Dave Dickenson is a good coach but he's an arrogant, whiny ******* too. The Miced up segments have done him no favours, just show what a ****** he is.

Let’s get real. Bombers had no business being in the western final. Prior to playoffs, Riders lost their starting QB to a no-call dirty hit.  Bombers got fined for no-call rough play, and a headshot on back-up QB in quarter final versus Riders. During the Semi-final versus Stamps numerous missed calls by the refs gave Bombers an uneven playing field. Otherwise, it would have been a rout. Riders, in spite of being only three years into a rebuild, continue to outperform the Bombers. Two teams going in two opposite directions....just the fact. Kindest regards. 
 

There is no way I want O'Shea going anywhere. They haven't won a Grey Cup, but they have been consistent winners and you would think eventually they'll break through for one.
The Bombers (recent historical) problem has usually been that any coach with some success gets dumped pretty quickly when he fails (Berry, LaPo) and then we realize that the replacements aren't nearly as good as we thought (Kelly, Burke).
O'Shea has led the Bombers to three straight winning seasons, which makes him the most consistent head coach since Dave Ritchie. 
Richie Hall should stay too, assuming he still wants to work. The fans who hate on Hall haven't updated their views from last year. This defense was really, really good for most of the year. They played such a good game today and deserved a better fate. In comparison to last year, they pulled the offense along for wins this season.
I could go either way on LaPolice but I'd prefer to move on. The CFL is so slanted towards offensive success that if you're not putting up a decent amount of points and passing yardage each week it should really concern you. Nichols falls into that same boat. If we had even a decent quarterback today, we win the game. The fact he was throwing balls into the dirt even when Calgary was playing prevent defense should eliminate any lingering doubts about him.

Hervey would murder Lapo in his sleep.  Can't see those guys working together.

I’m not convinced Lapo gets a head coaching gig.  I think Claybrooks goes to Toronto and Ed Hervey has a history of hiring first time head coaches. 

I said same thing..he pivoted to lead with shoulder.. and caught Bridge in chin as he went through him.. only thing he could have done different to avoid it would have been to dip lower and hit him in the gut..but in the millisecond u have to make a play in a game..from experience your instincts take over and u just go for the hit...other than the proven cheap shot head hunters...also..in no way shape or form was it late..and fact of matter..had zero bearing on the game whatsoever..and is just whining now for tha sake of whining 

also after basically being ignored for about the first 3 or 4 games after Nichols came back from injury...I see him as a legit 1000 yard guy next year, and a high percentage guy on second down conversions...proved to be pretty clutch in last 3rd of season

The reason they were going after Sayles was that he was on Roosevelt, the only receiver Bridge seemed to see on the field all day.  I heard Rob Bagg was playing, but I never saw him.

Yeah...feel the same way...i had to pvr as well as was going to be hour late to watch...and loved every minute of it...Also the fact that some of the Riders chirped pre game..Jefferson on the 3 all-starts..Poop out for blood...well the O-line took em out to the woodshed and slapped them around all game..and we didn't even really open up our offence as we didn't have to...we played it safe and didn't allow any chance of their defense having a chance to make a play...or score...basically the sole reason for 7 of their wins this year.
Pretty sure we knew coming in if we put up 20 points...and didn't turn ball over we would win....and that for the most part our statistically better and more well rounded defense would hold them to under 20...and thats exactly what happened..a flawed team all year long had lady luck not show up when they needed it...and well...you saw the results...that 12-6 record was smoke an mirrors...and like I said in a different thread..they won 5 games this year where the defense or ST's didn't score..and in 2 of those wins..they barely eeked out wins against Montreal and T.O...

it took them a little while getting him suited up but I believe he is practising with the 1st team.

