Football participation is down in community & high schools that feed CIS programs across the country. How are teams supposed to start 7 Canadians when less players play collegiately. that is going to have a negative impact in the years to come. Here in Calgary a number of high schools dropped their grade 10 JV teams last year & didn't finish the season.  They just forfeited their games because they couldn't field enough players to safely play. How can you say it's lazy when the numbers are dropping?

1 less NI per team = the 9 worst NI's not getting to play pro football in Canada.
The CFL has reduced the number of NI starters in the past, and it didn't stop folks from watching. Reducing the starters by 1 wouldn't stop (m)any folks from watching. I've never heard anyone say... 'If they don't start 7 NI's, I'm not watching any more'.
Personally, I think they should have reduced the number of NI starters by 1 when Ottawa came back into the league.

TIDBITS - CJOB Special. (Shorthand version)
    Walters
    Moving on from Dressler
Flanders - want more return ability - will see.
Matthews - he’s focused on NFL, but ‘could’ end up here.

O’Shea - regrets losing ‘good’ people, football and otherwise.
Jefferson will fit right in. Intrigued to see him play.
    Ultra competitive West.
Negotiations- players will work hard to get what they want. Better partnership and communication now.
Couture ready? Yes. Gray will compete. No doubt OL can be as good. TC will determine who’s who and where they play.
Streveler- expand his roll..still Matt’s team.
Augustine - will have to work on ST & protection. Will be competition
    2 spots open on Rec.
Petermann & Simonize - both improved.
Knox to Wilson. Wilson was slated for MLB.
Mexican player in camp? Looking at it.
Globalization- to improve revenue streams. Likes the big thinking.
Nichols knee injury? Into good training. No knee concerns. Wants to be more consistent.
Harris - doesn’t know where the money’s coming from when asked of teams signing Free Agents.
Brown & Tait - negotiations? Brown brings up a fund for injuries.
Tait - guranteed contracts? No go. Pie is too small.
Sask. - Tait says it all depends on Collaros...otherwise - yeesh
Brown says they’re going to be terrible and hopes they’re terrible.

I thought it was a great episode.  It was called "Family" and had that theme running through all the various plots.  It was a way to add some weight to the Borg story by having the Enterprise requiring repair at Space Dock rather than being reset.
You had Worf's parents visit and Wesley is given a holo-recording of his late father.
The story with Picard was great because he was considering leaving Starfleet and staying on Earth.  I think the fact that there were unresolved issues between him and his brother was similar to Picard's unresolved feelings of powerlessness over his actions while under the Borg influence.  Conversely, Picard's brother wanted his son to stay on Earth and not join Starfleet.
    It was a good episode.
There was also Chain of Command two-parter.  And....I think there was another two-partner where Picard masqueraded as a pirate or something.

I agree.  I could handle some "slower" episodes of Discovery with more room to breath.  But the episodes that referenced past events or had an impact on everything were always the best.  Which is what DS9 did the best.  And what Voyager did the worst (since every episode they'd get beat up and reset everything at the end).
When TNG did Best of Both Worlds and followed that up with Picard going home, it was totally out of the norm for that show and awesome!

I was so excited for Enterprise but they just didnt embrace their concept.  It was just another barely warmed over TNG shadow (like Voyager) rather then a real prequel.  I know the producers have said they wanted to be more of a prequel but the studio wouldnt let them.  Such as, the producers wanted the whole first season to be the construction of the ship and for the series to be essentially earth bound, which makes a lot more sense.
Maybe the Red Angel has something to do with the Temporal Cold War so we can finally resolve that! lol

I am a fan of a self contained episode that touches on the season arc- it's pretty good storytelling. You get the immediate gratification every week of a one and done plus investment in the larger story and character development. Though- bring back to life the dude through the mushroom network... that was a bit bunk.

Ambrose addressed the rules and 3 vs 4 down game, and one interesting point he made was that the European leagues play their games in soccer stadiums on soccer fields, so they are already playing the game on a CFL sized field (the width is the same for both sports). Ambrosia wants to highlight the speed of the CFL game and uses the field size as a w at to exploit the speed. He talked a good game at the event, we shall see what if anything comes of it, but I like the idea that we need to think bigger than “we are a boutique league that is a stepping stone to the NFL”

I get the skepticism about it from the the bits and piece of info that the media have put out. I sat and listened to him talk about this for hour on Friday it’s not as crazy as people make it out to be.

These leagues are looking for a partner to grow the game. The commissioner said on Friday night that when he started talking to these leagues that they were really surprised that he asked them how the CFL could help them grow and develop. The NFL had dictated what the relationship was going to be with them to benefit of only the NFL.

My opinion on CFL 2.0. We are all here, I would assume because we think that the CFL is the most exciting brand of football right? Why would we not want for people in Mexico, Austria, German, France, Finland, ect, to think CFL when they think football. Share what we love with millions more people seems like a no brainer.

    You should read the article..
“We talk to the PA quite regularly. We can walk and chew gum. People say, ‘Randy, why aren’t you staying home and focusing on fixing Toronto?’ I say, ‘This is fixing Toronto.’ We are only going to get people who are not CFL fans to be CFL fans in a world of big sports if we change the fundamental profile of who we are. We have to re-cast ourselves in a different way. We can’t be this small, loveable Canadian Football League. We have to think bigger. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome
“My job is not to sit at my desk waiting for the phone to ring. My job is to create opportunities for this league to be more successful.”
“There are five million football fans in France and now 100 kids playing football in CGEP in Quebec, with another eight players from Europe playing U football in the province.
There are three times the number of kids playing tackle football in Mexico right now than currently registered in Canada.
Across Europe there are 32 leagues playing American football in 30 countries.
The CFL, hoping to capitalize on some of that, expects to announce a deal with a Mexican broadcaster soon – and possibly some European agreements, too – and is hoping to play at least one international game per season.”

👁‍🗨 You have to admire Randy Ambrosie for all the effort he’s putting into his job. Never have I seen a more visible Commissioner who is putting the CFL first and foremost in the public’s eyes. You may not agree with some of his ideas, but it’s way better than in the past where the Commish would come out on Groundhog Day, then disappear again for 6 weeks.
