  1. Durant is Bomber property until early Feb. 2019. So any comeback for this season would require a trade for his rights and possibly $70k in cash. If I were running the Bombers I would offer Durant an outright release for $70k. and then let him pick his own team because it is unlikely any team will trade for Durant's rights.
  2. In the end, O'Shea's 2 time refusal to settle for easy FGs and to gamble on 3rd down is what gifted the game to the Lions. O'Shea out coached Wally and then out smarted himself by being an overconfident gambler.
  3. You might be looking for more than a DC if LaPolice decides to apply for the vacant next year HC job with the Lions. And if the current trend in Riderville continues there could be a HC vacancy in Regina or perhaps LaPolice might apply for the GM job.
  4. Actually, you or someone can make stuff up as Elam a DB has been brought in by the Riders to try out at CB. Otoh, the QB that Riders recently released was not brought in to be a QB but to try out as a CB. So, Mike it turns out that you are right after all....you can't make this stuff up.
  5. Do you guys really think Chris Jones even wants Durant on the Riders team? He was correct in his previous assessment of Durant when let him go to the Als and nothing has changed. Lets be real here. The emergence of Strevler would likely not have happened if Durant hadn't retired, so it turns out that every penny that Durant did not deserve to keep turned out to be the best $70k in cap money that the Bombers have ever spent.
  6. Never mind his opinion about Drew Willy, if the Als coach knew anything about the CFL, he would not have signed on with the Als.
  7. Wasn't it Chapdelaine when he was Als HC that wanted Adams gone? So a different coaching staff might help Adams to decide to return to the Als. That and the fact that no other team has as much need at QB as the Als.
  8. Except that the unproven concept is getting a 300lb DT to play rush end and be able to drop back into pass coverage as Jones likes his DEs to be able to do. Of course Jones being Jones his plan is likely to be converting Brooks to the O Line.
  9. It is a civil matter, not criminal law, but likely will be settled out of court. Guy's lawyer will meet with B.C. Place's insurance claim adjuster who at best might offer to rescind the B.C. Place imposed one year ban and then probably with conditions such as agreeing not to consume alcohol while at games . Any cash payout would for starters need a doctor's report detaining injuries found upon examination. There also could be a cash payout to make the guy's lawyer go away if BC Place or the Lions feel the case is bringing bad publicity to the team. Or it could be the opposite if it is felt that paying a drunk trespasser goes against public opinion. OTOH we live in a country whose government thought it was necessary to pay $10M to a terrorist murderer because when he was caught and tortured by the Americans, Canada did not try to intervene on behalf of the terrorist.
  10. Riders are thin depth wise at a few positions but not at WR/SB and until they can get a DB up to speed, Carter is a short term fix. Riders likely plan on playing a lot of Man to Man and Carter can run with anyone.
  11. Well, my point is that Bombers should have been more desperate for a CFL experienced backup once Durant retired instead of only trying to do something after Nichols got injured. I never inferred that Gale was better than Durant. Edit: Actually Bombers didn't do anything re: a CFL experienced backup until 3rd string QB Ross got injured so it took 2 injured QBs to actually do anything...weird.
  12. Bombers need a QB on the active roster that actually has some CFL experience and Gale fits the bill, having played in several different offensive systems. Too bad for the Bombers that they didn't sign him once Durant retired so he could have attended TC.
  13. I am not sure about the Riders ranking, but Bombers at 7th with a starting QB that has never even seen a regular season CFL game live, might be a generous ranking. And O'Shea didn't help his QBs in pre season because like Chris Jones he spent all the pre season games evaluating and no time giving his inexperienced QBs game time playing with the starters.
  14. Jones, the ultimate strategist, has spent all of pre season evaluating players and almost no game time getting his QBs and starters playing together. Rest assured that Trestman will have his D well prepared for the different styles of both Rider QBs.
