WildPath reacted to Arnold_Palmer in GDT - Ottawa Redblacks vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers - Let the Redemption Tour Begin!
I like Kramdi more than most. He has a good football IQ and is a solid tackler, but yeah I agree. He’s just a little bit too slow to play where he plays, the ultimate rotational player in certain situations but he’s paid like a star and it’s really hard to justify that, other then being Canadian https://3downnation.com/2024/05/13/the-cfls-15-highest-paid-defensive-backs-for-the-2024-season/

I woke up this morning still in disbelief that the Strev headshot wasn't called on the field. In a game where a QB was already lost to a similar hit. It's honestly hard to figure out.
Also the "offsetting" 10 and 15 yard penalties for two guys tussling was hilarious. Especially when Ottawa had a third guy come in and throw a shot.

Single Dad life man. Rough bedtime or not, nowhere else I’d rather be, Bombers included.
I do appreciate the thread and the recaps though. Now I know it’s worth a late watch.

I hope all his salary while suspended goes against the cap too...the Als should get no savings there for being idiots

To me Woods has that nose spot covered with the Canadians. Adams can kind of line up anywhere.
3 tech just refers to where the guy lines up, like mostly a B gap guy in a very linear sense. It's shifted a lot as focus has moved to pass rush over simple gap control. The occupy 2 OL thing is just a matter of how effective you are and how the other team schemes based on who they view as a threat. In run scheme you're trying to double team across the front and then work up to the linebacker/2nd level, base zone run now leaves backside end out or usually brings a back/receiver to chip/duo block across formation. So if you're any DL vs the run and you can jam up those blocks so that 2nd OL can't break off to get at your LB's that's a pretty big win.
The only teams I see consistently running a gap scheme with run blocking are Hamilton and Montreal, sometimes Sask. Zone is pretty basic now and way more responsive to the fronts you see without having to check at the line.
They are missing really solid rush end and the swing guy. Fayad looks ok, hard to judge anyone off the edge when Jefferson playing so passive to the point he's getting a lot looks where blocking back is just standing there watching him straight away. The opposite end is actually the guy getting the layers of blocking basically since the Ottawa game. Jefferson has a handful of snaps in a given game this season where he fires off and is a threat.

I’m sure ZC is one of the guys Osh will play without practice
Some positive news on the d line

Yeah, some things just aren’t fair. Nevermind football, a special person like that being taken from their family is a ******* travesty.

Man Hubert for a really late pick looks like a solid young piece.

WildPath reacted to JuranBoldenRules in GTD WEEK 4 - BOMBERS @ STAMPS
Let Streveler get reps with the young receivers too and they'll probably develop some chemistry. Even in that game saw lots of evidence of that happening 15-20 mins in.
You're not going to throw the ball 40 times with Streveler but if you can't build an offense around him, Oliviera, Augustine, Smith, Feltmate, 7 OL and whatever receivers we have you're a dumbass. So much for a D to have to think about there, just give them looks where they have to make a choice to free up some space for a runner or receiver. There's no use running empty backfields and even 3 by 2 etc type formations. Make everyone on the field have to look into backfield to try to diagnose what might happen. You get a couple guys stopping their feet and thinking and you have big plays or at least first downs.
Smith is likely the most dangerous American we have on the roster. If he doesn't have a role on offense next week it will be extremely disappointing.

Yeah I don't know what @Noelleris talking about here. We've endured much worse times for much longer
I don't even think the season is lost yet

It’s a travesty that he’s playing. Just because he is playing doesn’t mean he should be. Montreal should have done the right thing in this situation.

I'm not a Randy fan but this is completely out of his control. His been pretty clear about his stance on this - he wants Lemon out but it's up to an independent arbitrator now.

Eli would be the biggest upgrade, since Wallace is raw and eli can help neuf. Also, few dts will want to play 20-30 snaps in 0 tech when facing eli. So we would see more friendly alignments as well. However, as the guy who is frequently not head up on a dt neuf has been brutal. Which is the easier role.
My biggest concern with just swapping C is how much worse neuf will likely get. He fights injuries ever year and continues to play but is significantly reduced by late season. Right now he’s as fresh as can be and still immobile and struggling a lot. The question isn’t if with neuf now it’s when. And it will be sooner rather than later.
It could be advantageous to make the one switch, work Wallace in more reps with the heavy set, then start Wallace in a few weeks while neuf goes to 6th ol. A lot of change in a short period is hard for the ol.

I think Neuf would be better if he had only 1 problematic guy next to him.

Which makes sense. Clercius looks smooth and loaded with potential but he’s far from polished. Brings a lot with out running routes.

Exactly. There was nothing wrong with signing Jake Thomas, he’s still a productive-ish player on a limited snap count. But when he plays 90% of the defensive snaps, that’s the coaching staff.
There’s nothing wrong with bringing in Kyrie Wilson to compete for a spot. There’s nothing wrong with bringing in Brandon Alexander to compete for a spot. But when they don’t actually have to compete in training camp and earn their spots, that’s the coaching staff.
There’s nothing wrong with signing Eric Lofton to be a veteran presence to provide stability if he is the best option. But when he gets handed the spot from day one and hasn’t proven to be all that good? Coaching staff is who looks at that.
I don’t love the choices Walters made this off-season with who to keep and who to let go (I would’ve absolutely kept Bailey and Grant over Wilson and BA, personally - and I would’ve obviously moved on from Bighill), there’s nothing flawed about not completely blowing up your veteran presence all at once. But the way we are managing it now? Not good

He also defended Thomas's age by pointing out that Bryant is good.
I wish people would ask questions that might give even the slightest chance of O'Shea revealing something, even small. Instead of "do you think Thomas is too old" ask "are you happy with the push you are getting from the interior of the D-line". He will probably say "yes", but it at least leaves an opening to answer a question without him needing to crap on a player.

Yes, it does. We literally won a gc using mainly a 30. Toronto used a considerable amount of 30 as well.
No front works, when Jake Thomas is taking the most reps follow by wj coasting.

If Schoen is out for the rest of the season that's $125,000 right there for example. If Lawler sits the full 6 that'll be like $70,000.
Keep in mind if you signed a guy to play half a season you'd pay $100,000 hard cash for a "$200,000" salary. Not that there's $200,000 players sitting around.
Like someone said it will likely come in handy more for building the 2025 team. Maybe you dump a bunch of Collaros salary into 2024, re-sign Schoen.

Save it for restructuring some contracts and move some of this year's money to offset and free up more money next year and go full hog next year.

We are going to clear a TON of cash at game 6, I wonder if and how we will use it.
