Around The League: 2018 Offseason
Khari is still a good prospect for an OC, should LaPolice decide to bolt. He wasn't the most physically gifted quarterback, but did very well despite a so-so O-line due to intelligence and hard work. Those same qualities should serve him well in a coaching role. I do not hold him responsible for the problems with the offence with the Lions- as has been pointed out, they had a poor O-line but were doing well until Lulay got racked up, and it is starting to look like Jennings may not respond to coaching, and we've had a few of those ourselves.

When do we fire Richie Hall?
How about a two for one special in turfing?

It's the McDonalds phenomenon- still lousy but people keep going back because they used to for so long. Okay, the coffee there is pretty good as are the muffins.

When do we fire Richie Hall?
That is called a "left-handed compliment" like , "For a fat girl, you don't sweat much".

There was talk of starting the season a lot earlier to allow for two bye weeks for the teams with the intent of cutting down on injuries, but I do not know if anything came of it.

When do we fire Richie Hall?
Him, too?

And just in time for training camp.

Too late- that was in October/November. But there is always National Canned Food month or St. Swithin's Day.

When do we fire Richie Hall?
I believe there would have been a valid point to be made by canning Hall as soon as the season was over- that underperforming was going to have consequences. Loyalty has its limits and Dave Richie learned that. If that decision is not solely O'Shea's, then something is wrong.

Ah, the good old days, when there was a steady stream of really good linebackers coming in. What happened?

Fixed that for you.

When do we fire Richie Hall?
If O'Shea hasn't had enough experience with Hall's defence by now to make an informed decision, then I question his judgement. I do not believe that, post-season you cannot fire an underperforming coach until you can find someone else. (ref: Ottawa Redblacks)We do not know of all the nuances about the decision-making process, but I would think that if you went into a restaurant and were served a poor meal, you would not want to know what kind of a day the chef or servers had, or what kind of credentials they had. You would simply send the meal back an/or register a complaint with the management. You don't have to be a chicken to detect a rotten egg.

When do we fire Richie Hall?
I didn't realize that Hall was so highly thought of or the best DC the Bombers could find. The Bombers still haven't won a playoff game under this regime when other clubs have rebuilt and made the playoffs. Moreover, some of the core problems that cost us the playoff wins are still unresolved. This is good enough for you?

CFL All Stars
It does add up, but the answer is apparently not what some would like to hear. Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.

What about something for Festivus?

When do we fire Richie Hall?
I am becoming concerned that the longer resolution is delayed, the higher the likelihood Hall will be retained. That would be a giant FU to the fans.

CFL All Stars
And he has become quite brittle. too.

Around The League: 2018 Offseason
Which is what most here have been saying for a couple of years now. The single biggest personnel/coaching failure here has been the lack of a decent MLB and the inability of the coach(es) to compensate for that. That has to be fixed for the 2018 season or heads will roll.

My first reaction is "no", and at least so far, Thorpe did not show himself to be another Arsenaux, or even Adams. Also, we do not know of the circumstances surrounding his departure but I tend to accept O'Shea's account.

Hard to imagine many doing a worse job than Hall. Hall's biggest recommendation was that he was better than the guy he replaced. Faint praise indeed.

Except that most of the other teams have a much better record in finding really good receivers than Danny Mac and Co, does.
-

And how many "promising" players have we had that just didn't pan out. Thorpe wasn't good enough to displace any of the Rider receivers, although they were a darned good bunch. The sample size was just too small to make a definitive judgement.

When do we fire Richie Hall?
But the second mouse gets the cheese.

When do we fire Richie Hall?
Hall's record has been consistent over his career as a DC, and therefore unlikely to change. What you see is what you are going to get, and is a far more likely reason for the Bomber's defensive woes than all the players he has gone through.

The jury is still out on Thorpe. He looked okay in his limited playing time but was hardly a dominant receiver.
