  1. We're this close to repairing the damage done from past years…and letting O-Linemen walk, to arriving at a full house of capable? personnel. So now, we have to look to the future and drafting with the future in mind. The O-Line is a different entity onto itself and thank goodness Walters recognizes that. I like Demski - but I love the #2 position…for this year. They had a plan for free agency and now, with these new pieces in place, and possibly more, they'll formulate an attack plan for the draft. I'm looking forward to seeing them enact that plan. I read this twice, and I still have no idea what exactly you're trying to say...it feels like you used a whole lotta words, and some weird Left-Justify formatting to say a lot of nothing. Ha ha...what exactly was your point? Now I have to justify what the words I left?
  2. I don't know for sure, but do Giguere"s initials suggest Just F___ing Great?

  4. Maybe they meant Rogers, over and out? Or over Rogers and out?
  5. Hmm, i would like one of Bryant/Rogers, Curran, Peters, a receiver - Jackson, NI depth such as Hurl. Then I could light a cigarette and relax. (I wouldn't smoke it…just light it.)
  6. Our opening bid - $181,290 Don't get TSN radio involved here. Well, it's just that I thought a bid of $180,680 would have been ridiculous.
  7. Yes, 3 or 4 of the targeted players would be nice, but that doesn't mean he won't fill in with roster players if the 1st choices aren't available. Still could end up with upwards of 5 or 6. "Targeting" 5 or 6 guys may very well mean multiple players for the same position, not 5 or 6 signings. ie - He's targeting Bryant and Rogers, and wants to get one, Curran and Peters, wants to get one, Sinopoli/Watt/Guigerre, wants to get one. Because as a good GM, he will have a fallback plan. Right. And along those lines, if he doesn't get Bryant, but gets Rogers, he likely saves a nice chunk of money. If that happens a couple of times, it may be enough to get you a Sam Hurl or another 2nd tier/fall back guy they have their eye on. Target 5 guys, all 1st tier targets, and get 4 or 5 = success. Target 5 guys, all 1st tier targets, and get 3 or 4 plus 1- 2nd tier target = a very good day And so on and so on.

  9. It's always interesting to have a subject of whom we're talking, come on here and talk to us in the 1st person. As a matter of fact, it would be nice to have that perspective from Tristan as his University career starts and moves forward. A kind of TC report from the inside.
  10. From my seat, what will happen tomorrow: Paul Friesen will doom the Bombers to a dreadful season no matter what Walters does. Lawless will continue his improvement as a Bomber beat writer. Troy Westwood will say something stupid. Posters: we have our own free agent tracker, but he won't sign with anybody else. gbill2004 will tweet the results - with the wrong background image. iso will give a history of the players Jacquie will correct the misteaks mistakes. Tburg will yawn at the media putdown. the unknown poster will propose a trade right after the results, and it will include Kane.
  11. Count me in with Nic. He would make quite the impact with the young guys.
  12. Love the fact you come on here and stand up for yourself. That alone carries weight with me.
  13. I fully believe the Bombers had every intention of bringing Brohm back and it's my belief is that the best place for him would have been here, as a backup, and at least, further develop his resume. There may be mild interest in the CFL from other teams, due to the performance of some backups from last year, but I don't think he's shown enough to warrant great offers. The same should hold true for NFL interest, especially at his age. But…NFL QBacking was all over the map last year so there still may be some sniffing around for a former NFLer. Of course everything depends on how his broken thumb recovery is coming along and whether he'll use that same thumb to hitchhike out of here.
  14. I'm aware of Shankman, and no, he is not made up, although he could be someone's alter-ego. It's hard to believe someone could be so obsessive when you colour a bit outside the lines. There should be a little laissez-faire in order to let a conversation run its course. A form of "seeing where this takes us". Of course, there must be some kind of traffic lights but it shouldn't always be red. Shankman did not do that site any favours with that style of moderating.
  15. Let's not go there. And by that I mean, no CFL in Toronto. Can we agree that the Argos have to get out of Rogers Centre, and rid themselves of Braley? I think so. Braley gets 2 Grey Cups now…that's gotta end. Is this a way do do both? It's a start. Same with the negotiations. It's a start. They don't have to get everything they're asking for..but the league has to get out of the sheer lunacy that is playing out of Rogers Centre and the restrictions that accompany it. This is a way to do that, and I believe it will benefit the entire league in the long run. Screw Toronto? Yeah, but let's not screw the whole league to do it.
  16. Good news as long as he doesn't retire. Wrong thread tracker. Sorry, I was out of balance but now i have a good grip in all seasons. I'm glad you've taken a turn for the better…a stud like you, has to take care of himself.
  17. Holy cripes, if we all did that, it'd be a pretty empty board.
  18. Good news as long as he doesn't retire. Wrong thread tracker.
  19. Considering that the Grey Cups were just rotated amongst the teams with covered fields in the past, I think we could get by with an idea like this. If this increases the chances of a stable franchise in Toronto…I'm for it.
  20. If, in 3 days, we sign 1 FA, I'd consider that just filling the roster with a player we could get and, depending on who it is, I'd me mildly content. If we sign 2 players in FA, again, depending on who it is, I'd consider that a day's work. 3 players and I would be impressed. 4 players would be serious business and a major roster move. Curran, Bryant/Rogers OL, Jackson, Hurl/NI, Peters, to name a few. Oh, and our own Johnny Sears please. *Completely misplaced the signing of Picard so far, so I guess that makes me mildly content already.
  21. The Jets played a strong, determined playoff-type game against a very good team. It could have gone either way. They did not look distracted at all. (Bowman's non apology didn't bother them in the least) Now if only we could get there….and be a playoff team...
  22. I don't think that was Brandt's point - more that the expectations people might have of Matthews going forward will be magnified because of the stage he had his breakout game on, and he probably can't and won't meet those expectations. Should other teams be making trade offers, and should the Seahawks extend him with a multi-million dollar contract to make sure he doesn't reach free agency at the end of next season? Did the next Randy Moss just jump out from behind the curtains? Probably not. He went for 100+ yards and a TD in what was essentially his first NFL game, which also happened to be the Super Bowl. It's pretty easy for the hype to snowball into ridiculous proportions when something like that happens. He isn't the next great player, but he still can be a good one. And considering how underwhelming the Seahawks receiving corps is, it's a better situation for him to be in than most. Plus a large percentage of their passing game is deep, so a role as 3rd receiver going up for jump balls against other team's weakest DBs is also ideal (as shown last Sunday). Just don't expect 100 yard games with a TD to become a common thing going forward. His good game was no fluke, but it was a set of perfect circumstances for him to succeed in. Would the same thing happen if the circumstances change? Brandt thinks it's unlikely. I hope Matthews proves him wrong, but the explanation as to why he probably won't makes sense. My point really, is that Matthews was inserted in the lineup and performed. It doesn't matter whom he played against..he performed in that game. The fact that New England had to change their coverage does mean something. As to being shutdown…if Wilson had made a proper throw on Browner's knockdown, Matthews would have had 2 TDs. It's not about what Matthews does in the future, it was about how he performed when he had the chance, and he did. That's all people have to worry about at this point. And I wasn't necessarily talking about only Brandt.
  23. Bona fide Me First football player too. Pretty pathetic display during the GC & afterwards. #gottagrowup Any truth to the rumour he wants #9 put on his track suit next year?
