  1. D.amn. Knew it was about to happen, but d.amn anyways. Going to miss him. His bandwagon was easy to jump on and it was a fun ride for us. Too bad for us…he's really the type of player we need here. Going to the NFL. THAT league…the one with 8 1/2 mins. of football /game, but pays about $200-$300 a minute/game. Tough to compete with that. His effort paid off…and that's how it should be.
  2. I believe Walters when he says he intends to be aggressive in free agency. That, to me, means a high profile O-Lineman, or even two. They've said they've been rostering the roster with the scouts and the Canadian draft brain trust. This means short term for Imports but a longer term for NIs. They've identified areas of need. If they've already identified some potential receiver help, then maybe we only go 2nd tier receiver, a la Jackson or Chiles, or maybe they do that anyway. And I agree with those who believe we'll go after a strong NI player, other than O-Line, to add to our NI depth and strength. This is going to be one of our most look-forward-to free agency ventures in a long time. 3 or 4 players, determined, of course, by who gets whom first.
  3. Ottawa had an import doing both kicking jobs who had the worst accuracy in the league (remember the outcry when we cut him?). Obviously the whole kicking debacle leading up to Ottawa's first game is yet another of the many examples of Desjardins being the worst GM in the league, but if someone talks enough sense into him, he may see the light in having lousy kicking numbers coming from a NI instead of an import. So there is one place that might be interested. Hair apparent to Jon Gott?
  4. Eskimos shave Hugh O'Neill from their roster. Interest in him should be next to nothing. Edmonton Eskimos ✔ @EdmontonEsks Follow BREAKING: #Esks Release K/P Hugh O'Neill
  5. ………….And once again……thanks for playing twitter-winks!
  6. Kiss my ice NHL…. Well, maybe that's not quite how Miller put it, but bravo Mr. Miller for setting priorities. "A well-run and successful Grey Cup can generate millions of dollars for the host franchise. Miller’s mandate as CEO of the Bombers must be to protect that revenue first and foremost." Exactly - Miller has to protect what he can control, and that is the decisions that will help make the Grey Cup a successful event. The mighty NHL always dictates how they want to run things…it's how they operate. They could care less about the City and the Province and our Canadian tradition that is the Grey Cup game. The NHL has tremendous respect for Mark Chipman, so there still might be hope if talks continue, but I hope the always-has-been-underdog Miller holds his ground in facing the bullies from down south.
  7. They will make the 'practical trade' to adjust the lineup IMO, that will reset the surplus of D-Men they now have. I don't see them jumping into a big trade, unless something remarkable comes their way. Maybe from a fire-sale team. Here's an article identifying players from each team that might be available: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2329910-every-nhl-teams-best-trade-asset-in-2014-15?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=vancouver-canucks Pardy's name was put forward from the Jets.
  8. So, let me get this straight. A guy throws a Maple Leaf jersey out onto the ice… the Org. apparently doesn't like this at all… so they choose to reward him by banning him from watching Maple Leaf games for a year? I don't get it.
  9. "The new Blue Bombers defensive coordinator Richie Hall spoke with Kim Babij-Gesell via Skype." http://www.bluebombers.com/video/index/id/108117 It's nice to hear the Bombers took time off from their busy schedule, and put into works something that could accommodate everybody involved. Last year, even though they had hired their DC in Jan., they didn't announce it until Feb 20th. This year, I can only imagine the conversation to get this information out there, with all the parties involved scattered across the continent. Good job Big Blue…and thanks Kim.
  10. Yeah, there is that argument. Still, there are two teams involved, and only one gets that chance in that situation. Coin toss. Apply NFL reasoning to NHL shootouts, 1st team scores…game over.
  11. Staff in Mobile for the Senior Bowl? PR guy on holidays? CFL Congress on this week? Piddly excuses…one and all.
  12. I can just imagine how I would feel if the Bombers lost that way. The game is meant to be competitive, but when you take away that aspect, the game sucks. It's…not...finished.
  13. Two softies?!?! What game were you watching? The first goal he was being screened by 5 players standing within 2 feet of the crease and the second and third goals were deflected by players standing right in front of him. If you consider those soft goals I can't see how any goalie could ever meet your standards. The last two goals he was out of position... Pavs seems like a fish out of water flopping around. They were definitely not great goals that he let in, my standards are not that high but considering a rookie has been out playing him this season and a career backup out played him last season...... I don't think highly of him. He's a very expensive back up goalie these days. It's easy enough sometimes to say a goalie let in a couple of softies - but save it, that didn't happen last night. Unless the puck just hits you, you won't stop those kind of deflections. Pavelic was pure Pavelic last night, and the Jets won just as much because of him as with anybody else.
