  1. Well good. Romby can certainly run up and down the field quickly. He wont have the ball when he does it, but whatever.
  2. The notion that conservatives are better at balancing budgets is pure bunk. http://www.progressive-economics.ca/2011/04/29/fiscal-record-of-canadian-political-parties/ You should refrain from making baseless accusations about people (re: NDP puppet). She leans left - that doesn't make her a "puppet" I was remarking on OUR NDP who took over a balanced budget from Filmon. Also, one could say its baseless to say Judy isnt an NDP puppet. Ill stick to my perspective. If you watch her answer questions, she often has no idea what she's talking about. Leaning left doesnt make her a bad person, just a misguided one. I keed I keed. I've actually run the gamut of voting my adult life and have voted for NDP, Liberals and Cons. Sometimes people get far too entrenched in the party rather than the person. Like I said, I dont like everything about Bowman, but I like a lot more than Judy. I voted for Katz the first time (having disliked him personally since I rented the Ball Park). By his second run, I was off the Sammy bandwagon. But last election, who were you going to vote for? Judy who promised to raise taxes or Sammy who lied about raising taxes? What actually turned me off Sammy right at the beginning was his broken promise to put the Goldeyes into a blind trust and his arrogance in saying 'so what'?
  3. It wasnt Broadbeck's point. It's Steeves. Also, disagree about lack of support for spending cuts. Then again Im still waiting to Darth Harper to bring back the death penalty, make abortion illegal, bring in martial law and all other manner of goofball scare tactics the opposition used. I would love to see him stop funding the CBC and dismantle the CRTC though.
  4. My take on Harper cutting the GST is this: I'd rather we keep it for how little I notice it. But he made a promise and stuck by it. The NDP promised not to raise the PST and then did so, violating the law. When they realised it was illegal, they changed the law. They took over government with a balanced budget. Federal transfer payments and tax revenue increased substantially under the NDP and yet they could never balance the books. Oh they pretended to for a few years, raiding Hydro profits to create a fake balance. Then they stopped predenting and changed the law again so they could run deficits. I wouldnt have a problem with the PST increase if I thought the NDP were doing everything they could to limit spending and provide good service. They arent. Judy really does come across as a dimwit. Steeves does too though so she is in good company. Steeves is a lawyer but when I met him he didnt seem like a very good one. I would certainly never hire him. Judy cant give a straight answer that hasnt been given to her by her handlers. Does she really not realise that her admitted 3% tax increase amounts to 12% over four years? REALLY?? This election sort of remind me of a campaign idea I have for the next provincial election. In my riding, our MLA is Dave Gaudrea and Im tempted to run against him. Except I wont put my name forth - my campaign will be based on "Anyone But Dave". Im leaning towards for Bowman because I like more of his ideas than anyone elses. And while I doesnt wow me, he also doesnt disgust me so he gets my vote.
  5. What? The Coyotes lost $25 million last season and sold 51% of the team. This was the ice Edge idiots that promised to usher in a new era of prosperity. Couldnt even make a year.
  6. Scheif had at least two, maybe three really good chances in close. He's going to be very good. Wheeler was tremendous (which is good since I got him in my pool). We were all hoping he'd play an entire season like he finishes. If this is any indication, he could be a top ten player this year. Was it this forum that I argued with someone that Wheeler was a point-a-game player? Pavs was also very good. No chance whatsoever on that first goal. Buff played like a man posessed which is good since he's likely now on the top six. Perrault seemed to have very good puck posession skills. He will get a few goals this year. If they put that effort in every night they will surprise some people this season. Always nice to beat the mangy mutts. I loved hearing that Bettman was in Glendale, commending Coyotes' ownership for "everything they have done" for the franchise. Oh yeah, lose $25 million and sell the team within a year. Ideal owners. lol
  7. Lawless has a habit of saying "mute point". Drives me nuts.
  8. Good article by Taylor except his blind defense of the Katz. Sammy had a sweetheart relationship with most media for years. His falling out with the Freep was over coverage of his divorce. The media in this town protected Sammy for a long time, until the walls caved in.
  9. No she's not. It would be trading one sort of corruption for another. She has zero grasp on anything. She's an NDP puppet. Taxes are a neccesary evil. But the socialist method of throwing money at everything and financing everything through taxes is not the way. I have no issue with a tax increase but when politicans tell me we "need" it while mis-managing current revenue, thats BS. This falls on the province a lot too. Winnipeg doesnt get its fair share of tax dollars. I guess the good thing about a Judy win and the NDP fighting for their lives is, we will get lots of new shiny things. Ofcourse, it will be coming out of our pockets. And when the PC's win and tighten belts to pay off the NDP debt they will be accused of gutting services. God forbid a government actually want to balance the budget. I dont like everything about Bowman. But I dont like anything about Judy. And Steeves is the dictionary definition of empty suit.
  10. Thats a good point. Galiarid or Hallischuk might end up taking the 3LW spot if the Jets want more offense there. But Lowry's fiestyness, jam and aggression should allow Perrault and Buff to generate plenty of offense.
  11. A couple of the "fringe" candidates are fairly good. I take a pretty strong interest and generally want my vote to count as much as possible, so like you, I see these guys with no chance of winning and I try to find someone I can live it out of the front runners. A friend of mine who is somewhat of a political commentator informed me that there is a strong belief by many that the polling is way off and that Steeves and Bowman are much closer. Im not sure what to believe. The Polling could certainly be well off (it was last election). But I cant see anyone looking at Steeves as viable at this point.
