I am really looking forward to this game for several reasons; the Bombers will have an opportunity to measure themselves against what looks to be a good team, and after watching most of the two games last night, I desperately want a good game to watch. I cannot see many weaknesses in the Bomber lineup, unless Fenner decides to take the night off again. We will see if Masoli targets him right off the bat. 

Looking forward to tonight’s game. Not only because the Bombers are playing, but also to expunge the memory of those two so called football games last night. Just embarrassing...

I mean we saw him win games from behind a couple years ago when the defense was the shits... I think this is a very unfair comment. The way he is slinging the ball this season I'd have a lot of faith in Nichols being able to lead the come back if circumstances were such that they needed it. 

I love the absolute certainty of some posters when it comes to things they know little about.  "This guys sucks." Whoops, no.  "Ok, this guy sucks." Dang, wrong again.  "Alright, this guy for sure sucks!"  Crap, he's good too.  So people just love to revel in their wrongness.  Here's a tip.  If you don't know what you're talking about, absolutes are probably a bad idea.

That's ok....I have a formula, created in my basement, on a spreadsheet.... that proves Nichols isn't that good...

Consecutive pass completions are meaningless....

Nichols isnt flashy.. doesnt put up huge numbers yardage wise, but he is smart and cerebral and is like a killer laying in wait.. tiu screw up and ge seems to have the ability to recognize it immediately and exploit it.
He plays within himself and the gameplan and doesnt force things and make critical game and momentum altering errors...and that's all he needs to keep doing...the results speak for themselves
 

I sense Nichols getting  a bit too high and too happy, he's got to keep  an even keel and stay away from the roller-coaster ride he fell off last year.  As Harris says "don't get high on your own juice".  Hopefully memories of last year's boo-parade ring in Nichols ears nightly as a reminder of  how quickly it can all fall apart.   A well timed but meaningless loss may be in order to help keep the team grounded going into L-Day for an enormous butt kicking of the mighty useless Riders. 
 
 

I doubt only the OC was responsible for that - we’re all familiar with Reilly’s body of work. 

I think Matt Nichols should play on special teams and do a really shity job of blocking so that he can have a longer field to work with and rack up more yards. Lame that he isn't.

I don't know what the coaches are thinking but a lot of fans think Nichols is boring to watch - especially with the offensive weapons he's got. What's the point in having Chris Matthews if he hardly sees the ball?  Nichols decides very quickly to throw the ball out of bounds. He does that  alot. He slides or goes down as soon as a defender gets a pinky on him, instead of fighting for yards. We are blessed to have a shut-down Defence. But if Bombers management is thinking that at least Nichols can manage things so we might not lose - then I think people are going to stay home instead of buying tickets to see the team play. They might sell more tickets by giving Streveler the reigns. He's exciting to watch, even if there are some growing pains.  Fans want to see him play.

Not that long ago the Bombers could move the ball but couldn't score touchdowns, it was all field goals. Those days are over.

(can't "scheme" to stop Whitehead, he's just too good)
However you rate Nichols, it's safe to say the Offence  will be very good, with him running it.
It's fun to follow, and I don't mind the back and forth, that's the point of the forum,
but it's irrelevant.

We've gotten 2 wins in two tries with him at the helm.  Neither Mitchell or Reilly can say that.  Are they better quarterbacks?  Maybe, but thankfully, football is a team game and this team is winning.  Funny how quickly we forget the days when we weren't, the days when we were trying to figure out how many wins we might get and whether that would be enough to get us into the playoffs.  Nichols isn't the best qb in the league, but maybe, he doesn't need to be. 

Yes,  I’d agree, Mitchell and Reilly are the top 2 QBs in the CFL. It’s not even worthy of debate.
But, 
they too, can only play to the level of their teammates and Coaching. Right now, after that strange game played in Calgary, we see that even though Reilly had an 85.7% completion average (elite) and 354 yards passing (that magic number) and 2 TD passing..B.C. lost the game. And there’s no guarantee that if Mitchell stayed in the game, that Calgary would have won.
On Thursday another reputed elite QB threw for 345 yards, but it took him 54 attempts. That’s Harris, and his book of stats. Is he  top 3 QB? Debatable. Certainly a good QB in most regards.
I’m told that the Bombers were fortunate because our middle-bonker-rated QB didn’t play well..but the team did, especially on defence. Team game for us in that one. Fortunate? Debatable.
As to Masoli, I’m still waiting to see. He’s got a pretty stacked team in Hamilton, so can he take the next step when he’s not playing Saskatchewan, Toronto or Montreal? We’ll see.
 The Bombers are in a good spot right now through team discipline, defence, effort and Coaching. Oh, and good QB play at the right time. I really don’t care if we’re not allowed to call Nichols anything but our starting QB. The Bombers are winning with him and really, that’s all that matters.

have you checked the bomber history of QBs that have won greycups?  a few of them were "game managers" and some of them pretty ****, but the defence carried the day.
Is Nichols better then Bo? No.   Better then Colaros, Davis, Adams, Pipkin, Masoli and HArris.. yes. 
Sorry,. I wouldn't replace Nichols withone other then Bo, and i'm not sure i would take the Cap Hit of 700k for him either.

Nichols is BAD -- definitely not a championship calibre QB. One of the most immobile QBs to have ever walked the face of the Earth.
Some of the throws he makes, I wonder how he ever made it pro.

It might be just a select few posters I'm seeing do this, but man some of these criticisms just get so old.  Sure it's all warranted and good to rip the guy when he throws bad passes or makes a bad decision, but now it's rip him even when he completes a deep ball to Matthews that was called back, or the one to Whitehead that stood?  I mean, what is this?  Some Nichols witch hunt where he can do no right or something?
I'm not going to pretend that Nichols was all good, but on series's where our offense was off he wasn't the only one who made the errors.  Andrew Harris was not good either outside his TD catch and had as much to do with the struggles, as did Fenner on defense, Adams and some of Lapo's play calls that 17to85 talks about.
Nichols isn't above criticism and he doesn't necessarily deserve heaps of praise on his head.  But it's absolutely ridiculous to assume that he single-handedly wins or loses games.  That's not how Mike O'Shea's team works.
And his passing yards are meaningless.  You can rack up yards all day against bend but don't break defenses, but if you don't get TDs out of them, you are overrated.  Yup, I said it.  Passing yards are completely meaningless.

The in-show interview that TSN deems to be a special part of their coverage has, to me, always been a huge distraction. Can’t stand them. I wouldn’t mind so much if they hit the high points they’re trying to make, and then move forward, but no, they carry on like a run-on sentence. They’re fillers and have no purpose during a sports game.
This year, they’ve also added helpings of stadium food offerings. Fine, show us what’s available, but don’t shove it down our throats. The gags are on us I guess..
Then again, who ever said TSN pushes quality over quantity. 

You just know that some suit had the bright idea that they need to be more entertaining in the booth to draw people's interest. That **** annoys the hell out of me. The game is the entertainment, the talking heads are there only to supplement and compliment that. Who ever decided commentators were the stars of the show has made sports really hard to watch.

One more thing... TSN's coverage sucks. Spent 20 minutes hanging off every word that Ricky Ray said, while the game went on in the background, often in a split screen so we could watch Ricky Ray. Too much yammering about Hotdogs, Burgers and drinking from a shoe. Tell me about the freaking game. Tell me which players are coming in and going out. You know actual football stuff.

It’s funny seeing you find every avenue possible to be negative. Just enjoy the ride, man
