Pookey like Mookie Wilson? Or is it Pokey like Pokey Reddick?
First play, the run blitz kill. I was curious about this play because it looks like a bad play -- throwing a hitch screen without enough lead blocking. but now I understand why it happened.
It's interesting when Lapo breaks down Zach's reads on any play because it seems like the play design and stampeder coverage resulted in Pokey being the best option on most of these plays, it wasn't that Zach set out to feed Wilson, it was just the way things developed.
Love seeing Lucky Whitehead and the rest of the bench calling for tempo on the final catch.

This week Lapo breaks down the Montreal offensive smackdown against Ottawa.
That all-24 view is so dope, it shows so much more than the regular broadcast.
@4:00 it's funny how ineffective the Redblacks undisguised blitz is.
@7:15 the tight end allows the slot receiver to attack the cornerback with a waggle. I've been watching CFL for decades and I had no idea. So obvious.
@9:23 every time I see a stack formation from now on I'm gonna watch to see if the db banjos it right.

The team must have read all the well reasoned arguments for this on the board last week.
Would be nice if Cole is good to go for Wilson too.

I had ankle surgery in 2015 & developed a bone infection 3 weeks after going under the knife. An operation that was supposed to take 4 months to completely heal kept me off work for 16 months & bedridden for 12. Absolutely no weight bearing was allowed. My home became a prison. The infection flared up 4 times over those 16 months & I was hospitalized for a week each time as they drained the swelling & gave me these powerful intravenous antibiotics to kill the bacteria. It got to the point where they were considering amputating my leg below the knee. Luckily, that never happened. However, if I was a pro hockey player like Heinola, my career would have been over.

Just read his Wiki.. he was already signed by the Riders but was released before playing a game for them last year so maybe they'll bring him back.
He went to the indoor league after the Riders released him but got suspended after going into the crowd to confront a fan. Chris Jones said that's my kind of guy and signed him to the L's.

The real need is to upgrade the dt position, as currently we dont have a great alternative. How good would it have been to sign Oakman? My main point is with current roster Younger is playing who he feels is best
I do agree we aren't nearly aggressive enough to replace vets that are downtrending