I can't speak for anyone else but for me, the issue has been the raising of expectations over the past couple of years.  We really did seem like we were on an upwards trajectory and that finally, we'd be seeing this team put it all together.  I still have hopes, but I think that it's fair to say that at this moment, the team is not where most of us expected them to be at this stage of the season.  Yes, things have looked better these past few games, but I know that my confidence in the team is not what it was in June/July.  At the same time, I'm really beginning to get the feeling that O'Shea is a good coach, but he's not quite good enough.  I'm not sure he's the guy to get us to the next level, but the idea of tearing it all down just depresses me.  Not as much as living in Regina would, of course, but depressing never the less.
At the same time, I know that there are more than a few "fans" on this board who are clearly loving the current state of the team because it gives them the chance to come on here and rail about all the things that are wrong, and how they are just so darned clever that they could see how much this team sucks before anyone else did.  There are some regular "downers" on the board, and one or two contrarians (ok, really, just one), but there are also a few posters that you don't often see here when things are going good, but boy howdy, do they love to post when things are going tough.  To me, that's why it's getting harder and harder to come one here.

If we beat Edmonton this week, we're tied...  they are probably the most vulnerable team right now for our playoff hopes

We beat em in Edmonton last fall, why don't we do it again this year? 
Honestly when I look around the CFL I don't see any team that the Bombers can't beat if they are playing well. Now people are down on them right now because they haven't been playing well, but this weekends game was a step in the right direction regardless of who they were playing, so let's just let the rest of the season play out why not? 
People act like Edmonton is this monumental challenge but they're only 1 win better than us right now for all the problems Winnipeg has had. Just take care of the ball and move it a bit on offense and see what happens. There's a whole lot of meh teams in the CFL this year, think they call it parity, all it takes is a hot streak, and as the Riders have shown you don't even have to be good to get a hot streak!

Riders should be on at least a 4 game losing streak right now.  I don't remember the last game they won that wasn't handed to them by the other team.

Offense had about 50 yards in the second half until about 7 minutes to go. They did put a nice drive together to get the FG but they were bad. Typical Lapo nonsense. Lafrance is a plodder and we really struggled with him in there.

Sure, but "game manager Nichols" didn't make bad decisions, or throw a lot of picks - and also engineered a fair amount of 4th Q comebacks.  
This junk, we have got the last month or so....won't win against any teams - and hasn't.

I believe the injury Nichols suffered at the beginning of the year is really impacting his play. I also believe he really only trusts Harris, Dressler, and Adams. As soon as Dressler got injured it seems like he's only going to Harris or Adams, and it becomes easy to defend. Same thing happened last year when Dressler went out, then Adams. Also, Nichols can't throw a deep ball, and never has been able to.
Put Streveler in and watch him distribute the ball all around. Just look how much more Wolitarsky was involved in the games where Streveler started. I believe Wolitarsky is not being used enough.
Nichols is not the same player he was last year, and I'm scared that waiting for him to regain his form is going to put us on the outside looking in come playoff time...

Streveler hits Washington over the middle  But 5 Bombers can't handle 3 rushers...
....and Strev is sacked.  Now Hail Mary time.....
But pass out of bounds, 15 yds short of end zone will not get it done.  Bombers done.
The D really hung in there today, making a number of big plays to stop Rider drives
The O?  What we have here is a failure to execute.  Play calls, drops...bushel of picks..
Must win game and must bounce back game for Nichols.  Double fail.  4th straight loss.
Took a lot of mistakes to get swept by this Rider team.   Bombers certainly well up to that task
Managed to get this Odds and Sods out, in a relatively calm manner....
....while drinking my gin ferociously.



 
 

Do you seriously believe that? Wolitarsky has done more in half a season than JFG did in his entire time with the team.  
Both woli and peterman will be better than jfg if not already there. 

Lapo should watch a lot of Mike Reilly film if he needs a blueprint for building a gameplan for Streveler.  They get him on the move all the time and challenge the defense to hold contain and cover 3-4 guys in the route that are accessible to Reilly.

Because Neufeld as a guard is OK, but as a tackle he is in over his head. Jefferson ate his lunch all game long.
