This gets me excited. 

I may be the only one who's happy with the appointment.  I never was interested in Higgins and quite frankly there weren't many other candidates out there that I believe have more to offer than Walters does.  
 
Yes it's a hunch but I feel good about the choice and I think he's the guy that will over time get us back to respectability.   He appears to be level headed and not one to make knee jerk reactions.  But the big question is.  Will the fans give this new group the patience to get the job done?  I know this rebuild has been in the works for a few years but the landscape has changed and it may take another 2 years to complete.  
 
I'm confident in the management team that he'll put in place team but I'm willing to be patient.  
 
First move...hire O'Shea as the head coach.

I'm happy. Not ecstatic, but Higgins (or pretty much any other non-surprise candidate) would not have made me ecstatic either.

i've known ever since we got Chris Jones that we'd be losing Osh someday in the not too distant future.
 
to whomever gets him, he'll be bringing leadership that demands accountability, emotional intensity and encyclopedic knowledge of defences and special teams... what he'll need is a guru for the offence. a Chapdelaine type. 
 
Khari was a poor OC and a middling QB coach and he gives me no reason to believe that he's a good choice for you.

He was good enough to get Reilly.

I like the move and I believe that Walter's will turn his detractors around. 
 
I believe he's just as qualified to as the other candidates out there.   

I think some people here would rather have a big flashy name fail than Walters succeed.

X2 - Walters will be just fine. People will have to move on and find other things to bellyache about.

Atomic...excellent post.  The head coach doesn't necessarily have to be the best at X's O's but he does need to be a leader and have the respect of his players.  
 
Just O'Shea's sideline presence seems to show that he has the leadership qualities.  But again my opinion is just based on what I can see and what I've seen from him since he entered the league.   Never met him and never sat down with him and discussed his coaching philosophy.

I think if any of these supposed hires were made by another team you'd be complaining about how the WBB's missed out on the next big thing. 
 
I just wish some of you just stayed on the Jets site because they apparently can do no wrong.      

The head coach isn't going to give this team an offensive identity, that is the job of the offensive coordinator.  The argument that we need an offensive-minded head coach to fix the offense is one that just doesn't fly with me.
 
I think we need a strong LEADER, more than anything else.  And no one will dispute that as a player and a coach, O'Shea has been a great leader.  His experience as a coach is certainly limited but when you stack him up against other coaching candidates that have been floated out there, like Khari Jones, I think he is right on the same page as them.  But to be honest, my preference is based on a gut feeling about the man as an individual more than anything else.  I can't speak for the media or anyone else though.

O how I love it when these tidbits of information come out and it makes some posters on here loo pretty stupid.  Yeah you know who you are. 
 
O'Shea has been one of my top candidates from Day 1.  Is he better than Khari?  Couldn't tell you but I like his sideline presence and his take no prisoners approach. Plus he seems to get the best out of his players.

Miller is hired.
We have a process.
Khari is HC. No process. 
Worman is in. No, he's not.
Walter's in. 
Higgins has been talked to. Among others.
Walter's not in.
Mike O'Shea's name comes up.
Khari's not in.
Danny McManus's name comes up.
Khari's back in or is he?
Miller's calling everything. Maybe.
Nothing's been announced.
Everything is in place, but nothing's been done.
 
…..This week can't end soon enough.

I feel better about that than Khari as HC, though Mike would have a tough job ahead of him.

What would be wrong with McManus? He's the head US scout for a team that has found some solid US talent and he's got great credibility amongst big players in CFL circles