  12. CJOB reports Steeves late to their mayoral forum. This guy has mentally checked out. Why is he still running? makes me wonder what backroom deal has been made....
  13. The fact Trudeau seems to think its everyone else's fault that people are vile murders....and even his own party members disagree with him. His "whip out our CF-18s" comment was also terribly unPrime Ministerial. He's such a childish person. He sort of reminds of a young person who goes to school and collects degrees but doesnt really know anything...but thinks they know everything. Harper should roast him in debates. Im voting Bowman too. His sales tax idea has merit but will likely never happen. If Bowman were to win, Selinger will stonewall him at every turn as punishment. Noticed that Steeves has declined to take part in two straight forums. Apparently he has not attended any forums that have to do with poverty, aboriginal community and post secondary education. WTF is he doing? Terrible political advisors.
  14. New Poll out today showing Federal Liberals slipping. Thats bad news for them as there is really no reason their big lead should be evaporating so quickly. But everytime Trudeau opens his mouth, more people realise he's all hat, no cattle.
  15. All Judy fans should watch this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GvxItckgkGw
  16. Judys platform is pretty simple. If you like how the NDP have operated under Greg Selinger then you will like Judy. I think Bowman's BRT plan is unrealistic but I commend him for 100% backing it. Of course he's unlikely to be able to actually do it unless he knows something about federal and provincial cash that no one else knows. I'm leaning strongly to bowman. Part of that is I like him. Part of it is I don't want Judy.
  17. Dont the Bombers have some communications director that is supposed to be on top of these things? When a Jets player tweets something dumb, his phone rings three seconds later and its Scott Brown.
  18. Its very difficult to defeat an experienced candidate when they have the provincial government and big unions working the campaign. To be honest, every candidate has some ideas I like and some I dont. I just dont trust Steeves as far as I could throw him. He comes across sleazy to me. He was a do-nothing counsellor in Sammy's back pocket until popular opinion turned on Sammy and then suddenly Steeves was anti-Kats. yeah right. His platforms seems designed to be as opposite to Judy and Bowman as possible. So sure, maybe thats what he really believes. I tend to think he gambled on being the "alternative" and has lost the bet. Today, his placard at his presser listed Bowman's platform as increased property taxes and a 4% sales tax. That is absurdly untrue. It's BS like that that ruin politics and shouldnt be allowed. You should not be able to lie or mislead like that. I met Gord many years ago when he was a young lawyer and he seemed useless as **** on a truck. A friend of mine was good friends with him later on so I tried to keep an open mind. Can't do it. I saw someone on twitter make an interesting comment about Bowman, that he causes consternation amongst his opponents because he's hard to fit into a specific political spectrum. Steeves calls him left of Judy. Oh come on. Again, nonsense political posturing. Even if I was considering Steeves, his lies and BS would have chased me away. If Steeves really cared about Winnipeg. And if he really wanted to prevent Judy and the NDP getting a hold of City Hall, he would have dropped out and endorsed Bowman. He's getting such bad advice. Barring a miracle or some major dirty trick, Steeves will be looked at as the veteran who got whooped by a newcomer and ran a terrible campign. If he steps down gracefully, he lives to fight another day. Now? Im not so sure.
  19. Gord Steeves is a real brainiac. We can debate Hobogate all we want to, but whomever advised him to wait a week to address it gave him very bad advice. His bizarre presser at the time was another head scratcher. He sighed heavily, looked defeated. When the poll came out showing him ahead of Bowman he implores Bowman to drop out so Judy has some competition. Now that he's well behind Bowman, Steeves wont take his own advice. His presser today with the poster that was straight out BS about Bowman's platform and his attacks on him are silly. Steeves looks like a guy who doesnt know when to quit and whos ego wont let him do the right thing. "If I cant win, Ill make sure Bowman doesnt either". He seems content to try and beat Bowman rather than letting the right and left duke it out (and yeah we can debate that but whatever). When Steeves abrubtly cancelled his Friday presser and all but disappeared from social media over the weekend, I thought he was going to do the right thing. Nope. Very disappointed in Steeves. Not surprised, but disappointed.
  20. Its really a no-brainer. They wanted to dump Tangradi's one way contract and Montreal wanted to dump their one-way contract. Win-win. Jets were able to pry away another young asset so even better for them. If Pavs gets hurt it would have meant Hutch and Helly as our goalies. Thats absurd. Budaj gives the Jets veteran insurance but still allows Hutch to be the number 2. Budaj will be helpful to Helly's development also. Unless ofcourse Budaj is pissed and demands a trade (like he did in Montreal).
  21. Pavlec going into his fourth year as our starting goalie is the equivalent to keeping Max Hall as our starting QB for the same length. Poor comparison.
  22. The Jets have 82 games. They can wait until after the CFL season. Yes. Usually. But the Bombers' season is all but over unfortunately.
  23. Not losing interest, just hope. Will be more focused on Jets now. Bombers suck + cooling weather + Jets = lowering priority for bombers. That's reality.
  24. Nick Leddy is good but not the type of D help we would need. I'm glad we didnt give up one of our goalie prospects for him.
  25. If they hope Budaj is the answer tI replace pass then it's a terrible move. I would suspect it was a swap of minor league players and since holland has a bit of upside Montreal wanted us to take the salary off their hands Budaj is well regarded as a great locker room guy and good for young players and with our young goalies he could be seen as a mentor. It's also a little bit of insurance because we have no one behind hutch if pavs gets hurt.
