I can't believe this debate is still ongoing.  No team in their right mind is cutting their only experienced backup QB in the middle of the season, regardless of salary.  That's just pure stupidity.  Won't happen.

I LOL at people on here who are paranoid about or salary and use the most ridiculous mathematics to think that if we add one guy it will kill our salary cap and that we will be having to cut all stars left and right.
I wonder what every other team does and how they survive with sometimes 5 qbs on the pay roll and who bring in guys left and right with out having to cut all the guys on the team.

It's a little shocking that people have no clue how Workers Compensation works.  The premiums are paid by employers and employees, not tax money.
It also is not a long-term benefit.  There are very severe limits on the length an individual can receive compensation.  It is not long term disability.  It's designed for people who are unable to work for a few months, not years.  Long term disability and EIA are completely different from Workers Compensation.

WCB is not funded by the government, rather they are funded by the premiums that the employers pay, and legislated by the government.
Therefore the taxpayers would not be on the hook for busted noggins.

I would assume, given the nature of the employment, that the CFL would probably have to pay some pretty high premiums.

When Nicholls took over the season had already started to unravel. We started both Brohm & Marve after Willy got hurt & they were abysmal. Especially Marve vs the Stamps It all went downhill from there. There were a couple of winnable games we should have won, like the Eskimo game that particularly stands out.. So, instead of 2-6 he might've been 4-4 so Nicholls record as a starter might've been much different. Not rewriting history but your version isn't quite right either.

Well, first of all  I never said Nicholls won any games single handedly last year or this. However, we did win with him at qb last season. And he did play better behind that line than Willy did. And Nicholls survived last season because he made quicker decisions. Got rid of the football faster. Based on all that I think Nicholls played better everytime he got in since he got here from the Eskimos. Is Nicholls the long term answer? I have no idea but he gives us a better chance to win when he's playing, IMO. So, he needs to stay in there.

Such is the life of a pro football qb. Maybe it's not fair but he has to still play no matter who is or isn't blocking for him.  Nicholls won 2 games playing behind that same line last year & looked much better in his decision making even then than Willy did before he was injured. He gets rid of the ball faster & makes better decisions. As far as the shell shock defense fans here are using for Willy to explain his poor play as a qb, if anyone should be shell shocked it's Nicholls with the gruesome leg injuries he's suffered.  Nicholls has been able to come back & get over that "fear of further injury" hump better than Willy. He was able to do it immediately. Willy couldn't seem to do the same.

The more D1 prospects we can get coming here the better, Walters said its been a 2 year process to get some of these top guys to come up here and i think we are finally seeing the fruits of his labours.

or get the same sized crowd and watch your revenue dry up.   The Rifles get the gate, but nothing from concessions at IGF.   Stadium rental, security, production costs all come into play.  The scoreboard and replay screens don't run themselves, they need techs and camera operators.
What does a junior hockey ticket cost in Brandon?   Why would football be so cheap?   The Rifles work off of a $300,000 per year budget, most of which is for travel.   Nobody's getting rich off of it.

I think the result against Ottawa should pretty much guarantee that the Bombers won't be taking them lightly.

Football will always come down to the big plays, which more often than not are turnovers. Of course you can't always rely on turnovers but maybe next game Dressler goes deep or ST makes a few big plays. IMO it doesn't matter where your big plays are coming from - you have to have playmakers and disrupters in every phase of the game. I think they call that football...been awhile since we had it consistently

I don't consider Neufeld a valuable commodity as he never plays because he is always injured. I associate him with 2 things. One, him being part of the worst OL in the history of the CFL whenever he started since we got him in 2013.  Two, the muggings & injuries that have turned qb Drew Willy into a scared, human punching bag & may have finished his career as a Blue Bomber starter.
Fine, keep him around for depth this season & hope he never sees the field again & then release him in the off season. He's one player I associate with all the losing the past 3 1/2 seasons & it's why I think going forward not having him on the roster in 2017 will show a big step up in Canadian talent on the Bombers especially on the line. I consider him the biggest disappointment of the Walters regime since he traded for him when he was Interim GM.

You use the fact that the teams we've beaten are sub .500, when Edmonton was 2-2, Hamilton was 3-2 and Toronto was 4-2.

Not to nitpick but 7-11 and you could tell in 2014 we over achieved at 5-1. Nearly every game went down to the wire and we got a few lucky bounces. This season feels different. Our defense is good, our special teams are dominant, and our offense although not spectacular has been good. We've had three straight games where we dictated the temple most of the game, that simply wasn't the case in 2014. I don't think we're favorites to win a grey cup or anything, but we're certainly on our way to being a good football club. I haven't seen football this good since 2011, let's enjoy the ride we have three winnable football games coming up and this will put us into the conversation whether or not we're contenders or not. But I'm a little more hopeful then I was three weeks ago!

I think Randle gets his spot back without any further "earning." I figure Roberts is the first one to get pushed out of the starting lineup , Adams will need to work his way back in.

Maybe I missed an earlier explanation, but why are turnovers being lumped in with bad teams and backup qbs? Would saying, "we only won b/c we scored a lot of touchdowns" make about as much sense?

It's because you really don't look at both sides of the coin. You focus on the negative as much as others only focus on the positive. You are not objective, you are negative that is backed up by your posting history. There are very very few people round these parts who are actually objective, everyone has their own slant one way or the other and there are degrees of it, but you sir are a negative slanted person.

I want a hit layed on him, like the one Wild put on Spencer last game... the helmet-a-flyin' type of hit.

Then watch him try to chest bump MoS...
