  1. Buck is the starter because he's the best QB we have right now. Period
  2. He was not better than Buck yesterday.
  3. I live in the area so I made sure to check out the traffic situation. It was remarkably good prior to the concert. It certainly helped that there was no rush hour but clearly the plan was working. I also observed many available parking along Pembina highway so I assume the majority took transit. It also seemed like there was very little non-concert traffic as if people were avoiding the area which is wise. Won't be as easy with rush hour traffic but people will learn. Following twitter for the post concert coverage was maddening. Whiner-peg. 33,000 people leaving at the same time and some idiots complaining it was taking too long. I remember waiting in many long lines of traffic going to and from the old stadium. Just the way it is Hilarious to see the usual media suspects like kives Etc gleefully retweeting the complaints but ignoring the majority who tweeted how great the experience was and how fast they got home.
  4. Parking shouldn't be a concern. There were a ton of lots on Pembina HWY that charged $10 and when I drove by at 6:45 there were lots of spots available. There were some "unofficial" lots further south also that didnt mind people parking for night if they came in for a couple of drinks first. I think this will al get worked out. I dont think access is really an issue. The biggest hurdle is the UofM's rules that wont allow access until 90 minutes before the game. If they could change this, more people would arrive earlier. I also agree there is plenty of land for some surface lots on campus. As ugly as surface lots are, it would be cheap to throw down some gravel (look at the lot at Canad that was the old arena grounds...they didnt even charge for it).
  5. Not really. Some of the issues were fan-related. Too many people trying to drive onto campus without a pass. Too many idiot drivers blocking other drivers. And how many people not going to the game were out and about when they didnt really need to be in that area. I remember missing the starts of some games at CanadInns, sitting traffic on Kenaston. Traffic jams are to be expected. Period.
  6. Does anyone know if the "Bomber Traffic Plan" is in place for concerts also? I have Taylor Swift tickets and if 30,000+ people are left to their devices it could get ugly next week. Thats the next big test.
  7. Wednesday Night. Pre Season. And IGF has been open for a couple of weeks to anyone who wants to take a tour.
  8. Nope. He sucks. If he is so emotionally attached to the team that he takes a giant dump on them when they play poorly then I dont want to hear it. Im not saying be a homer at all times, but Bob has no problem calling what he sees without sounding like a ****. And thats not the issue. When Doug is providing insight, thats fine. But he tries too hard, uses too many words, uses big words for no reason and often gets it wrong or confuses himself. Im sure the Bombers dont appreciate their rights holder constantly trashing certain things like the traffic either. We get it, it sucked. Dont beat a dead horse. Much prefer the other guy...
  9. While I agree it sucked. Im not mad about it. Hindsight is 20/20. And this was Pre Season. I anticipate they will straighten things out. This has certainly generated some good discussion: - Bus Lane (I said the same thing last night as a poster on here, can they designate one of the outbound lanes as a Bus Only lane to the Stadium)? I assume this requires city and police resources. - Cadets working the major intersections. Make the inbound traffic move better and longer rather than the lousy light cycles we have now - More busses, more regular intervals (although from my area in St Norbert, I passed large groups waiting, then passed a fully loaded bus, then a bus mostly empty) - Allowing people in more than 90 Mins and providing some sort of pre-game entertainment/activities. They wont tail gate...so be it. But have concessions and whatnot going on at the Stadium. make it an event for people. This is a UofM issue though. Im sure the Bombers would love people in 2-3 hours early, eating and drinking and buying merch - More radically, they could create some more surface lots along Chancellor Matheson, simply gravel lots will do for now. I think things will drastically improve just with more busses and fans realising they cant drive on campus without a pass, decreasing gridlock. Im optimistic. I still believe its a great location and everything will work out in the end.
  10. I did not attend the game but living in the South, I went for a drive at 6:15. CJOB reported traffic moving steadily but within a few minutes that had changed. Transit under-estimated the amount of bus users (which is hilarious) and it seemed like a lot of fans were not aware of the fact only passholders could access the campus as many cars being turned around. It would help if they had cadets working the main intersections as traffic was stopping in the middle of the intrsection while trying to beat the light and blocking cross-traffic. That created headaches (busses were doing this too - Bus 465 Im looking at you). Some people took to running red lights. It got nasty. I suspect this all improves dramatically in time once people get used to everything. It was nice seeing so many people walking from Pembina but for those occasional stormy games, that might not be as good. I listened to the game and the most glaring thing to me was Doug Brown sucks. Wow, is he bad. You can tell he is not a professional broadcastor. He tries way too hard to show everyone how smart and witty he is. He talks too much, uses too many words to make a point and was proud to be negative. He was hard to listen to. I hope CJOB cuts him. he would get an idea for a big word and try to use it and either use it wrong or lose track of where he was going and Bob would have to save him. Bye bye Doug.
