  1. Bombers didn't give it much thought, obviously. But there are many terrible events around the world and the selection of those 2 events seems arbitrary and jingoistic. What should be the appropriate criteria for a moment of silence at a sporting event? Why Vegas? That was not made clear. If you're going to honour victims of a tragedy that has transpired in a foreign country, why not then the Manchester bombing in the UK? What about natural disasters - why not also honour earthquake victims in Mexico? What about the Rohinga in Burma? The Edmonton event seems a weird thing to honour or memorialize - since there were no fatalities and the perp appears simply to have been a nutjob since there was no evidence it was terrorism and therefore no terror-related charges. As you say, better to avoid entirely.
  2. It was a relief that the usual singer was replaced at the Ti-Cats game, even if temporarily, by soprano Tracy Dahl - who really belted it out in the correct tempo. But then I have another quibble: why was there a moment of silence for events in Edmonton and Las Vegas?
  3. Not sure if anyone has mentioned Mike Miller. He came off the field favouring his foot or ankle. Same thing with Flanders, it looked like a foot or ankle. I was a bit surprised they kept Harris in for the whole game, he was noticeably limping too.
  4. That answers that. For some reason I thought he was FA after this season. Great! Thanks.
  5. I was suggesting the opposite regarding Davis. His job maybe be safe but he could end up elsewhere next season if he thinks he has a better chance to actually play.
  6. Why are they bringing in QBs? Is this a signal that Dom Davis won't be here next season?
  7. Gonna be a tight game, maybe a clutch catch by JFG does it for Blue.
  8. I wonder if Jamaal Westerman will end up being a coach for the Bombers? MOS indicated today that once #55 returns from the USA in a few days, Bombers will have more to say about his situation.
  9. Yes Fogg and Flanders can easily handle both KO and punt returns.
  10. Ya, it's not the TJ monicker. It's the jersey #14. Both Jeffers Harris and Thorpe. Thorpe prob lands in HAM too.
  11. Bombers previous losses vs Stamps & BC it felt like we could've and maybe should've won those games. But today Winnipeg just got outplayed and did not deserve to win. Sask might be a better team. At least they were today. We'll see which Bomber team shows up next week at home.
  12. They brought in the Dalai Lama or Archbishop of Sask to lay a curse on Jones, so Bombers should be good today.
  13. Please - Neufeld over Coombs any day. Mainly because Neufeld is pretty good player when healthy whereas Coombs is very average, maybe even a bit below average. Plus Coombs just had surgery on a recurring shoulder problem (another dislocation?) and is probably out for the rest of the season if not forever. Bombers would be nuts to acquire him under any circumstances. Declan Cross on the other hand is a player I'd love to see in Blue and Gold. That guy reminds me of Harris.
  14. Agree 100% with this and truly would prefer to see Lankford sit out. Big on Thorpe and his YAC ability. Was a bit of evidence Thorpe played fast and loose with the football last week though, coughed it once and almost twice IIRC. Better not be Lankford who spits the ball out this week.
  15. Utilizing Lankford and Dressler might have something to do with the opponent being Sask. Dressler has been a monster for us vs Sask and Lankford, motivated, returned a punt 70 yards for a TD against his old team in Regina during the pre-season - called back on a penalty. I hope Thorpe is back in for the Banjo Bowl however - and not sure Lankford will be, or even should be, returning punts this time around vs Riders.
  16. Carmichael seems to hanging around opposing receivers whenever there is a big score or explosion play against us, so I could see Hall and MOS making a move.
  17. His hold man, Dressler, was injured so there's that too.
  18. An exciting win. But too many problems to think this team has reached a new level or turned a corner. That was pretty stupid of MOS to ice his own kicker by essentially halting a successful FG with a nonsense challenge that resulted in a re-kick and miss. Does anyone know why there was no convert after the final TD? Hopefully that will not come back to bite.
  19. Tyrell Sutton best RB in the CFL right now.
  20. SJ Green
  21. Down the road, if they want to activate him, where does this kid fit on the 44? He would be one of 21 game-activated Nats. If you look at the Wpg vs Stamps Depth Chart I guess he goes in for Coates? And then they could rotate him through various receiver positions depending on formation. Might give the club options on O such as using Flanders ...
  22. 100% agree. Lefevour just went to the well too often with that plunge off the left tackle. After all, this is pro football. When your short yardage play each and every time is to step left and go off tackle and you do it twice vs Sask and then try to do it for the second time in the same half vs Stamps you gotta think the opposing D would defend against it - and they did. Maybe try to pix it up once in awhile. Sheesh. Makes the Head Coach look stupid.
  23. Just so disappointed by this loss. Sick and tired of losing to the Stamps. It wasn't that Calgary played so well but that Bombers performed so poorly in every facet: offence, defence special teams that just really pissses me off. The highlight for me was our D being stout and shutting the door multiple times with Stamps knocking at the 1. But so many other things throughut the entire game were just plain bad. Bonehead penalties again. I will repeat because I have said it before: we have no return game, I had been waiting for Lankford to fumble again and sure enough he did. Someone said Fogg on punt returns and Lankford on kickoff returns. But no. Lankford isn't the answer for either. We are losing the field position game. Also, the D line tried some new stunts last night but its obvious they are confused out there, even before Tristan O got a burner. Hurl or Westerman or whoever is the QB on D was not able to get them lined up properly in position on time. This goes to coaching on a team that has now given up nearly 70 points in 2 games. All of the DBs took turns looking bad last night and the only linebacker who played reasonably well was Jesse Briggs: Hurl and Leggett sucked. On O - I agree the signs were there last year even - Harris is not a good enough RB any longer. He's courageous but Flanders is better and Bombers need to recognize this although I fear MOS is too stubborn to make a change. Also, the QB play last night was very disappointing and the rope on Nichols needs to be short. He might respond well to having his starter role challenged. That is maybe the way it has to be for him. Receivers except for Dressler and JFG wereen't very good yesterday either. Time for TJ Thorpe? Why did we cut Sheppard? Anyway, I know it is just one game, but Nichols threw quite a few picks at the tail end of last year and now 3 in 2 games. He is not seeing the blitz. Worried ultimately about this team's preparedness and coaching. On paper, the talent level appears to be better than they are putting out on the field.
  24. Andrew Harris
  25. This will be a good test. A chance for Bombers to earn some RESPECT. Bombers played Stamps hard last year, especially the final game where we spotted them 24-0 lead and came back to almost take them as Calgary just stood around in the 2nd half looking complacent and arrogant. Stamps look to be missing a few pieces this year and Bombers are probably better than a year ago. We are very extremely-much overdue for a win vs Calgary. It'll be nice to rub BLMs nose in it.
