  1. As was posited, the game against Hamlton was a fluke due to players fearing for their jobs and playing over their heads. If the landslide continues, will Popp fire or demote himself? It would be only fair.
  2. If he doesn't, he'll be selling cell phone covers at St Vital Centre kiosk on Monday. Brohm is playing for his career at the LDC. Brohm's career is already decided. He would have to almost walk on water to be here much longer, or have every other QB in the fold comatose.
  3. I agree 100% about Tedford. Would have loved to see him here. Tedford has had success in coaching everywhere he has been and sure seems to be a student of the game. Should he be sacked and the rest of the season not improve significantly here, i ould be Ok seeing him here. He reminds me a lot of Trestman, and Higgins.
  4. And Beck is not setting the field on fire but so far he's managing the game well by keeping things simple with few mistakes. A good recipe for the Bombers on Sunday?
  5. If any single thing will doom O'Shea, it might just be his identifying with the players too much. Once you step up out of the ranks, a line is crossed and you have to make s decision where your duties and loyalties lie.
  6. And we have an average QB now in Matt Nichols. I'm pretty excited for the second half of the season now, especially with the D and special teams starting to come around and look strong. I'm concerned it's not enough. We need that lineman that Edmonton got. Damnit! There is a CFL regulation that a team can have only one Simmons on its roster at a time.
  7. Apparently the earlier report was in error.
  8. The problem with keeping O'Shea as a head coach is that he was responsible for hiring lousy assistant coaches and had to be at least partially responsible for thinking that Brohm, and Marve were good enough to step in if Willy went down. How can we trust that his judgement is going to miraculously improve?
  9. Apparently the Riders are flirting with re-hiring Eric Tillman as the next GM. Multiple reports of spontaneous combustion coming in from all over the province.
  10. As much as you seem to think otherwise MOS is going nowhere. Learn to accept that I can't disagree with you on that. When nothing changes, nothing changes. I've finally learned to set the bar for my expectations very low in the past few years.
  11. Is this the end of Marve as a Bomber? I would bet on it. Ineffective, slow learner and brittle.
  12. If BC loses and the Bombers get beaten by the Riders twice in the next two weeks, we could have a baker's hat trick of canned coaches this year- might be some kind of record..
  13. Brohm is done. I bet he craps the bed in Regina - and NIchols comes in and wins the game (or gets us close to a win and then wins in the Banjo Bowl). At that point - Brohm will be gone - and will never be seen in pro football again. Good riddance. OF course, a much more likely scenario is Brohm stinks, Nichols goes in, and gets pulverized by Chick, his bad leg is wrecked again and he's out for the year, and we're back stuck with Brohm. That's a very real possibility. Go wash your mind out with soap.
  14. Marve. Leg injury. Who'da thunk? It might explain why Marve's throws were so errant- hard to throw when you can't plant your feet
  15. I think the fear is being the riders first victory... No one wants to be that team. You nailed it.
  16. Oooh. My nipples are hard.... That is WAYYYY too much information. Sorry to overstimulate you with the visuals.
  17. Tedford has the profile you would expect to see in a good coach- a decent but not great player who had a good career due more to using his head as opposed to being gifted, then moving up through coaching to the pro level. Oh, well, hard to win without a competitive quarterback.
  18. So you're saying we still have a chance.....
  19. Kinda hard to mock the Rider faithful when our team is just a thin bit better.
  20. The only way Brohm is going to be in the NFL is as a paying spectator, but like it or not, there is really no alternative to starting him on Sunday (Sigh), so you had better take nausea suppressants well in advance or large quatities of your favourite alcoholic libation. And maybe put up a shatter-proof shield in front of the TV.
  21. Well, the precedents are being set, so O'Shea is going to start hesitating to answer his phone and may well go completely MIA if the Bombers lose the next two. Better to jump before you are pushed, but its darned rare for coaches and GMs to fall on their swords, no matter how crappy they were. After all, they are always on the verge of an incredible turnaround in the club's fortunes.
  22. No, no you don't. The Bombers wouldn't have the rights to Mulumba or Bilukidi if that were the case. I think this is the 2nd time in the last couple weeks that Kpt Krunch has made this assertion. So I will confirm your post above. CFL TEAMS HOLD THE RIGHTS OF ALL DRAFT PICKS INDEFINITELY THAT DON'T SIGN WITH THEM. He was corrected last time as well. ohhhh I was 'corrected' lol. Good one (use the waiters voice in 'The Shining' for that one). Yes you are correct - as Anthony Mulumba will be patrolling the Blue bomber dline any day now, won't he? Well, I guess he could. I do get a bit mixed up sometime. What I meant was - you draft a player (Muamba) and he plays well, so well he gets an NFL shot after his two year contract runs out (and before it was in his option year he could do that) well, if/when he fails..... unless his option year was still running - U F A . He can go anywhere. So we drafted Henoc first overall, guess what? He's a UFA if he comes back to the CFL - we don't have his rights. This is what I meant. Still a joke. And how is that substantially different from an import player who goes back to the US of A, flunks out and then tries to return to the CFL? You pays yer money and you takes yer chances. If the player has been treated well, he will probably but not certainly return to his former team. No guarantees in this business- even if you hold the rights to a given player who goes to the NFL, by the time he is done there, he could be too beat up or past his prime to be of any value here.
  23. Not that I am any kind of expert, but for a 3-4 system to work, I believe you need a dominant nose tackle who will occupy two blockers on pretty much every play and clog up the middle, leaving only the pass and and end runs. Where is Doug Brown when you need him?
  24. Even a 6th rounder for Nichols is the CFL equivalent value of 2 for 1 meal coupon at McDonalds.
  25. Get a grip on reality. In the first blowout vs TiCats Drew Willy was a whopping 3 of 6 for 48 yards and zero TDs. In the next game vs Esks Willy was a masterful 7-17 for 81 yards. Next blowout vs TiCats Willy was 16-27 for 171 yards with one TD and one INT for a pick 6. As Winnipeg's starter Willy produced a total of 8 TDs in 7 games, before his injury. He had virtually the same QB passer rating as rookie Rakeem Cato, who, at that point, had played one less game. Winnipeg's O production has been mostly putrid, with the occasional big-play exception, regardless of who is in at QB since around the the halfway point of last year. Injured. Injured. Injured. Yeah, Doublezero, you really need to check the facts before you post. He got injured in each of those outings like Goalie said. You act like he threw for 48 yards in 4 quarters. And btw, that 171 yards was 2 quarters before he wrecked his knee. So he was on his way to 300. Do you even watch the games? OK here are the actual numbers: in 17 starts in 2014 Drew Willy threw for an average of 224 yards per game. In seven starts in 2015 Drew Willy threw for an average of 161 yards per game, True the 2015 numbers are skewed by Willy's unfortunate injuries in 3 games he couldn't finish. But before you tell me Willy's numbers are through the roof here's a somewhat telling number for you: in 24 games as the Bombers starting QB Drew Willy has thrown 22 TDs and 19 INTS, that's less than one TD per game and not good enough to win consistently in this league. When Bombers won a few games way back at the start of 2014 it was due to big help from special teams and defence scoring points off turnovers. That's the truth. Our production on O and at the QB position has been pretty paltry, Willy included. Good analysis, but statisitcs do not address the times that Willy was playing hurt and/or scared with an O-line which offered the protection of Kleenex and a receiving corps which was, to put it kindly, sub-par and in a constant state of flux. And then there was a certain offensive coordinator.....
