  1. These rule changes are going to remove several elements that are unique to Canadian football. I'm kind of aghast.

    - Benches on opposite sides is reasonable.

    - I don't like taking away the rouge but I can understand it. Couldn't they keep it for punts but get rid of it for missed FG to skip rewarding failure?

    - I am not a fan of moving the goal posts. Bye bye to most field goal returns.

    - Changing the field size after the development of relatively new stadiums in 4/9 markets is nuts. It will mean that fans in the end zones and corners will be farther from the action factoring in the 5 yard shrinking of the field and 5 yard shrinking of the end zones. But I do understand shrinking the end zones for consistency with stadiums that can't handle a full 20.

    - If they were going to change something, I'd have added a fair catch instead of the 5 yard no yards rule that seems difficult to apply accurately in any case.

I'm going to take an unpopular stance here and not throw streveler under the bus... that first int I blame the play call. Sure he could have not thrown it (and likely been sacked) but that's the play, out of the hands quick. Was on target, the problem, as it is every time they call that play, is that the defense is not fooled at all and sits there waiting for it. That one I put squarely on the play call. The 2nd int yeah that one probably shouldn't have been thrown. Of course collaros throws ints like that a bunch too. Had one just before half last game very similar. Problem with it last night is again, defense sitting on top of everything g because not once before garbage time did we even consider threatening them deep.

Sure if you want streveler to overcome all the problems that we see with collaros too he didn't do it, but it's not like he's the only problem. At this point in the season it's abundantly clear that the #1 problem with the offense is the coordinator.

Yeah I agree with you. The play design was issue #1 on the first pick, and I think Sanchez mentioned that Peters was able to read it more easily because Wilson didn't sell running a route before blocking. The second interception looked to my untrained eye like the DB made it back to the ball on the curl before Demski did and there wasn't a window there. I guess Streveler could have thrown it more outside but ultimately just shouldn't have thrown it. But the lack of any vertical passing seems to mean the DBs can just come downhill with no worry about getting beat deep. I'd say the more egregious error by Streveler was the almost pick trying to thread it between 3 defenders.

Ed’s right. We barely have enough Canadians to fill the roster. Maybe I missed a few, but I only see Vibert & Cobb as options to fill out the Canadian roster requirements.

Couldn't we just nationalize Willie, for instance? Assuming that we weren't so stubborn about using that rule. That alone would allow us to roster one of Woods or Adams in lieu of Kornelson. And taking Ayers off could get us the other one or Houston. Just maddening.

Peterson!!! Damn. I dont know why but I was under the impression he was a global player. Where did he come from?

Matthew Peterson hails from the foreign land of Brooks, Alberta. What an incredible game! If he was looking this poised in camp, I can see why we felt comfortable rolling with him as our backup RB instead of rostering Cooley. I love how understated he was even in celebrating his first career TD on the sideline. Locked in.

  5. I'm gone to the numbers to process my grief. Looking at the play by play, Brady had: 2 touches in Q1, 4 touches in Q2, 3 touches in Q3, and 4 touches and 1 drop in Q4. That's absolute malpractice by Buck. The three most egregious times to me are: 1) When we drove to the 8 yard line in the second quarter and tried two unsuccessful passes and kicked the FG. 2) Wilson's 4 plays when Zach was injured. 3) The series Zach returned.

We didn't throw a pass to Brady until Wilson's first play. So he and Zach weren't connecting on check downs either for whatever reason.

We went 2 and out because we didn’t run, and couldn’t string together completions. A part of not being able to string together completions is not running which means you can’t use play action.

We didn't have consecutive completions until the 4th quarter. Ugly.

My overly simplified post mordem of our offensive offense is: We should have run more. We should have passed better (play calling and execution).

Our backup QB throws a TD pass that a rookie receiver makes an attempt at like he's looking into a full ******* eclipse

Wheatfall should have caught it for sure, but I think we were called offside on the play anyways. It would have given us another down though at least. That was a great throw.

I think that the key part of your post jbr, and I hesitate to point this out because I got static for this 2 years ago, was that at halftime RD showed his superiority in adjustments over OSH.

In my view, MOS is a culture coach whereas RD is a schemer (and culture in his own way). I'm glad MOS changed the culture of this team, but give me a RD over a MOS on game day anytime.

Credit to your team. Enjoy your celebration, @bluto

  8. 1. The coaching staff, and in particular the offense and by proxy MOS -- Horrible game plan pre Zach injury and post Zach injury. Horrible decision to stay with Zach post injury instead of trying Wilson or even Dolegala. 14 combined touches for Brady in a game that was close pre glove. Pathetic.

    2. Zach -- credit for gutting it out, I suppose, even though that arguably benefited Toronto more than us. But 6 completions in 3 quarters is hideous. It seems like he has little ability to read anything intermediate. Were the receivers just not getting open at all? Or was Zach just unable to see them?

    3. Nic / Nichols -- both laid eggs out there.

Hm. Lawler -- what happened to him tonight? He got 7 targets but only like 27 yards. Was he cold and not getting open? Or was he just getting missed by Zach?

You had one job -- Lucky Whitehead. Just catch the ball and secure it. I guess that's two jobs.

    Bright spots

    1. Willie was a weapon for perhaps the first time all season. Great all round game on D from his run stop on Grant to his clearly awesome sack and pick.

    2. Wilsons -- Ontaria and Terry. Leader in receptions (OW). Only meaningful touchdown (TW). And while he didn't throw a completion and almost threw a pick, Terry Wilson looked pretty poised in his first meaningful reps. He climbed the pocket and could sling it. I think we'd have had a better shot staying with him than with ZC.
