  1. If you think this will placate those who are unwilling to address their rigid ideation, you are wrong.
  2. In Canada, at least, the politicians are at the mercy of the electorate. The Liberals are moving ahead with their stated agenda, which is supported in this case, by a large majority of Canadians and long overdue. Harper dismantled the gun registry which was utilized some 500 times per day by Canadian police, and that was against popular opinion. but Harper did it anyways. The reality is that right-wing governments are far more likely to institute repressive measures, as shown in the US and the Philippines, as well as many other cases. Anyone remember the High River Flood in Alberta a few years ago? After the town was evacuated, the RCMP went door to door, kicking in doors ostensibly to make sure that any firearms left behind were not stolen. Apparently only a few were found and this act was defended by the then Solicitor-General and an explanation was promised "soon". It still has not come. BTW- many of the homes were left unlocked and the doors still got smashed in. Getting rid of people-killing firearms by order in council is not ideal but quite legal and within precedent.
  3. Frankly, I am disappointed that no one has commented on my post regarding Calgary's first draft pick.
  4. But but but what about all those refugees (AKA immigrants) bringing crime, disease and filth to our pristine land?
  5. To rub salt into a wound: last year at this time, CFL rosters were being finalized, and we were arguing over who would make the opening day roster. I really miss that right now. Things are easing up here in Manitoba, and we have been both fortunate and compliant for the most part with the restrictions, but I suspect that the bit of added freedom we are going to experience starting tomorrow is going to be more of a reminder of what we have lost.
  6. "So true!": Trump claims he "has done more for Blacks than all the other Presidents combined" Trump apparently thinks he’s done more than end slavery per his appeal to black voters https://www.salon.com/2020/05/02/so-true-trump-claims-he-has-done-more-for-blacks-than-all-the-other-presidents-combined_partner/
  7. Biden has categorically denied Ms.Reade's allegation and has authorized a search of records for any reports against him. I do not know what else he can do. It is impossible to prove a negative statement.
  8. President Donald Trump is continuing his battle against public servants who reveal federal government wrongdoing. "President Trump moved on Friday night to replace a top official at the Department of Health and Human Services who angered him with a report last month highlighting supply shortages and testing delays at hospitals during the coronavirus pandemic," The New York Times reported Friday evening.
  9. I have worked with the legal system and have several police in my extended family, both active and retired. People are people worldwide with few exceptions and the comparison is valid. Your slur against aboriginals and refugees betrays you.
  10. Whoever is photoshopping dildos over the guns in photos of reopen protesters is doing God’s work.
  11. Australia is an excellent example of how to change a society with one act. Not only did their mass shootings drop to near-zero, but violent criminal acts involving other weapons dropped by over half as well. Racism has nothing to do with it, one way or another. If you were schooled in criminology, you would learn that there is a direct relationship between the length and frequency of incarceration and recidivism. In Holland, non-violent first-time offenders are not jailed but put into reformative programs and their recidivism is about 15%, whereas the US (which has the highest incarceration rate in the western hemisphere) has a recidivism rate of about 80%. Your argument does not hold.
  12. Do you suppose his jersey will have 00 on it for his number?
  13. Yes, the same one that Trump and Boris Johnson tried to institute: let people die. Johnson smartened up but Trump was/is incapable of such but Hannity convinced him (talk about the blind leading the blind). Sweden has three times the deaths per capita than Norway, Finland or Denmark. That should tell you all you need to know. If you start equating human life with money, where do you stop? Who you you judge too expensive to let live?

  15. Awww.....that's so suite of you to say that.
  16. Lets go one further. If someone sells a firearm illegally and that weapon is used in the commission of a crime, the seller ought to be charged as contributing to the crime.
  17. Trump World Turns on the True COVID Villain: Surgical Masks MASK-LASH They once saw masks as a simple remedy to the virus’ spread. Now it’s an instrument of government suppression. “Literally you can make these with cotton sheets,” Ingraham wrote. “Again, we can be resourceful when necessary!” A month later, Ingraham has done a 180, becoming one of the right-wing media’s most outspoken mask-haters. She’s tweeted that widespread mask wearing would make everyone “like Antifa,” the left-wing antifascist activists reviled on Fox. On Wednesday, she suggested on her show that widespread mask usage is some sort of plot to scare people. “The masks, they’re kind of a constant reminder,” Ingraham said. “You see the mask and you think you’re not safe, you are not back to normal — not even close.” https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-world-turns-on-the-true-covid-villain-surgical-masks?ref=home
  18. You are wrong- most firearms used in crime are weapons legally possessed but have found their way into the wrong hands. Mass shootings have come from firearms legally obtained for the most part. Most killings are impulse driven, and if there is no firearm at hand, the perpetrator will have to look for something else, and the alternative will be less lethal. Would you rather have a killer on the loose with a firearm or a knife? As regards your last statement, I suggest you look at the Australian experience before you say that removing most firearms will change nothing.
  19. Your empathy is palpable. Fauci has been wrong a lot? Compared to Trump and his son in law? The chances of your home being burned down is small, yet you have house insurance, I would bet. The diminished body count is due to whatever measures have been put in place and obeyed, as poor as the response has been in the US. Lets see what the outcome is when the GOP governors relax the restrictions. At last count 30 fundamentalist ministers have died when they refused to curtail services, and God knows now many parishioners.
  20. Most change is born out of crisis, and what happened in New Brunswick would never have happened if people-killer weapons were completely banned.
  21. Houghron had better be immovable in order to make the Bombers, because he looks to have the speed of a glacier and does not overpower too many o-linemen.
