  1. Good trade in the sense we got something for nothing. Now was Budaj a cap dump for Montreal? Or did Hutch play himself down to St Johns?
  2. Morrissey wasn't playing as well as they had hoped. And when a young kid doesn't play up to snuff in camp and preseason there is no reason to take a chance on him in the regular season. He will get tons of playing time and probably world junior experience now. Surprised we didn't keep ehlers and/or petan for 9 games but I guess the line up is locked in. Save their 9 games for next season.
  3. Who and to where? Seriously, who wants our garbage. We don't have anything of value to trade and the guys we do have of value, man we shouldn't be trading them.January? be lucky to get a late round pick, the guy sucks. Again, when was the last time something like that happened, trading guys for picks? this isn't the NHL, it's the CFL, this stuff doesn't happen often at all if ever. It's rare for sure. And we don't have guys to trade really, the guys people probably want to trade, we could release an they still wouldn't get picked up. Obviously we do have players of value. We have some veterans. I'm not suggesting we can trade guys for starting Canadians. I'm saying our season is done. If we can get any draft picks for any non-core player, then do it.
  4. Wouldn't surprise me. Then again I said this very same thing like 7 weeks ago and people jumped all over me. They did win one more game so I wasn't correct. But close enough. They appear to be getting worse.
  5. There are trades to be made. Dump guys for picks.
  6. I don't to into plays like that. If it works out everyone calls him an ironed-balled genius. When it fails he's an idiot. But it was the wrong calls. HC often looks perplexed out there. But the good news is it's not the players' faults. Clearly they are very talented and making all the right plays. So don't say otherwise.
  7. Team needs a lot of change. He's one. I hope Walters is very active beginning tomorrow morning.
  8. Did he want to go to free agency or did he want what he wanted and wasn't getting it here. It's a moot point now. Tonight was an embarrassment. I agree with Lawless that it's time to collect picks.
  9. I agree that Petan has a lot of talent. But you have to take some thing a into consideration. Scheif looked great in preseason a couple years ago but was sent down. Regular season is different. Grind of a long season is different. If Petan stayed and slumped 15 games in, he ends up not playing at all. And then you risk stunting his development and hurting his confidence. Plus you've used a year of his entry level contract. Petan needs to be an upper third line guy at least. If he could go to the Rock I'd keep him for sure. But he can't. So he's going to go back to junior. He will make the team next year.
  10. I'd keep Petan for nine games. But the jets have a glut of bottom six guys.
  11. Interesting discussion on Big Breakfast this morning. Maurice has said that if Buff cant get back into the line up in Pre Season then he would not start the season on the top line. So it look like Buff is 3RW with Lowry and Perrault. The discussion was concerning minutes. Will a 3rd line spot give Buff the ice time he needs to stay engaged? I wonder if swapping Buff and Frolik lower the goals for a bit but likely also lower the goals against. If Im Perrault Im saliavting and centering those two big bodies. Also looks like Morrissey goes back to junior. So Ill predict Pardy and Clitty as 5-6 D. They might keep Postma as 7 then. Ellerby waived to St Johns.
  12. He apparently improved a lot last season. I think if our depth this year was as bad as last he's make the team. But he's a victim of numbers. I doubt he's claimed off waivers but it wouldnt surprise me
  13. Those of you that have Xbox One and PS4, what are the pros and cons in your opinions? I really like the Call of Duty games even though I generally dislike first person shooters. But im not avid so I dont buy games on day one usually and im sort of confused by the different Call of Duty games. doh
  14. At this point, Hali I think has made the team. The other forwards? I'd say Galiardi(before the accident) and Peluso. Dark horse...Petan. As for the defencemen I think Morrissey goes to the minors with Chariot and they go with 8 for a while before deciding who to get rid of. Postma/Clitsome are pretty similar in offensive talent, Would imagine one of those gets traded. Morrissey cant be sent to the IceCaps. Chariot can. Clitty has the big contract. postma might entice a GM into giving up a bit more. As for bottom six...Lowry has made the team, this I am sure of. Slater will be 4C. That leaves two spots for Peluso, Galiardi, Thorburn, Halischuk, Tangradi.
