On 1290 radio this afternoon, it was stated that Etchverry was a mentor to O'Shea and O'Shea said that he tried to get Etcheverry to change certain things about the defence but Etchverry was resistant to changes unless ordered to make them, and that was the point of separation between them. As far as a replacement, Claybrooks and others may be promising but it seems to me that an experienced DC like Richie Hall or Mike Benevides would be better choices- particularly Hall if he becomes available.

Stand Pat & Tweak or ... Make Real Changes
Tracker replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The information has been provided for Bomber fans….how you choose to assess it is up to you. At least bearpants got it right. The "Ho hum" was in response to the pronouncements about drafting good NI's and beating the bushes for good Import players- pretty cliche. The blog does reinforce my sense of O'Shea's character and I still think he's the best man for the job, providing he learns as he goes. -
Its never a pleasant thing to wish for and have someone fired but this was necessary- like pulling a rotten tooth. I do feel for Etch- this was both obviously coming and it couldn't have been fun for Etch to wait by the phone knowing what it would bring. But its done and time to move on.

Ho hum. -
Another merit badge for Walters. We need all the good starting NIs we can get.

He'll be back. Not much of a market for skinny white guys in the NFL, even if they have famous names. He will be appreciated here, like Darren Flutie.

Stand Pat & Tweak or ... Make Real Changes

It seems that the longer we wait, the higher the probablility that the usual suspects in the Bomber coaching ranks will return, and I see that as bad news. Yes, we have a nucleus of decent Canadian players, but the coaching is still suspect and the NIs overall are sub-par. O'Shea's epitaph might read "He stood by his men". (with due respects to Tammy Swinette). -

Hasn't this been beaten to death? We need at least two new starting O-linemen, a solid middle linebacker, an at least two dominating D-linemen, and we need at least two import receivers who scare the opposition d-backs. -
Come now. Don't drag religion into this.

It's right after a " D-noch" and just before a " F-noch".

And the Sisco Kid was on old oater hero along with his sidekick Pancho. But you need a Wayback machine for that reference.

I can't imagine any scenario where Kuale isn't released this afternoon. Fixed that for you.
-
Heck, can't anyone here be resentful and spite-filled about this?
-
Not "the Sisco Kid"?

Oh, fecal matter.

kinda keeps this fussing and cussing over a game in perspective, doesn't it? L'chaim!

Welcome back!

You love me the most...even though I hate you with every fiber of my being. You can't help it. Man love. If you guys want to get a room, I think most here would be willing to chip in for that to help you requite your affections. WOOHOO FREE HOTEL ROOM! Do we get to order room service too? And how about throwing in some spa time? Nope. You can rub each other the right way.

Korey Banks: I hate Winnipeg, I hope they never win anything again
Tracker replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Regardless of how Banks got along with Etcheverry and his methods, dumping on a whole team and city is very poor form. Banks should also consider the possibility that he was simply not good enough. -
Nah. Look how well it worked when they had two head coaches on the field at the same time a few years ago. Are you referring to the time they then fired said two head coaches, and replaced them with an interim head coach, who also happened to be the boss of the GM? I'm referring to when Greg Marshall was "head coach" and the previous head coach (insert name here), who was in some sort of administrative position was prowling the sidelines sympathizing with the players about how bad things were and how poorly they were being treated.

Sisco has been the butt of as many jokes in Sask as Etienne was here. Allways hurt- worse than Corey Watson- can't see how he could be of any use here.

I like the signing. I also don't know what to make of it, big picture-wise. The Oline needs to be better; almost no one would dispute that. But the pieces we have now...when you break it down, what are the moves that make the line better? Some might argue about Neufeld, but from what I've seen his health is the concern, not the level of play when he's healthy. I consider Morley to have had a good season, and we used the second overall pick this year to draft his future replacement. And here we are lauding the Greaves signing. Jace Daniels? Lots of us think he can be our next left tackle. So where does that leave us? We just need one player to make this unit better than the 71(?) sack-surrendering squad it was this season? That doesn't add up to me. I don't have an answer here, it's just something stuck in my head - there has to be more than one of these guys that aren't keepers when you're last in the league in sacks surrendered. I think it's a good signing in the sense that now we have the control of a Canadian asset. I wouldn't be disappointed if a player stole Greaves' job from him though. We shouldn't be concerned if any player loses his job to someone better. The team is not so rich in talent that we do not need to improve.
