  1. Nicholls struggled in Edmonton both this season and last. Moves the ball reasonably well between the 25 or 30 yard lines, but is not all that capable of leading teams on TD drives, at least, not compared to other QBs in the league. He is also prone to more turnovers and fumbles than most QBs. You can find this info. by talking to Esk fans. He's a backup. Nothing wrong with bringing him back next year provided the price is right. $125,000 - $150,000 base salary?
  2. Only watched part of the game as I spent had some work to do and was flipping between the Bomber game, Jays game and Jets game. Only 1 for 3 today. With that said, It sure looks like the offense laid another stinker. Generated nothing in the first half AGAIN. Only 9 points in the first 57 minutes of the game and less than 200 net yards in that same span. Lots of garbage time stats to boost the offense's numbers. What little I saw of Nicholls did not impress me. A few of those short throws were inaccurate (again only what I saw) and I heard the commentator saying Nicholls really struggled with his long throws. Guess it's safe to say he is a backup QB folks. I don't think we have to worry about spending $200,000 base salary to keep him hear like one of the posters laughably suggested after his first or second game. OC still has to assume responsibility for this tire fire of an offense in the end and this game appears to be another mark against Marcel.
  3. Keep him this season and sign him to a 1-year or 2-year contract in the off-season. I doubt there will be many teams bidding on him so the price will be reasonable.
  4. Looks like there is less than 1500 seats left with just under 7 weeks to go to the Grey Cup. I have only see a few patches of blue - usually two or three seats - reappear as available over the past few weeks. Those are scattered throughout the stadium - some in the upper deck and some in the lower deck.
  5. I wonder if Willy will be back starting for the Bombers this week..or next week?
  6. Schizophrenic fanbase? Some posters here need to get out of the Bomber bubble and visit a few other fan sites. Every other CFL fanbase, at least their forums, have members who are as reactionary as any forum members on the Bomber site.
  7. Pleasantly surprised by that comeback in the second half. Props to the defense and special teams. Sergio was clutch and good turn out to be one of the CFL's feel good stories. Offense as usual sucked the life out of the team. Again less than 300 yards total offense. Marcel can't be brought back under any circumstances next year. Somewhat disappointed in Nicholls play although the playcalling wasn't the greatest. He missed a few makeable throws. Guess that's why in an ideal situation he is a backup QB. Noeller, I only consider the season saved if the Bombers make the playoffs. That will probably require 2 more victories.
  8. The league is looking at expanding instant replay. Super, now we can enjoy 3.5 hour games with inconsistent and puzzling calls even with the benefit of instant replay. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl-considering-greater-use-of-video-replay-1.373835 The league is also looking at more rule changes including this humdinger sent in by a fan A more radical concept the league is looking at is changing the parameters of play inside the red zone. The concept would force teams to go for a first down or more on third down inside the 20-yard line. For example, Team A is faced with a third down and two yards to go on the opposition’s 17-yard line. Under the proposed change, the option to kick on third down would be removed. Team A would have to attempt to get a first down or more. If a first down was not made, the team would then be given a chance to kick from a “difficult distance,” such as the 40-yard line. The proposal was submitted by a fan and the league is giving it a look, although it doesn’t appear to have much support at this stage. That sounds more gimmicky than anything from the arena league or the XFL.
  9. The hold back lots of tickets until the current block is sold. Guarantee there's more than 2,000 left. Much more. Could very well be but there are less blue tickets (available seats) on ticketmaster then a week ago. I doubt they would deliberately hold back more and more tickets week after week. Some of those tickets have been sold in the past 5 or so days. We will see blocks of tickets become available in the coming weeks not doubt, but I'm not sure it will be to the extent you believe.
  10. Looks like more tickets have been sold on ticketmaster. Whether many of those have been significantly discounted is anyone's guess although that could be one the reasons for Wade Miller's proclamation of expected profits in the range of $3 - $5 million. $2 million is a significant disparity and might be attributed to the possible discounting on a large number of tickets. Regardless, it appears there are only around 2,000 tickets available for the Grey Cup so progress appears to have been made.
  11. If the Bombers win this week in Vancouver and follow that up with one victory in their back-to-back games against Ottawa I will have a reason for optimism. Please show some progress by actually winning a few games.
  12. Awesome anchor on SportsCentre from.... WINNIPEG!!!
  13. Winnipeggers ARE cheap .. people in this city are always looking to get something for nothing ..that said, when there is a need to pull together and support others .. to support a good cause ..the people of this city can be incredibly generous.
  14. ^Where is 17to85 with his Winnipeggers are cheap comments.
  15. Small consolation given our current status but it must be embarrassing getting stomped by a BC team missing its best defensive player and starting a rookie QB. And to think Rider fans thought they had a shot at the playoffs after last week. Reality has set in.
  16. I'm a little disappointed we couldn't get a stand from the defense when we needed it at the end. It's Liram's fault first, offense second obviously, but still it wouldn't have been nice to limit the Eskies to less than 30 yards and keep them out of field goal range.
  17. If O'Shea refuses to bring in some legit competition for kicker next week after the horrible performance on display it will only add support to the fire O'Shea cause. There are only 4 games left in the season but there is absolutely no excuse to stand pat with Liram and no one else.
  18. Team still struggles to finish drives. Liram is number one on the blame list for this week, but that first half was atrocious from the offense. The time of possession also heavily favoured the Eskies - 22 min to 38 min. Unfortunately, Bellfool will be looked at as calling a good game solely on second half stats. As long as he is fired a the end of the season....
  19. I really don't care if he made the final field goal. He still missed 4 and a convert (I'm thinking he is the worst at converting converts this season). This should be grounds to bring in some competition next week.
  20. Yeah a little over a month ago the sales were around 26,000. Maybe they have sold 6,000 tickets in the last 6 weeks?
  21. With the elimination of the temporary north end zone seats capacity will be in the 36 - 37,000 range. A month ago, there was around 5000 available seats (shown as blues on ticketmaster) in the upper deck. It gradually declined to the approx. 1000 seats left now. While I'm sure there are some seats that are being held back, I doubt the club would deliberately remove seats from unsold status to sold status over the course of the last week.
  22. I took my weekly look at Grey Cup ticket sales and it appears there has been some significant movement in seats. I would estimate there are only 3000 left. Of course, not all the grayed out seats are sold, but I think it's safe to say that only a few hundred more of those will be made available over the coming months. Provided they didn't have to give too many discounts or freebies, props to Miller and the Grey Cup marketing committee for this bump in seats sales. There should be a legit sellout with the way things are progressing.
  23. If he makes it past this year, O'Shea will get a one-year extension just like Claude Noel did with the Jets after his second season.
  24. Unfortunately that shoutout from Charles Barkley to Rod Black earlier this year or last year probably bought him a few extra years. TSN ," Whoa, a famous athlete from the US recognized one of our broadcasters on an American station! We need to keep that guy around!"
  25. It was an entertaining game and we were in it until the end. The better and more deserving team won though, no question about it. Dominated the time of possession and total yards. Questionable calls were not the downfall of the Bombers, the lack of offense in the second half was.
