The big problem I see out here in the sticks is that the anti-maskers have been emboldened.  Buisnesses aren't enforcing their policies partly because of a lack of support from city/town councils and therefore local police as well. They are all, afraid of upsetting the fundamentalist church crowd. When the 3rd  wave hits it will come from the Southern  part of the province. My shot on Sunday can't come soon enough.

I think the variants and vaccine rollout (lack thereof) are definitely throwing a wrench into things. Gov't is a lot more cautious right now, as they should be. The way the pandemic is going right now, I'm not sure football is very high on the priority list. Just look at situation in Vancouver with the Canucks... I think that's going to put a halt to any risks anyone might have taken. So with all that being said, why release a statement that essentially says nothing?

Keeping the restrictions in place is a great move. Big thumbs up. 
Winnipeg may need to look at adding further restrictions if the TPR continues to go up and if the variants of concern take over. 

The CDC in Atlanta is reported by CNN as stating that "long-hauler" COVID victims who have recovered but are still feeling dysphoric are feeling better after the second vaccination. Not all but about 30-40%. No reason has so far been identified.

We should go into another lock down. We always wait until the very last minute with always the same results... these VOCs are serious- that Bolosano Variant is pretty crazy. Lock it down before we join the ranks of all the provinces west of us and Ontario and Quebec.

That should be a variant, not the variant... there are a few of them floating around (South Africa, UK, Brazil).  My understanding is that the Brazil one is the one of most concern, and hasn't arrived in Manitoba yet, but it's likely just a matter of time.

Saying its a waste just means it's a sad situation for anyone to be charged or committed a murder. Not just the murderer and the victim but the families of both. Their lives will never be the same or reach their full potential. It's a waste of multiple lives, and yes often with root causes that reflect both current and historical situations.

I've gone to double masking any time I'm in a business for any reason. I have the normal disposable as my inner layer and then a non-disposable filtered one as my outer layer. Definitely feel more comfortable/confident with this system now...

Adler had a good interview with a Dr from Ontario talking about the Brazil variant.  Friggen scary as hell.  It's on a completely different level as far as transmisability.  He suggests N95 or doubled masks. It will transmit through the air rather than by droplet.
