B-F-F-C got a reaction from blitzmore in Khari Jones - Pros & Cons
I can't use the "quote" functionality but this is a response to brice dream's post.

So what has Miller done since he's taken on the role that has caused you concern that he wont make the right decision?   He had a long career in the league and he's probably interviewed more prospective employees in his lifetime than most people ever will.

I just don't see what he's done to deserve the mistrust.  Except to accept the job of the President of the WBB's that for some reason the fans seem to have a mistrust for.

    It's too bad.

I find it absolutely hilarious that some of you think that you're better qualified to choose the next head coach than a guy who's been in football for a number of years.

Other than the fact you know Khari Jones was a QB for the WBB's, he has a wife named Justine and he enjoys acting,  What do you really know about the man?  Have you ever set down with him and discussed his coaching philosophy or what he thinks needs to be done to fix the teams problems?

    Yeah I thought so.

Many here came in their jeans when the WBB's hired Tim Burke.  Many were so happy when Hamilton passed him over which allowed us to scoop him up.   And those same posters couldn't wait until the team fired Burke.

So lets leave the decision up to those that have more CFL experience than all of us combined.

cause one year is always so make or break. My head is fine thanks but you might want to consult a proctologist.

Again your opinion is based on your personal perception vs. reality.

Someone mentioned this and I think it's important to keep this in mind.  Miller is ensconced in the Wpg business community and if he fucks this up and it becomes a public debacle.  It's going to hurt him more anyone else.

So Doc  Tell me what skills do you believe your perfect hire would possess?   Quite frankly you seem to have this "anything but Winnipeg" attitude.

So tell me, what would your perfect WBB President look like?    And who would you have realistically hired?

You seem to take great pleasure in bashing the team, yet you very seldom provide realistic alternative suggestions.

Regardless  of what side of the ball our next coach comes from.  He must be a leader and a motivator.

Pinball is a perfect example, no previous coaching experience but his players would follow him into a war. He is a motivator and was well respected by all the players in the league.

This why I hope that Mike O'Shea gets an interview.   I like his attacking coaching philosophy and he seems well liked and respected by his players.    I know previous playing experience isn't a guarantee of success but you've got to think that players respect the coach who's played at the pro level vs the ones that didn't.

On another note, I am really tired of reading all these comments from people how they want to hire an offensive guy for head coach... I hate that attitude. Should hire the absolute best head coach (because it is different than being a good coordinator) and trust that as a head coach he will hire good people to run the various parts of the team. I mean for **** sakes we had a **** offense with Kelly being an offensive guy and with Lapo being an offensive guy. I want someone who is a head coach first and foremost not trying to be a head coach and an offensive coordinator.

Oh No!    Miller makes a phone call based on his personal relationship to Chris Walby about trying to fix our inept O-line.

    God forbid...

Look the  normal  chains of command this season have been blurred due to the extenuating circumstances.  Next year will be clearer once the GM and the President are permanently staffed.

Well you know what.  Miller wasn't a businessman before he started Pinnacle, he was a football player.  Some people have what it takes to be successful in everything thy do.   I'm sure many people doubted him then too.

Miller didn't need this job.  He's doing quite well right now and could probably retire right now and just let the money roll in from Pinnacle.  But guys like him need to be challenged and prove to themselves that they can succeed in other fields.  I expect him to succeed and turn this team around.

I honestly think that most Winnipegers are jealous of people who are successful.  In Calgary we celebrate our successful entrepreneurs not vilify them.  I guess that's the difference.

Ok...so he was supposed to hire a GM before the season is over, when he can't talk or interview the people he might be interested in....people give jobs to business associates all the time, not just the bombers, especially if they are qualified. There you go again with the Pinnacle thing...get over it already!

When Jim Popp was hired by the Als, he had 1 year of prior player personnel experience.  Prior to that he was a receivers coach.

When John Hufnagel was hired by the Stamps as head coach and GM.  His only player personnel experience was 2 years  with  the Arena league.

When Wally Buono was hired as the GM of the BC Lions.  That was his first player personnel job, previous CFL positions were all in a coaching roll.

When Jim Barker was hired by the Stamps in 2005.  This was his first GM position as well.

So history shows that GM's can be successful without previous experience.     Also all of these guys were hired by teams who were struggling at the time.

Really!   Adam Rita hasn't been a GM since 2010,  Higgins not since 2008 and the others are non starters.

Higgins would be the only one on the list that I would even give an interview to.   If we're going to look at any current AGM, then we have to give the same consideration to Walters.

John Murphy has never been a GM, I'm not sure that qualifies as ''experienced''.

The question is, would he be a better fit as GM than Walters? And would they be able to co-exist? I'm not so sure about that.

Sure it's easy to throw out a bunch of names. But Would you really want any of these guys? I'd rather stick with Walters over any of those washed up GM's.
There are a few AGM's out there but still unproven when it comes to running a team on their own.

The only credible guy right now could be available.  Wade Miller has to call Mark Cohon and seek permission to speak with Tom Higgins about the open GM and HC position.  I;m sure the league can operate without a head of officiating for a few months. The has to be someone in the league office who can assume he responsibilities   Give him a 3 year contract at $400,000 a year and full reigns of the football operations.

Walters is a great guy but he's just not ready to take on the  job of the GM.

    Wade...get er done.