  15. Hutch looks really nervous or uptight or something. Hopefully he relaxes. But anyone who thought he would wrest the starters job away has to be disappointed. I dont see how they can send Lowry down. So that means we have this pencilled in on opening night: Kane-Scheif-Wheeler Ladd-Little-Buff Lowry-Perrault-Frolik ???-Slater-??? Hard to argue that Halischuk hasnt played himself onto the team and Tangradi has probably proved he's an extra forward at best (likely traded or waived). Galiardi wasnt signed to sit in the press box. If it comes down to Halischuk/Galiardi, who do you go with? And can one switch to the RW and have them both play? And if so, what to do about Thorburn who has the nice new contract and Peluso who Maurice has said deserves more playing time? Halischuk has the two-way deal so he's easy to send down but it would be a shame if that happens. I think he deserves to stay. On the back-end: Enstrom-Bogo Stuart-Trouba ???-??? Clitsome, Pardy, Ellerby, Postma and Morrissey are battling for 2-3 spots. I think Ellerby is waived eventually. Postma might be trade bait. Clitty and Morrissey start with Pardy as the extra D when Morrissey inevitably needs some cooling off time. Or Pardy goes down, Ellerby remains as extra D. I still think they see Postma as trade bait. Chariot (who's name I keep spelling wrong) looks good too and is potentially a call-up when needed.
  16. I play the NHL games. Grand Theft Auto. Batman. Occasionally the Call of Duty games. So not much of a gamer. I unfortunately had to replace my phone last week (with an i6) so my plan to get a next gen consol is on hold for a few weeks. I'd lean towards Xbox simply because I had an Xbox 360 for so long (had three actually...two red rings of death) though I had a PS1 before that. It generally comes down to what your group of friends buy, if you have any interest in online gaming. I never did get Grand Theft Auto V and I understand they are releasing a next gen version in November. Ill probably wait til end of October and pick one up with NHL15 once enough updates have come out to make it worth it. Then a few weeks of hockey before GTA is released. Or I wait til Christmas and hope someone buys me a system!
  17. Some of the objectionable conduct are just silly. A guy gets up and "celebrates", probably spouts off to the opposing player and gets a flag. Who cares. I want to see anger and energy. I dont want a guy who got a play made against him to get up thinking "hahaha you got a flag". I want him getting up saying "yeah? Bring it" and go out and make a play himself. Some people make too much of the media. Remember, this is their job and they have stories and deadlines etc. If they have an assignment and it hinches on a MOS presser and he's literally saying nothing, do I blame a writer for asking questions or even trying to lead the HC down a path? Thats their job. If I was MOS, I'd just be honest and straight forward and that doesnt mean blaming the players. But a lot of the media arent idiots so treating them like they are isnt worth the trouble.
  18. Should be an interesting game tonight. Looks like the most veteran player in the line up is Frolik. The kids will have all night to show what they can do. Petan sure is impressive...and Ehlers has some tremendous talent. One more year to purcolate for both, I think, but next year's training camp will be a lot of fun. Wonder where these guys will fit in next season, likely both needing mid-six to top-six play to really reach their potential.
  19. If willy couldn't hear the play call why would he sacrifice a down? Wouldn't just about anything be better than that? Can he not call his own play? Also seemed to be a willy error on the last play. He was tossing that ball right there no matter what. Didn't even look up. Just tossed it. When he's successful he has more patience. Bombers in free fall. Will they win another game?
  20. Ill go one better. They should never let Willy play again. Thats the only way to ensure our starter never gets hurt. Come on... obviously his injury is not something that can be aggravated by playing. The way I heard it explained, its all about pain management and Willy is able to play through the pain due to guts and, presumably, injections.
  21. They really want to see Ehlers and Lowry perform. In Lowry's case, it makes sense. I didnt think Ehlers showed enough to take a look at him on the top line. But should be a lot of fun to watch.
