  1. Davis didn't remind anyone of the second coming of Doug Flutie or Ronnie Lancaster, but he looked like he knew what he was doing, tossed a few good passes and generally made some good decisions. In short, he looked way better than Brohm ever did or Marve. Better than our Edmonton retread. So how come it takes this far into the season before he gets a chance? Had he been eased into the lineup, he certainly would not have been worse than Brohm on Brohm's best day, and that realization means that whoever was making that decision was totally incompetent and needs to be given the bum's rush.
  2. Why did they bother even dressing Brohm last night? They would have been better served to leave him behind to pack and dressed another special teams person.
  3. Walters has to be really stupid to ignore the Guelph offer if it comes to him. He hasn't shone as the Bomber GM, and even if he survives the pending upheavals, he will be living on borrowed time for the next season with no tenure. If Walters bails, that has to make the ice under O'Shea a lot thinner.
  4. The Argos have had to put up with so much crap from Rogers and having to play away from their home field on short notice, and cope without Ray and several other key pieces that i find myself rooting for them to go to the Cup game. Better them than Burris and Co.
  5. The way the Etch, Bellefeuille and special teams coach situations have been handled are good indicators of how the players have likely been handled. The changes took just too damned long to be dealt with, even after it was glaringly obvious that change was necessary. O'Shea was a demon on the field but somehow he appears reluctant to hurt peoples' feelings. If you are a boss, its nice to be your employees' buddy and wet-nurse their owies, but the job has to get done, and it hasn't been getting done. There needs to be a change in the culture of the team, and fresh blood is needed.
  6. Davis looked serviceable, some of our defence stood out well, Hurl was pretty much useless and our kicking game was the usual. For those who want to sack Hall along with others, pause and think where our season would have been without Hall's defence. He was the only coach worth keeping, and he was not great.
  7. Its all so meaningless now....
  8. What the heck, I'm in. Do we sing/keyboard " For Auld Lang Syne" at the end of the game?
  9. Well, at least its not the same old, same old.
  10. Ricky Ray has a lot of incentive to shine in this game. He's probably going to be changing addresses at the end of the year (Montreal, Regina or Vancouver) and is going to want to make himself look good. If the Argos get more than 25 points, the Bombers are going to be in trouble as there looks to be no end to the offensive drought. Maybe Marshall can have a breakout game- that sure would help. Davis has to be feeling a lot of pressure, but on the other hand, he has nothing to lose as he has had no chance to showcase his stuff so far. Lets go out of yet another miserable year with a bang and not a whimper.
  11. In case anyone hasn't figured it out, fan passion is fan passion, and it can lead to exhilaration when the team succeeds, but that same passion means that when the team sucks for preventable reasons, fans are outraged. Fan anger is not what Bomber management has to fear- it is fatalism and apathy. So long as a couple are angry at each other, a therapist has hope to be able to work with them, but when they get to the point where neither doesn't give a damn, its time to start talking about division of assets and visiting rights. If Bomber management doesn't realize that the team is near the apathy tipping point, they are in bigger trouble than they think. Once people are turned off after repeated poor experiences, its hard to get them back together again.
  12. Hajrullahu defintely showed last year that he has the talent, but something went horribly wrong for the young man this year, be it a personal conduct issues or ongoing brain cramps, but he merits an invite to camp but will have to earn anything more than a short leash.
  13. Good for Max. Every healthy, happy person that gets added to the world makes it a better place for all of us.
  14. Willy has to get a mulligan for this year, what with Bellefeuille, a porous O-line, and what can only charitably described as inconsistent running backs and receivers. However, with the type of injury he suffered, there is a real chance that Willy's mobility (which has never been his forte) will be even more diminished, so there had better been some very promising quarterbacks in camp next year.
  15. Thnks Tracker it really looked like with the offseason upgrades that we were on the way. Then reality came crashing down.I gotta hope that the call of Guelph comes through and we start again. If the Lawless report about O'Shea and Bellefeuille being retained and extended is true, it would be the worst news the team and fans have had in decades. Can you provide a link for the MB extension report? I thought it was in Lawless' initial report, but I could have been mistaken. If so, mea culpa- it may have been O'Shea and Walters.
  16. I will say the Riders have a much more pitful defense with very little in talent. You're saying that to try to make us feel better.

  18. bb1, you were not alone in your enthusiasm, which in retrospect was unrealistic. I thought we would be at least an 9 & 9 team with Sask and BC fading, but it was all smoke and mirrors.
  19. Our offense is anemic enough that no one should assume that they are guaranteed a job come June 2016. Even Moore ought to be challenged, and if the scouting staff cannot find anyone like that, they ought to be fired.
  20. Mike was probably one of the best linebackers to play in this league regardless of passport, and ought to be honoured for that- he played like a demon even on some pretty crappy teams. The rest of his resume...well.....
  21. Westerman is our only hope, and ought to win.
  22. A good example of the Peter Principle at work.
  23. Considering all the uncertainty for next year, these moves are all about rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, to use a cliche. I'm going to watch the game anyways, just to see if any of the inserts show promise.
  24. Harold was a party animal. Chicks dug him. Ballard was a pig, but a rich one. Money has always been a sexual attractant.
  25. MOS was a great national player himself and it's starting to become clear that he has a chip on his shoulder when it comes to playing nationals and proving they can do they job. In principle, I would agree with O'Shea that if its close, we ought to start an IN over an import, but there seems to be a huge gap in talent in a few positions such as MLB that have really hurt us and probably disheartened the team to boot. As great a player as O'Shea was, he seems to be unable to adapt according to evidence even when there is ample proof that change is needed. Etch and Bellefeuille are two glaring examples.
