  1. People had input .. whether or not it was listened to is another matter entirely. I questioned why we didn't draft any o-linemen this year. I was told there weren't any worth drafting. And whoever told you that was mostly right. The only "ready" OL in this class was Brett Jones and I remember plenty of people bringing up that he was a risk because of his interest in a non-football related career path. I was going to say Matt Sewell was a "ready" OL whom a lot of people thought TO got for a steal after he gave up his NFL dream almost immediately after the draft. Then I wiki'd and realized he went back to school.
  2. He looks like a VICIOUS pass blocker...
  3. Other than a DB (who was probably intended to be someone in the pipeline at safety) his drafting makes a lot of sense. Our NI receivers were TERRIBLE when he got here (lots drafted) - we decided to go NI at MLB (3 lb's drafted so that we had backups for Muamba when Labbe left) - we wanted some rotational DL NI's a la DB97 (3 drafted) The only real mistakes I see are the NI RB's that he drafted (since we were pretty set going IMP at that position) - who knows if there were any decent OL prospects available when he drafted those RB's... they weren't exactly high picks
  4. in the article this morning Burke listed "Everything" as what was injured on Boatman....
  5. We see it all the time when our DLine is working well... normally excellent QB's seem to suddenly be unable to hit the wide side of a barn, even on the occasions that they actually have time to throw the ball. Neither Goltz, nor Hall were expecting to have time to go to their second read, or even finish their first read on any given play. So even when they did get time, they didn't feel like they could settle themselves and go through their reads, especially the reads opposite of their blind side since they can't see the DL coming in when they do that. Late reads to the right side of the line are dangerous because fumbles happen when you try to throw late with the blind side DE charging in (and I imagine those hits hurt ALOT)... with our line EVERY SINGLE READ on EVERY SINGLE PLAY felt like it might be a late read because the QB's had no confidence that our OL was going to stop anyone for even a reasonable amount of time.
  6. I really agree with this... Hall didn't have the time for ANY of his routes to properly develop ALL GAME (Goltz didn't either) Both QB's were basically forced to throw balls before they knew for certain that their receiver was going to get to the right spot first (or at all) OR try to put the ball into extremely tight windows because the window that they want to hit won't be open soon enough. I mean Boatman wasn't even slowing down his guy on the blind side half the time.... Edm didn't need to blitz to get blitz level pressure on the QB
  7. Not sure if it's fair to compare Max to Cleo when Max has only had a single game with full prep to this point
  8. I like that Randle guys highlight video... wouldn't want to be a DB rushing with him there... vicious blocks He also had a Blink style highlight in his video (you know the kind... runs into the pile of OL/DL and then pops out the side for big yards.
  9. Max Hall had 162 yards passing in just under 2 quarters. Maybe Hall isn't the answer but Goltz sure isn't. He also went basically 12/12 against Hamilton in the first half (two dropped passes that hit receivers in the hands) and dropped a beauty to Kohlert in the endzone. Second half wasn't as good, but our Defense basically disappeared in the second half and I think he got all of two series in the first 20 minutes of that half.
  10. Greg Ellingson I didn't get a strike last week?
  11. Rich any possibility that the posts in chat for game day could be moved to a game day thread after the game/>?
  12. Boatman was getting KILLED on the left side tackle...
  13. I think we've basically decided we aren't going to be using a NI running back... since we aren't we might as well not have 2 on the roster (especially one who can't stay healthy) Also Swiston is hurt...
  14. till the death eh 17? at least we know that if your ever a captain of a ship and she sinks, you would go down with her. You going to argue with anything I've said or just try and poke away at people? Which is more logical? That Arceneaux is a ****** of epic proportions who is taking to twitter to slag an ex team mate over a comment that said nothing more than "Wow." (which is probably what every one of us said when we saw the trade) or that it's more good natured than anything. It's not that I'm defending Elliott to the death, it's that I'm arguing against the over reactions and piling on that goes on here far too often. Pay attention and you might see exactly what sorts of things I will argue. Iunno... calling someone a clown doesn't feel like good natured ribbing to me....
  15. Oy. Elliott showed ability to move the football through the air, and a penchant for turnovers. Goltz has showed an ability to be able to win games with his legs, but is a terrible passer. Neither guy is the answer on his own, but Elliott as starter with Goltz coming in the red zone would be a decent hybrid attack. Too bad neither would be terribly interested in being options 1A and 1B. I was actually thinking somethign similar last year... Elliot until you are in the red zone and then sub in Brink (who actually performed admirably in the red zone surprisingly enough)
  16. That, of course, makes the assumption that he'll be the 3rd stringer in BC for the rest of the season. The logical conclusion to be drawn from this trade is that he'll be the #2 qb once he's up to speed with the playbook. is that really logical? I'd be very surprised if BC put Pierce ahead of the guy who's been number 2 all year. I'd expect they keep Demarco at #2 unless he struggles. Pierce seems much more like an insurance policy in case of Lulay getting hurt and their young guy being in over his head. If the Lions didn't have belief in Demarco at #2 they wouldn't have started the season with him there. Or they didn't have any better options available than to have a guy they only hoped was far enough along at backup...
  17. Wild is making me forget that we had a real promising guy go down with injury in that position at the start of the year. and he long-snaps
  18. Think he was brought back too quickly - Wasn't game-ready when he came back and was re-injured as a result
  19. Tin Hat time.... Buono knows Walters is a bad GM and thinks by making a seemingly bad value trade pump up Walters value to the extent that he receives a contract, keeping the hapless Bombers basement dwellers for even longer... ZZZ - Sounds to me like BC wanted someone with experience just in case something happened in the run-up to playoffs (it could be they don't like the development of whomever they have at third string). They got rid of someone that they expected to lose in the expansion draft anyways.
  20. Evidently Arceneaux is an Elliot fan
  21. I Re-read that again and tell me that it doesn't sound ridiculous. Injury History != Injury Future Tate when heathy has been superb... if he gets released and Goltz/Hall fall apart from this point forward (to the extent that the team doesn't feel like they can be the answer) it will be hard for whomever ends up our GM to not bite. We NEED a QB, sure Tate may be Pierce 2.0... but at least when he's hurt he is completely out and not grabbing all the first team reps all week instead of who is actually going to play. I actually don't think his injuries are particularily concerning - The dislocated shoulder thing can happen, he had surgery on it right away (which is smart, instead of trying to play through the injury and causing permanent damage). Then he breaks his forearm... completely unrelated and sounds a little unlucky. Who breaks a forearm?! (other than Glenn) This year it seems to me that his forearm injury might be related to him overtraining in an attempt to rehab after his previous injury (they've called it like Tennis elbow, which is essentially overuse) If he comes back and is quickly injured on another part of his body then I'll admit that he is probably not ever going to be reliable... at this point it seems to me that he has had two injuries and overtrained to rehab the second.
