  1. I forgot that Enstrom was the only man on the ice last year..
  2. It's the same coincidence that having Enstrom in the lineup last year, led to a playoff spot..
  3. This makes it...difficult...to follow this logic.
  4. And we know it, and the players and their agents know it, and yet they still scribble their names on those contracts. They really don't much choice. Perhaps, if they have any leverage at all, they could negotiate spaced bonuses during the season. The CFL is not a rich league at all, (sorry Rich) and this is pretty well standard procedure for players. And yes, it does suck.
  5. The question was not about Drew's health, just the fact that he is healthy. Even though you're trying very hard to steer the topic to where you want it to go, you're not succeeding. The question was about what it is to have Willy back, and was answered within the boundaries of that question. Walters, is making it known that the club is aware of concerns that go beyond the O-Line. They already know about the O-line. And he is not piling the blame on his #1 asset. He is simply letting everybody know that Drew has to be more aware of the game situations. And what he says is true. Drew does have to be more aware. It's not necessary for him to take all those hits. That's all he is saying. Every football fan can see that. It been spoken of many times. Read it again, they are not blaming it on Drew and Drew alone. The essence of the answer is in the answer.
  6. hy·per·bo·le - noun exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally. synonyms:exaggeration, overstatement, magnification, embroidery, embellishment, excess, overkill, rhetoric;
  7. They already have a major Wall in Saskatchewan...although I don't know how much he gets around.
  8. Thanks for posting that TUP. To me it just shows what kind of ownership that the Jets are party to, and, IMO, it suits Winnipeg just fine. Manitoba should be proud to have a strong ownership group who don't put frivolous things ahead of integrity. Everything they have tried to do puts the fans and Winnipeg ahead of personal recognition. Bravo..
  9. A solid interview conducted by Ted Wyman (Winnipeg Sun). He asked direct questions and got pretty honest answers. Everything from the Grey Cup drought, the offensive output, the upcoming draft and the Bombers' picks, Drew Willy, the backup situation, and his respect for MOS. I like the "on the verge" comment, but my favourite Q and A was: I do see the similarities.
  10. I don't see Thorburn as being used 'out of context' in that the roster the Jets and Moose had, prevented more players being used in 'elevated' roles. And yes, injuries too. The Jets already used a disproportionately youthful roster, with good intent. The safety net was a guy like Thorburn, a 4th liner, filling in wherever the need arose. It's certainly not Thorburn's fault that he had to fill this role over the young-uns. And nobody here can say the young-uns were ready to fill that role without affecting their future effectiveness. And what you call a failure of management amount to the same thing...if they brought in somebody else, there would be no development of the young-uns either, and how and where the Jets ended up this year wouldn't have really changed a great deal. The Jets, as an organization, we're not in a position this past year, but they laying the groundwork, and their future does look good.
  11. A very busy time coming up for the Blue Bombers and their scouting staff... Prior to, and even beyond this year's Mini Camp - April 25-27th, the Bomber will have these open Free Agent workouts. April 16 - Indianapolis April 16 - Philadelphia April 17 - Chicago April 17 - Pittsburgh April 23 - Minneapolis April 24 - St. Joseph Mo May 7 - Rutherford May 8 - Washington May 14 - Rochester May 15 - Nile Ohio
  12. This is good... @EricM_CFL some of the great names are based off of their coaches name. One thought is for the offence be called the LaPolice Academy.
  13. Every team has a guy like Thorburn who plays with guts and spitfire, and any coach would be hard-pressed to replace him with another just because of glitter and promise. It's called work ethic. It's no wonder the Coach has a special place for Thorburn, his teammates certainly do.
  14. Further to the Riders, and their recent 3 day mini-camp, here's a summary of all the things that happened in the camp that Bomber fans should find interesting and were noteworthy: .
  15. That's a big loss, at this time, for the Ticats
  16. The PACmen line had a heck of a game. Petan, Armia and Copp started that comeback and gave the Kings all they could handle. They were the spark that the Jets needed to wake up and overtake the Kings. The compete level of the Jets, after a slow start, was awesome. 5 point night for the Scheifele, Wheeler, Ehlers line and they are a real treat to watch. Hits 27-29 for LA As John Garrett said, tonight the Jets had one 1st line and three 2nd lines. Byfuglien 29:18 ice time Bermistrov made a hell of a play on Ehlers goal. A winning streak. Go figure..
  17. An interesting article that underlines many flaws the Bombers had last year, many of which had already been pointed out, but I get the distinct impression that Bellefeuille is being shielded in this article and many of his flaws were glossed over. It's no coincidence that recognizing our offensive plays did not take wizard to figure out, and it wasn't very hard to 'guess' what play was coming. Even though we may have had inferior players, I'm not sure how good you have to be to overcome that fact.
  18. ..........Go Jets Go - in your last game this year...