  14. For the "greatest league in the world" to have such an overtime structure is a miserable failure. Essentially, they rely on the coin toss to determine a winner, and that is just sad.
  15. Can only find this information: Posted 31 December 2014 - 03:45 PM Bob Irving ‏@BobIrvingCJOB 3m3 minutes ago Expect Richie hall to be named bombers defensive co-ordinator within days. Posted 31 December 2014 - 06:56 PM The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Hall are in contract negotiations and if things continue to positively move forward, Hall could be named defensive coordinator as early as next week. - Gary Lawless - Winnipeg Free Press - Dec 31 - http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/Bombers-in-contract-negotiations-with-Richie-Hall-287232741.html Rider Prophet retweeted Swag & Stagger Show @SwagNStagShow · Jan 13 Hall as #bombers DC a done deal Where is Jacquie? She's the resident pro for stuff like this.
  16. Edge of seat hockey game and a much better performance tonight by the Jets. Total team effort by what must be an exhausted hockey team. 5 games 7 nights. This is a team that makes cheering easy. My star tonight? Bogosian.
  17. Good for Stamps..he deserves to be #1 somewhere, and in Montreal looks like he will be. He wouldn't be here, but he sure as hell would have been a better option than Romby. I doubt we'll first look to receivers in FA, but as a last second check-out purchase give me an E. Jackson or a Greg Ellingson please. Makes you wonder why Desjardins wouldn't have done that and kept his star defender. Still shaking my head over that one.
  18. They've been talking about starting 3, just because they want to get them all on the field... If we look at our production from the Int. receivers last year (Bryant, Kelly) you could easily justify using 3 NIs as receivers…except for the depth. We could have done better. This year, I expect we'll follow the standard formula, and audition more import receivers, but that 3 NI scenario sure would look good on us, if we could pull it off. There'd be no reason we couldn't be successful and supplement the play of Moore and Denmark with a smart playbook and 3 capable NI receivers. But, for now, I'm dreaming in techNIcolor.
  19. Methinks Pav's save percentage will go up after tonight….
  20. There is absolutely no truth to the rumour that Marcel Desjardins was providing Pricing policy and organizational advice for the Canadian Division of Target. Absolutely no truth. None. Move along.
  21. What I like about these two Canadian receivers, other than the fact we snagged them as free agent signings for nothing, is that they share one common and valuable asset….they're reliable. Do I prefer one to the other? Not really. I love how both of them put in that effort that sets them apart. Just very happy that are contributing and that the upside is very promising. If we sign that Goodrich kid, then we're in a good stead going forward.
  22. Winnipeg has the least amount of Canadians at this time with 27. We have 4 pending FAs in that group. Edmonton has the most Canadians with 36 and they have 6 pending FAs. BC has 28 NIs 2 pending FAs. Sask. - 30 6 FAs Calgary - 33 2 FAs pending Hamilton 28 - 3 FAs Toronto 28 - 5 FAs Ottawa 28 - 3 FAs Montreal 33 - 3 FAs Although our number is on the low side, I believe the quality of NIs is slowly being built up as we are taking out player B and replacing him with a B1 kind of thing. The addition of players like Neufeld, Goosen, Picard, Kohlert, Gudino, Briggs, Newman, Jones, Sherman, Hajrullahu and Everett, have elevated the standard of players we have had, even if it only brings us back to 'average.' I see this trend in upgrading continuing with the Canadian content in management, led by Walters, that we have now. The 4 players we have not signed yet, Carter, Hinse, Volny and Cornell, along with Richardson and Pall may lose their positions depending on Free Agency and the upcoming draft. We're on the right path now and it's been a long time since we could say that.
  23. This is what screams out the most to me…you could have spent Mo Price money on a good FA receiver, and kept a key part of your defence. This smells of over-purchasing again without the need. Over-spending on Burris, without acquiring a decent receiver, hurt them then, and Desjardins is simply compounding that mistake now.
  24. If I were a betting man, I would say Cornish is closer to the end than he is at his peak. That pounding he takes can really wear a guy down. And those concussions? Those little bells that can be heard are warning signs for Cornish. It's tough enough on a runner to take that constant pounding but it looks like those hits are now in his head, as I'm sure he's concerned when the next one will occur. That's too bad really, 'cause he's a hell of a runner.
  25. Interesting - texts came out in the last year: Kirk Penton ‏@PentonKirk19m I'm hearing Rich Stubler will be the next #Bombers defensive co-ordinator. Makes sense given his history with O'Shea. Posted 07 December 2013 - 02:23 PM Stubler was released by the Lions today. Dec 7 http://blogs.theprov…p-rich stubler Dec 9 - Read at the CFL forum that the Stamps are interested in Stubler for DC but no source was given. Anyone else hear this?
